****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

we must live close to each other! I'm on lake erie south of Brantford. I've never seen moose too, but just can't gather the gumption to go camping in algonquin! My friends used to go portaging there in university, but I'd rather float around on a raft with a Bacardi breezer. University was quite a while ago, but my priorities are the same: raft, little energy expended and a cold beverage. :)

Yes, not too far. We are about 40 minutues from Brantford (KW area).

I am just full of questions today! we have a long drive...so I was wondering what is everyone reading? need to pass the time!

Have you read the Kingdom Keepers series? I LOVE these books and as a middle school literacy teacher, recommend them ALL the time. I am taking the newest book (#5) to WDW with me. My oldest son is reading #2 right now. Even though they are targeted to MS kids, any Disney fan will love them! Grown up books: I am reading Islands in the Stream by Hemingway and the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich (the Stef Plum books are hilarious and light reads!).

I have a few. I am in a book club and we are reading weird sisters but I may skip it since I think meeting is when I am away. Also have little bee tring to get into it but not. I icked up(which Ill prob take) Mediterranean Summer. Its about a chef aboard a Yacht in sailing France and Italy and cooking local fare (YUM!) It includes recipes which I love. I really enjoy travel/destination type books a lot and especially food inspired.

Loved the Weird Sisters!

I read this amazing book a few months ago called The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder. You will laugh and you will cry. And there are A TON of Disney references!

I will have to download that book! I also started a series called Hidden Mickey- set in Disneyland. The first two are like a treasure hunt started by Walt Disney. Not the best written books and the third gets sort of weird, but I kept reading because of all of the Disney references.

Lol, practice pack, good thinking. I read a lot of ppl do the ziploc trick. Do you really save any space or is it just organization?

I just take folded shorts and fold shirt and underwear into them so they stay together. I have not understood a reason for a ziploc but share why you love it pls!

I used to ziploc when my kids were little and messy (Also DS had a notoriously touchy stomach ). Ease of packing was part of it, the main reason was for sanitary reasons. When we would head out for the day it was much easier to throw the ziploc'd spare change of clothes in the day bag. If they needed to be changed I would quick rinse the soiled clothes and into the ziploc they went without dirtying anything else in the bag.

As they've gotten older we still plan outfits but we do the same thing you do. Folded shorts with underthings and socks then the shirt on top.

I just read My Stroke of Insight, and it was absolutely fascinating! I think it changed my life, no joke. Let me know if you read it. :goodvibes

All Park and Resort Lists are updated! :)

And now that you've managed that - could you change our 8/11 Jiko to a 7:00pm at Sanaa :rolleyes1

I promise not to change them again -- more than 3 or 4 more times :rotfl:

And please drop us into ASMu from 8-7 to 8-14. Thankies !

:rotfl2: Too funny! Other boards I am on use DH/DS/DD/etc too only it means dear instead of Disney. I actually thought it was funny the same acronyms were used here. :lmao:

We had some fertility issues before DD was born, so I spent a lot of time on trying to conceive type boards. Well, "DTD" on those boards meant "do the deed". So when I first started coming on Dis, I'd read posts about how the first thing people were planning to do in Disney was "DTD". I was like "What? And they're telling everyone that?" I bet it took me a couple days before it dawned on me that DTD was Down Town Disney. :rotfl:

Jill Bolte Taylor's talk was at the first TED I ever attended and my first TED cry! What an amazing, amazing story. :goodvibes

Question for everyone.....
Do you buy trip insurance? Why or why not?

We have in the past, but not for the last 6 or 7 trips.
Even with some of the 'glitches' we've not had to cancel a trip - been late for one, but not enough to need to claim.
Airfare is normally moveable free on SW, and we only rarely get a package, so room only is cancellable, too. So I'd rather save the money to cover other expenses.
Self-booking also makes it harder, because you also have to self-book the insurance.

We probably should, in the future, as my parents are getting older, and my SiL had a stroke a few years ago..... :worried:

ok, do you guys wear makeup in WDW? I am not sure about it, it seems like it would melt of...lol.

If you do wht brand do you use? I am thinking it may be better to not bother, but also want ome nice picture....

First I use Smashbox Photofinish primer...makes a big difference in how anything on my face lasts. For foundation I use Lancome Teint Idole Freshwear - it has a light formulation that is buildable and doesn't look heavy. I use MAC Paint as an eyelid primer...the Bare Canvas color tones down the darkness of my eyelids, so I can either go without eyeshadow or any eyeshadow I wear doesn't budge at all. I wear waterproof liquid eyeliner and waterproof mascara. Oh, and cream blush...NARS Penny Lane is awesome. During the day I might touch up a bit with MAC Studio Fix powder and lipgloss in a neutral shade.

The last couple of times I was at Disney, I was suffering with horrible skin...horrible for me, anyway...turns out I have rosacea, but after just 4 days on medication, my skin was amazingly better and now it's pretty much clear...just a touch of redness every now and then. It will be so nice to go in the summer again and not feel like I have to struggle with my skin!

I wear waterproof mascara and eyeliner. They stay put even through sweat and Kali River Rapids. I use Neutrogena dry touch sunblock and usually a powder, but I've recently become a huge fan of BB cream, so I'll see how well that holds up in the heat and humidity.

On my lips I wear a tinted lip balm with SPF.

What BB are you using? I've been wondering how one might hold up in the parks, too.

For our longer trip (like to Disney), I call down for a LOT of additional hangers. Then I hang up as many of our clothes as possible in the closet and put the rest away in drawers - all sorted by day.

Unless I'm on a 1-night work trip, I always-always-always hang up clothes and put things in drawers...I just can't stand to live out of a suitcase! I don't sort by day though. (I've never been one of those people who could lay out her clothes the night before because who knows what I'll be in the mood to wear before I wake up!) There's something about putting things away that makes me feel more at home...though if you looked around my bedroom, you might wonder if I've lost my mind because there are way too many clothes piled up on any convenient surface right now! I should pretend I'm in a hotel so I'll get motivated to hang my stuff up! :lmao:

:rotfl: I thought that too!!! Also TTC = Trying To Conceive in my 'world' :rotfl2: That one took me awhile to figure out.

CM also has a WHOLE different meaning on infertility boards too.... :lmao:

(cm = cervical mucus for those who don't know)

Where I work if I need to put in a request for something I send an email to this one guy. He then forwards it to where it need to go with "CMs please comment" in the body. I have no idea what a CM at my work place:confused3 is so I just pretend that he is forwarding the email to Disney employees.

I just discovered TED a few days ago, after googling Jill. And yes, I totally cried as well!

Just popping in to say WOW!! Elaine and Nikki, you guys are awesome! I love how you broke down and organized all the new lists. Great job and thank you! With my computer issues, I wasn't able to update the old list half as much as I wanted to. Our little community of 20 or so people that we started out with has grown beyond belief! I just wish I was still able to join you guys. But, unexpected car repairs wiped my budget right out. :( Fortunately, I am rescheduling the trip for next year, so I may see some Team August people then! Have fun on your trips everyone! Please post if you're doing a trip report. I'd love to be there right along with you! :goodvibes
