*******Official August 2017 Countdown Thread ~ Feeling hot, hot, hot!!!******

As our trip gets closer it seems that I am more and more busy and have less time to come onto the boards. Trying to get caught up and keep caught up on this board though. Love that everybody's trip is getting close and can't wait to start reading some more reports.

Started packing last week and will do some more the end of this week. The tricky part will be timing out all the laundry!

Now I am starting to stress about weather. We are expecting the thunderstorms and will come prepared even if there is more rain. I just really don't want our travel days to be effected. Most importantly we HAVE to get home on Friday 25th. Hoping Mother nature is with us all this month!

Picked up some last minute toiletries from the dollar store today. :)
I've started making piles in the kids' rooms of clothes I want to bring - so they can avoid wearing at least some of it. I want to try to keep my last minute laundry to a minimum!

I'm so excited, but I am now at that stage where I am going over my plans and packing list a million times a day - convinced I have forgotten something!! I hate that feeling!

Hope the weather holds for everyone's travel days!

Had DS's birthday party yesterday and today is his actually birthday. One more thing checked off the to-do list but now my baby is officially a Disney adult :faint:

His big birthday gift this year was me hooking up service on my older cell so he has a working phone. It was a necessity as he'll be an afternoon latch key kid this year but just another reminder that he's growing up. I'd texted him prior to him opening it with the news that in exactly 3 weeks we'd be dining at beast's castle and he was so excited that he struggled reading the text aloud. It was so sweet seeing his mind running in a million different directions.

Now that his birthday is out of the way it's time to buckle down and start the slow process of packing.

Yay for birthdays! We are having DD's family party this sunday, so that will preoccupy me until then. I got her an Ariel cake. :)

I lucked out as she is turning 10 while we are in WDW, so she still paid child's price for her ticket and dining plan since she is 9 when she arrives. :yay:

I'll be sure she doesn't see your post b/c she is DYING for a phone (because, you know, she is the ONLY 10 year on earth who doesn't have a phone . :charac2:)

Ours are on their way. I seriously think they are stopping in every state from Florida to New Jersey!

In Jersey here also. Here's the detour our bands took 7/28 thru 8/5 delivery.

FL
IL
PA (2 towns)
NJ (3 towns)

It took the scenic route for sure. lol

Ours are taking a tour of the states as well. We live outside Seattle and ours have gone from

FL
IL
Vegas
Seattle
Auburn (my city)

They are supposedly out for delivery today, which will be a nice little bonus birthday present for DS... If they actually get delivered, that is. I'm not holding my breath as they were mailed 10 days ago. I don't understand why they take so long. I often get packages from all over the US sent first class and they only take 1-3 days. 10+ days is forever for such a small little package

Leaving for the drive tomorrow!
But so much to do today.
It's hard to be focused when you are excited! :bounce:

Us too!

We have been packing for weeks now, a little at a time. Timing laundry came down to doing laundry this morning (we leave tomorrow morning) so that I would have the clothes I needed clean for the trip.

Live reports . .. . there is a forum for that isn't there lol.

Tomh, I was just thinking of you! Hope you have a GREAT trip!!!! Can't wait to hear about everything :) HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is me as well. I need to basically get a month's worth of work done in the next 2 weeks before we leave, so I am swamped. I had a very productive day today though. Hopefully, I can keep that momentum up for the rest of the time before our trip!

2 weeks from today! We have been in fall, winter and spring, but never summer, so this will be somewhat new for us. After reading lots of advice here on footwear, I finally broke down and bought Teva Tirra's. They seem pretty good so far, but do need some breaking in. I also sprayed my Skechers Go Walks with some silicone spray to make them at least a bit water resistant. Also packing each of us a Columbia packable rain jacket and bringing a bunch of disposable ponchos. With all this rain preparation, anyone who is also traveling the week of 8/21, you should expect nothing but sunny skies! :sunny:

Huh. I just noticed my ticker - originally we were arriving on 8/22 - I guess I never adjusted the ticker with our new arrival date of 8/21 :) Ah, well.

****Sigh****

I am so behind on my packing game. I'm usually so much better than this. Life is crazy busy. DH left on a work trip out of state until Thursday, and we have said that this coming weekend HAS to result in some packing, lol.

I don't even have the suitcases down from the closet top shelf yet :rotfl: I actually prefer to pack all at one time instead of little by little. Since I have packing lists for the non clothes items, it feels more organized in my head to concentrate on packing in one swoop and it is now a family effort. Everyone has their packing cubes/envelopes out on the beds and suitcases on the floor. I go from room to room supervising, adding, etc. until we are all packed except for last minute items after morning showers before leaving for airport.
