We had some fertility issues before DD was born, so I spent a lot of time on trying to conceive type boards. Well, "DTD" on those boards meant "do the deed". So when I first started coming on Dis, I'd read posts about how the first thing people were planning to do in Disney was "DTD". I was like "What? And they're telling everyone that?" I bet it took me a couple days before it dawned on me that DTD was Down Town Disney. :rotfl:

:lmao:

Just popping in to say WOW!! Elaine and Nikki, you guys are awesome! I love how you broke down and organized all the new lists. Great job and thank you! With my computer issues, I wasn't able to update the old list half as much as I wanted to. Our little community of 20 or so people that we started out with has grown beyond belief! I just wish I was still able to join you guys. But, unexpected car repairs wiped my budget right out. :( Fortunately, I am rescheduling the trip for next year, so I may see some Team August people then! Have fun on your trips everyone! Please post if you're doing a trip report. I'd love to be there right along with you! :goodvibes

I hope you are able to reschedule for next year! And I'll be posting my TR on here when I start it.

ok, do you guys wear makeup in WDW? I am not sure about it, it seems like it would melt of...lol.

If you do wht brand do you use? I am thinking it may be better to not bother, but also want ome nice picture....

I keep my same process. I don't usually wear makeup to work, only on the weekends. So when I'm on vacation, I like to feel my best so I wear it everyday. I use mineral powder like many others said as well as Clinique concealer, Almay foundation (just a little), and the mineral powder. Then whatever eyeshadow I chose that day, Stila liquid eyeliner on the top lid (HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It doesn't smudge a bit and is really easy to put on. I think it's like $15 at Sephora), and eyeliner on the bottom. Finally blush, and then a finishing spray that my friend got me into. I'm sure you can get something like this at Sephora but she found it at David's Bridal while she was getting sized for my wedding. It's a finishing spray that will make sure you makeup doesn't sweat, melt, or rub off. It's really good. I'll get the name for you guys.

I am also a Department Head in a healthcare facility, and I am required to be present when state comes in for our Annual. As long as i'm not on vacation already. If they come in on a Friday and I'm scheduled for vacation on Saturday, then I can't go. But if I leave on Friday and they come in Saturday i'm free to go. They came during my vacation last year! It's awful! I moved facilities recently (same company) and told my boss upon hire (she begged me to move to her facility :yay:) that if state did come in, and my vacation was during that time period, I would be able to go without any issues. She agreed :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

How lucky for you! Seems the rest of my facility works the way yours does but things are different for the nurse managers. Honestly, I don't think it's fair but I don't have any control over it. Last year two social workers were away when they arrived and they weren't asked to return. The one nurse manager who was away in Cape Cod was called back in. Sigh:mad: I am praying that they show up within the next 2 weeks. Everyone seems to think they will be. I hope they are right!

Team August, any suggestions for sunscreen for someone with sensitive skin? I'm thinking of trying Neutrogena ultra sheer because I'd like something light and not too sticky. Has anyone tried this?

Quick question for everyone. I was wondering if anyone had an experience with the Brita water bottles and how they worked? I was thinking of getting these for our trip.

DD has sensitive skin and it's the only sunscreen she can use. She prefers the spray as it goes on evenly and dries quickly.

We use blue lizard for sensitive skin.

Hope it works out for you!.

We also live Blue Lizard. I order it online, cant find anyone that carries it but its the best lasting in heat/sweat and water and never causes any skin issues.

On that note, if everyone could say a little prayer (or throw a little pixie dust our way) that they show up VERY soon, so I don't need to use the trip insurance and I can fully throw myself into looking forward to our trip, it would be greatly appreciated. Every time I begin getting excited about leaving my mind wanders back to "what if I have to cancel because of survey" mode....it REALLY stinks!

pixiedust: Prayers & Pixie Dust coming your way!

Just sunscreen.

OMG, I just realized that my obsession with Disney and DISboards is consuming my life... I just sent someone a text and referred to my son as DS and didnt even realize it until they asked what I meant by that :rotfl2: :lmao:

:rotfl: LOL!!

I am just full of questions today! we have a long drive...so I was wondering what is everyone reading? need to pass the time!

I just finished 50 Shades of Grey and am currently reading Straight from the Hip which is the 3rd book in the Lone Star Sisters series by Susan Mallery. My SIL gave me a bunch of books while I was visiting that she thought I'd enjoy.

Have you read the Kingdom Keepers series? I LOVE these books and as a middle school literacy teacher, recommend them ALL the time. I am taking the newest book (#5) to WDW with me. My oldest son is reading #2 right now. Even though they are targeted to MS kids, any Disney fan will love them! Grown up books: I am reading Islands in the Stream by Hemingway and the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich (the Stef Plum books are hilarious and light reads!).

Loved the Weird Sisters!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Stephanie Plum series!! Also love the Miss Julia series by Ann B. Ross. I keep thinking I should read the Kingdom Keepers series just haven't done it yet.

We bought some to test for the trip. DS6 loves it, DD4 likes it, DH likes it but finds it doesn't hold enough water for him and I'm the only one that doesn't really care for it because I don't like that I have to squeeze the bottle to drink (yes, I am that lazy :) ) ... But the water tastes good.

What BB are you using? I've been wondering how one might hold up in the parks, too.

I've tried several from $60 a tube at Sephora to $12, and I have to tell you the $12 Garnier I picked up at Wallgreens is the best. It looks a little shiny when you first put it on, but after a few minutes it sets nicely and it really stays all day. It only has SPF15 though, so I'm still going to wear Neutrogena ultra sheer 55 underneath it.

Florida tap water tastes like sewer water to me, we swear by these Brita bottles. They aren't too large so they fit nicely in a small backpack, and they really filter out the taste.

A side note though, if you use flavor packets or anything, don't put them in a Brita bottle, use a regular bottle of water. The flavoring will trap in the filter and ruin in.

The drinking fountains in the parks all kind of have lukewarm water as well, except for one. The coldest drinking fountain in all of WDW is in Liberty Square, to the left of the Haunted Mansion queue, right in front of the Liberty Belle. We sat there for 15 minutes last September, gulping LOL.

I am not reading anything right now. So, I need some ideas myself.

What do you guys like to read? I read a ton of paranormal romance. Right now I'm reading Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness, it's the sequel to A Discovery of Witches, also by her. I absolutely love it.

If you like Stephanie Plum, (I don't, but I have huge problems with Janet Evanovich), and are ok with a little other-worldliness the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones is FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! She's a private detective, but she's also the Grim Reaper and sees dead people. Highly entertaining. There are four books in that series so far.

If you like romance on the smutty side, check out the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole. They start a touch slow with the first one, but get progressively better as they go alone. The last one, Lothaire, is TO DIE FOR!

Just ask for the free ice water from any QS stand. It is filtered water...no need to use water fountains.

Team August, any suggestions for sunscreen for someone with sensitive skin? I'm thinking of trying Neutrogena ultra sheer because I'd like something light and not too sticky. Has anyone tried this?

My DD has very fair skin and I have sensitive skin. We tried three types last Aug Neutrogena, Bannana Boat and a store brand all of them spray on. Neutrogena was by far the one we liked the best and was also the most expensive, the store brand was the cheapest and was the one we liked the second most, and Bannana Boat is something I just would not waist my money on again. After spraying in on we felt sticky for hours. Unfortunately, I still have a can of Bannana Boat left over from last year and I don't plan to toss out an unopened can of sunscreen. We went threw five cans in six days (I brought two cans of each) for just the two of us but DD did not burn and I did not have any issues with my skin the whole trip. This year I plan to bring six cans of Neutrogena (just waiting for a good sale) and my one lonely can of Bannana Boat. The store brand we used last year has been discontinued.

I look for BOGO or buy one get one half off sales at Walgreens or Rite Aid for Neutrogena sunscreen. I swear by the Ultra Sheer Dry Touch as well. My daughter and I both HATE feeling sticky. In humidity, it's just double miserable.
