*******Official August 2017 Countdown Thread ~ Feeling hot, hot, hot!!!******

We are going August 13-20 staying at Poly for the first time! We normally stay at CBR or POR/FQ so we are very excited to stay at Poly!
Now I have to go back and read all the posts... ;)

I am a bit jealous of everyone making ADRs. My day isn't until March 1st, but that is my fault. I planned my vacation for late August / early September. Still haven't bought our flight tickets. Unfortunately, Southwest just isn't a great deal for Pacific Northwest to MCO.

Our ADR date is Saturday and my spouse is so excited that he's planning on getting up at five and wants me to make a spreadsheet detailing what order he should try for the reservations. ("Do I try for the ROL package first? When should I attempt BOG?")

We've also pretty much decided that we're going to surprise the kids the night before, so they get to enjoy some of the anticipation. (It'll also make the animal logistics a little easier, what with kennel drop-offs and hamster deliveries.) I think I'm almost more excited about that part than anything else.

Ha! We've been doing the opposite as you lately. Live closer to the B6 airport, but driving to get to the Southwest airport! Small World.
Although because we had so many B6 points we are flying down to MCO on B6 but haven't decided how we are getting home yet. I hope to have that figured out tomorrow. We are considering splitting up on the way home with one parent and one kid on Southwest and the other parent and other kid on B6 due to B6 points and Southwest credits.

Does Southwest release flights in the morning or at noon? Anyone know the exact time?

In other random news: I bought Yellow Box "Mellow Mat" flip flops on Amazon and they are out for delivery this morning. I have been on the hunt for the perfect Disney sandals for YEARS now! I've tried Birkenstock, Spenco, Crocs, Fit Flop, and probably more brands that I can't even remember. It's not easy finding a sandal that is comfortable for 25,000 daily steps for a week!

We are booking our return flight tomorrow on Southwest. Flights are released between 6 and 6:30.

Last month we got amazing jet blue prices for the way down

Anyone else getting up early tomorrow to book flights for August from Southwest? We are Canadians but always fly out of Buffalo - hoping for good prices! Even with the exchange rate on our dollar we've found it cheaper to fly from Buffalo to MCO rather than Toronto to MCO. We already booked our flight to MCO, but need return flights which are scheduled to open up tomorrow. Good luck to anyone else booking flights! :goodvibes

I'm with you booking Southwest tomorrow. I have been checking every day for a week now. I had an experience two or three years ago that they released the flights a week earlier than they said they would. It drove me crazy, so I had to keep checking.

So excited for everyone getting their ADRs. My day is Saturday, and I can't wait.

Good luck tomorrow morning! I've been checking every day for a week too, just in case

We have 10 park days, plus a Disney Springs / off day. All together we have 11 table service meals planned, though we might drop one of them.

Matching stuff, we generally make tie dyed shirts for everyone in the family.

We are going August 4-15. We are staying at POP again. It will be our daughter's 18th birthday on 8-11 too. We took her and her best friend for her 16th birthday and stayed at AKL.
I've made a few ADR's, but the one I really want is a ROL ADR. Those have net been released for August yet.

We are going Aug 30th - Sept 4th and staying at the Boardwalk. Adult only trip to celebrate our 15th anniversary and go to our first Food and Wine festival. Just waiting to book our flights.

Well Southwest is driving me crazy this morning. I don't think they have the flights completely loaded in for sale yet, but it says they are.
Yes, it took a while for me to finally be able to purchase as well, even the paying part and getting email confirmation took longer than i expected.
We got a great price, but it's not non-stop. Luckily we don't have to change planes though! And on part 2 of the fight I'm sure we can move up to better seats towards the front. My son is sort of a nervous flyer so I'll have to do lots of explaining that we have landed, but we're not home yet!

I'm happy with my yellow box flip flops, but I might keep my eye on prices to buy a second pair so they will be like new in late August. There are some downsides to waiting until the end of summer to take summer vacation!

We don't do matching outfits, but me and the kids like to wear disney tees or disney bounding (either store bought or home made stuff).
If this party rumor is true, we might need to come up with something matching though.
I think people wearing minions and Dr. Suess shirts should be denied admission! LOL

Ours too!

Cant wait...kind of makes it official :-)

Well I have almost all of our ADRs. I was successful with Ohana, Chef Mickey, Via Napoli, Crystal Palace and 50s Prime Time. I wasn't able to get Tutto Italia, which seems odd, but I'll keep trying. It keeps saying there is no availability the entire week. :confused3

And, thanks to LorrieAnn-- I snagged a breakfast at Trattoria Al Forno. party:Both of my kids are huge Tangled fans, so that was awesome for both of them, and DD is also crazy for Ariel - so a win win for us!!!! They are over the moon!! Thank you LorrieAnn!!! :disrocks:

As for the matchy-matchy, I can't talk my family into it. We do coordinating color schemes so we don't clash in pictures, but the closest I get is having one photo attempt with all of us in matching ears in front of the castle (at least one with us looking at the camera, and at least one with us looking at the castle). I know it's cheesy and overdone, but it makes me indescribably happy. It's also the only 10-15 minutes of the entire vacation that I can get DH to wear ears. :)

So glad to have helped! I talked with DD8 about it and she is ok saving it for another time. We have QSDP this time and I really try to make the most of it w/o buying too much that isn't on the plan, but I'm excited for Flynn & Eric and for a new character meal!!!

I will make our ADR's on Monday. Our list for this trip is: Rose and Crown, Via Napali, San Angel, Sci-Fi, 50's Primtime, Ohana, Whispering Canyon, Tony's, Be Our Guest and Skipper Canteen.

Made our ADR's a week ago! Got everything we wanted and also added Trattoria al Forno breakfast yesterday morning!
173 days!!!!!

Just saw that there is going to be Early Morning Magic on both Sundays, and Tuesdays in August on the 1st, 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, and 22nd. Although all of those dates are listed on the calendar, no availability is showing up for any dates after June 25th right now. I guess just keep checking back, and see when the availability opens up!

We did EMM at MK last year and loved it! We were thinking of going again this year (we could do August 15th or 20th), but are considering trying Disney After Hours instead. Would love to do both, but only enough $ in the budget for one of the two events. Anyone else watching for DAH schedule to be released?

I booked Le Cellier for our trip for lunch (OOP). It wasn't available for booking when my ADR window opened up, but it was there yesterday, so yay!

Booked SW flights for $132 each way direct BUF to MCO - we also booked early bird check in - thought prices were decent.

The trip that wasn't supposed to happen is coming together! pixiedust:

Made ADRs this morning! Alas, could not manage BOG for dinner, but it's fine; I made a reservation there for lunch instead. If there's a party (our only MK day is 8/25) my husband wants to go, so either way we'll take a park break for an early dinner at Whispering Canyon and then head back.

We're going to modify our Tusker House dinner to an ROL package when those times are released. Arrival night is playing it by ear at Disney Springs, and Sunday we're trying Teppan Edo for the first time!

Got all my ADRs made this morning. I already had to make one change. For some reason I let it slip past me the Spirit of Aloha is not offered Sundays or Mondays. Still got it just had to change our schedule a bit.

If you really have your heart set on BOG, don't give up. If you keep checking back frequently eventually something may open. I tried that a few years ago and was able to get in after about 3 weeks. Good luck.
