****Official August 2014 Thread****

Coming in here super late, but I'm coming!!!! August 8/4-8/8 doing a split stay - 8/4-8/6 @ Pop and 8/6-8/8 at CBR.
Originially this was just going to be a non-park, relaxing by the pool and resort hopping vacation with me and my girls, but then my father offered to buy us tickets, so now I'm eyeball deep in planning mode!!!
I get to book my FP+ selections tomorrow - Actually midnight tonight if you want to get technical - and though I'm bummed to find out about this new tier 1 tier 2 crap (didn't have that back in Nov when we went last) I'm sure getting to every park at RD we will be fine, and be able to get on everything we want.

So my real question is - How hot/humid/manic thunderstorm-ie will it by in August? I've never be in the dead summer, so I'm very nervous about it. Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated! Looking forward to planning with all of you!!!!

From what I remember about staying in August (my last time staying during the summer was 4 years ago) it's very humid and hot and there will be a shower around noontime and that usually helps bring in the evening breeze. As long as you pace yourselves/plan breaks you should be fine!

This may be answered some place but I've looked and looked and can't find the answer. A friend traveling with me who really wants to just have an order of the Gray Stuff from BOG. All Dining reservations are gone, anyone know if you can either order this at a QS counter someplace or what's the chance we could get in on walk in for dessert or even order dessert to go?

at the 60 day mark do you have to get online and book everything at midnight because Fps will run out? I work and would like to do them when I get home, not do them at midnight on a work night. And if your staying onsite you can do all your days as soon as the first day hits the 60 day mark, is that correct?

Those of you who have been in August - What are the busses like?? Are they worse than in October (Our last two trips were in October)? I'm driving down, so I will have a car, but if I can avoid driving a day or two, I may do that. We are staying at Pop and CBR.

The grey stuff cupcake is also served at BOG lunch, so you can either walk in (probably a long line) or potentially get a fastpass lunch reservation before you go.

We stayed at Pop last August for 13 days. Buses were AMAZING!!

I assume this is the official Dis August 2014 group.

I see I am not in the list for dates in the world. I am July 28-31st WL and POR July 31st through August 3rd. Getting AP's so we can start planning our next trip when we get back. LOL.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking too. I'm starting to rethink my days. We usually don't do EMH, but since we can park hop, I'm thinking that it may be a good idea to do this with FP+.

Yeah I'm thinking about hopping too. Wasn't planning on it for this trip, but I'm rethinking now. The problem is I'd really like the emh at mk and the only morning they have them is a day we have an ADR at Epcot. Almost doesn't seem worth it! Toooooo many decisiooooooons!!!

Finally booked our flights today. It's been hanging over me for too long and I feel very relieved. It was hard to get my Mom to pull the trigger. She kept wanting to wait for a sale or something. Ended up getting $379 round-trip on SW from Boston. Ouch. We should have bought back in February.

A couple of them are place holders (hence why Spaceship Earth shows up twice, as does Mission: SPACE - though they're both rides we'd do multiple times so they'll probably just stay) just because the system kept trying to give us rides we don't enjoy.

It's also the first time I'm getting Jem on RnRC and Splash Mountain! I haven't been on either in about six years!

We told you in 2013 that the Limited Time Magic Friday the 13th “Unleash the Villains” event was a test for a possible hard-ticket event to be added to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the not-too-distant future. Well, Walt Disney World is expected to begin ticket sales for annual passholders and Disney Vacation Club members tomorrow, June 5th, for the very first “Villains Unleashed” after hours party to be held on August 23, 2014 from 8PM-1AM. Tickets will be sold to the general public starting June 9th
