*******Official August 2017 Countdown Thread ~ Feeling hot, hot, hot!!!******

Two weeks from now I will enter the "longest hour ever". I will be in my last hour of work before the trip.

Not a whole lot of progress on our to do list; but there wasn’t much on it. We will have time to get school supplies after we return though. We return the 22nd. They start the 28th. Both kids’ Orientation is after we get back and I like to wait in case the list is wrong and so I can minimize trips. Plus we have some left over stuff from last year. I also already bought clothes and shoes. This is their first year not wearing uniforms so I got started a while back.

One big thing I have left to do is reserve ds a spot at a drop in facility for the days left in August before school starts. Next week he is in swim camp all week which I booked a couple of months ago. Other than that, he doesn’t have a full week left. He has 3 days in the week we leave and 3 days in the week after we get back.

We leave 2 weeks from today although for some reason my countdown still says 20 days. A couple of days before we leave I will load the gift cards we will use to pay for food and a few souvenirs. I just have a few little things to pick up from the store, then laundry and packing, which I plan to do on the weekend of the 12th. Packing should be pretty simple for this trip and I already have a list. Pretty much going to take stuff from the laundry basket to the suitcase. The kids don’t know about the trip and I figure this way I’m not going in their rooms grabbing clothes. I’m sure I won’t be getting any complaints from them about not having laundry to put away. I’m telling them on the 16th, the day before we leave. That will give my daughter plenty of time to go through the suitcase and switch out anything she might want to. Although, the last time I did that, she was like, “I don’t care what I’m wearing, I’m going to Disney World,” she was 11 then. Basically just packing stuff we can sweat in.

I ended up testing the personal fans yesterday when we had AC problems. Ds has been in a soccer camp in the evenings this week from 6-8:30. There’s no time to go home after work; so he and I been out of the house from 7am to 9pm. Got home Tuesday night and the house was at 82 degrees and air coming from the vents was not cool. I am still surprised dd didn’t text me. When the Internet went out one day I got a frantic text that said, “Mom! Help! Nothing in the house is working!” Don't you just love teenagers?

I worked from home on Wednesday to wait for the HVAC guys who could not guarantee they would get to us that day. I ordered 3 small fans using Amazon Prime Now and placed one in each person’s bedroom. They kept the bedrooms cool; but we used the personal ones when walking around downstairs or cooking. Thankfully they showed up around 3 and it was an easy repair. The temperature in the house was approaching 90 degrees. It took another 7 hours for the house temperature to return to 74.

Yeah, I’m ready for a vacation.

MB arrived yesterday. 3 weeks till trip. 2 weeks till long awaited true vacation. Slowly preparing the packing list. I am concerned about the weather and how my younger one will do ( 5 yrs old ).

OMG I am literally living this right now!! If I'd been able to focus AT ALL today I'd be done, but I keep sneaking onto disboards...

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:We have a router that we can shut off the internet if/when they reach a limit or they aren't doing chores. ALWAYS get a phone call about the internet went out.
Yeah-my kids wouldn't car if AC went out-my DH OTOH would sell a kidney to pay to get repair guy out ASAP.

I must focus now-one more thing and I am calling it quits for the day....o_O

Two weeks from right now, we'll be in the middle of our Disney Fairytale Wedding ceremony at Canada Terrace in Epcot! It took so much planning to get here, and now that it's suddenly so close I don't know where the time went! So excited for our trip, and for everyone else who's already in WDW or leaving soon!
You know I want to love this post Meghan

We leave Saturday!! Almost packed but not quite. Not only did we switch one of our resorts 4 days ago but 2 nights ago I moved around some dining!

Does anyone still do the lime green Mickey heads to "secretly" tell others they are DIS members at the parks? I think I still have a few of those laying around. I am thinking of pinning one to my new fannypack--yes--I WILL be wearing one this year:P.

I'm considering a fanny pack as well. I have 17 days to find a good one! I've never worn one, but I'm guessing it's got to be cooler than any cross-body or backpack I could bring.

Leaving in 2 hours for my parents, then tomorrow on road to Florida!
I am attempting to go bagless for most part this trip-will see how that goes-I do have very small cross-body "purse"(more like big wallet) that sometimes I am waved through bagless line with. Also have a lanyard with a pouch on it that fits my phone...

We did the lime green mickey heads for SWW meetups 2 years ago. Not sure where mine is now...

This is my thinking! I have always used a small purse-sized nylon backpack. It has always been great for packability BUT it makes my back so sweaty and it cuts into my shoulders and gets annoying after a while.

I found a great fannypack on Amazon a few months ago that I am excited to wear. A great medium size that I can easily have it sit more across my hip instead of around my waist to make it more comfortable in the August heat. I also got fannypacks for my DDs so that I am not carrying EVERYTHING. DH still has an old school leather fannypack from back in the 90s...lol

Just 3 days left until we leave for Disney.

Things, of course, start getting hectic now lol. It has been wonderful planning this trip with all of you here. I will miss the nearly daily ritual of checking in with this particular group of posters on a daily basis! I hope you all have wonderful trips, and hope that some of you wind up being part of the August 2018 group :)

I'm in the pro-fanny pack camp for sure. Our first tripmy mom and I each used a small crossbody purse and we had a backpack that the three of use took turns carrying. Truthfully it sucked. Last year was just me and DS and I used a fanny pack and ds carried a backpack, which we packed a lot lighter than before. I had my cell, cigarettes, lighter, and park map in the fanny pack. backpack had our ponchos, DS's pins/lanyard, autograph book, his cell and our portable charger. I'd love to try going with just a fanny pack for each of us but prefer to have our disney ponchos so I'm torn.

What fanny pack did you get from amazon. I like the one I have because it's small so it forces me to pack lightly but I'd love to have one that's just a bit bigger so I can fit my phone, charger and cigarettes in it

I was mistaken. I got the fannypack from ebags. It is the Travelon anti-theft classic waistpack. I has great pocket spaces and a hide-a-way bottle carrier. I like that I can use the bottle carrier or fold it up into the zipper compartment for less bulk. The material also feels substantial, not cheap.

We need to carry epipens, benedryl, sunblock, cellphones, disposable ponchos, ID, park map, glasses wipes, and lip balm. I think we can easily fit it all between us without anyone being too bulky. DH also usually has on cargo shorts so that helps too!
