ok, do you guys wear makeup in WDW? I am not sure about it, it seems like it would melt of...lol.

If you do wht brand do you use? I am thinking it may be better to not bother, but also want ome nice picture....

I wear waterproof mascara and eyeliner. They stay put even through sweat and Kali River Rapids. I use Neutrogena dry touch sunblock and usually a powder, but I've recently become a huge fan of BB cream, so I'll see how well that holds up in the heat and humidity.

On my lips I wear a tinted lip balm with SPF.

I don't wear makeup at all during the summer. No use really.

If I am going to be outside awhile, then I do put on some lip sunscreen.

SUMMER VACATION PLANS
hmmm...we love to travel and put a huge priority on family trips because it really pushes us to spnd quality family time together.

The 1st weekend of August, we are thinking of driving 8hrs north for a short 4 day weekend camping in Algonquin! It's a long way for such a short time. But, we have a Japanese exchange student staying with us for 2 weeks and we'd love for her to see moose. (Of course, I've lived in Canada 13 yrs now and have never yet seen moose - so the trip is partly for me!).

we must live close to each other! I'm on lake erie south of Brantford. I've never seen moose too, but just can't gather the gumption to go camping in algonquin! My friends used to go portaging there in university, but I'd rather float around on a raft with a Bacardi breezer. University was quite a while ago, but my priorities are the same: raft, little energy expended and a cold beverage. :)

We don't purchase trip insurance (we have some through our credit card and some through CAA). We ALWAYS get the extended medical though. Without boring you to death.. having that 150 dollar policy covers us all for a year and saved us 18,000 dollars when my son was hospitalized in Orlando.
Fellow Canadian friends, please please trust me when I say it is worth every penny. A week long stay without insurance could bankrupt you. That 18,000 was for treatment, tests and ambulance rides etc. for 2 nights!!!

I completely agree! We went for our honeymoon and I had a miscarriage the first day (we had been on fertility treatments for years up to that). It was heartbreaking enough, but if I hadn't had medical coverage through work, we'd still be paying it off and that was 12 years ago! DH had enough to worry about that he made an error n the insurance form and we had to pay $88 for one small thing, which was a drop in the bucket compared to the ambulance, tests, hospital, etc. ths time we made sure we're both covered up the wazoo with medical insurance, just in case.
No trip insurance though. Hopefully we won't need it!

I dont leave the house with out make up. I wear what I wear at home, slightly less eye shadows. I put on tinted moisturizer with SPF in it, water proof almay mascara, blush and lip balm with SPF usually and a sweep of shadow. I dont like myself in photos natural and feel very uncomfortable.

Thanks for looking! I'm just going to get the pack of 10. I'll have 5 or 6 extra, so if anyone wants a couple, PM me!

In other news, I did a little "practice" packing this morning. DH and DS officially think I've lost it :rolleyes1 I didn't pack any of the big peoples' stuff, but I packed our "must keep with us" carry-on (with our DSLR camera, swimsuits, flip flops, & DD's floatie), our misc. stuff carry-on that I'm ok with gate checking if we need to (water bottles, misting fans, stuff like that) and a 3rd carry-on with DD's clothes. I put 8 outfits, including underwear, into separate quart-sized ziplocs, then one ziploc with 2 sets of jammies and one with a couple swimsuits. Then 3 more with princess dresses and a gallon size one for her fancier Disney store Aurora dress. Oh, and 3 pairs of shoes. And the carry-on wasn't even half full! I'm now thinking I can get both kids' clothes into one carry-on. Packing in ziplocs is AMAZING! I think I might be able to swing the "pack a carry-on in a checked bag" trick and end up with a whole extra suitcase to pack souvies in on the way home :woohoo:

Lol, practice pack, good thinking. I read a lot of ppl do the ziploc trick. Do you really save any space or is it just organization?

I just take folded shorts and fold shirt and underwear into them so they stay together. I have not understood a reason for a ziploc but share why you love it pls!

I am planning to put my clothes in carry on and DH and kids in suit case with food items(and rum pirate:)
I am packing my kids a "brown bag" lunch for plane since we fly at 11:30(we have done this before.) DH be seated with one kid and me the other in front of them so I dont want to need to pass items around. I will get them bagels and throw in grapes or some fruit and get drink on plane. I have m&ms as a treat (ok its a be quiet treat.)

I use mineral makeup. It does well up to the extreme heat we've had lately. Most mineral makeups also have SPF and I use it for my daily protection but I don't go in the sun much normally. I plan on using real SPF in addition to my mineral makeup foundation for extra protection more than anything. Then just a tinted balm with spf and waterproof mascara. I'd say if you want to wear full make up to check out mineral makeup. I use a mix of both Bare Minerals and Meow Cosmetics (online only, much cheaper than BM and more color choices but I still use some BM stuff that I have from a long time ago since it doesn't expire).

I used ziploc bags for kids' clothes last time- for me, it was more organization and didn't save a ton of space. I labeled them with the boys' names and they could just grab a bag and get dressed in the morning. I will prob do it again this time.

Okay, I mainly stick to beer and wine but you all have persuaded me--I am soooo taking some rum for sitting by the pool cocktails! haha!

I second the mineral makeup- it def won't melt off. I barely wear any makeup, but I do usuallly put on a mineral foundation with an SPF. I use Bare Essentuals and Mary Kay.

Did the ziplock trip last time. It made dressing the kids easier so there were no fits over what shirt goes with what shorts. Plus it saves some space.

I'm a mineral make up girl too.

OMG, I just realized that my obsession with Disney and DISboards is consuming my life... I just sent someone a text and referred to my son as DS and didnt even realize it until they asked what I meant by that :rotfl2: :lmao:

I'm not a big makeup wearer and definitely don't plan to even bring any with to WDW. I'm even debating whether or not to bring a curling iron or flat iron because my hair will just frizz up with the humidity and will end up in a pony every day. I'm sure I will bring something, though, because it still looks better if I do something at the beginning of the day.

I think it saved a ton of space to do the ziploc and squeeze the air out. Based on how much space DD's clothes took up for the camping trips we did earlier this summer, I was hoping that all her stuff would fit in one carry-on. With the bags, it literally wasn't even half full. And I didn't have any fancy vacuum or anything, just put the bag between my legs and squished the bag and then sealed it. Where it really made the biggest difference was the princess dresses. Those would have taken up a ton of room without the air sucked out. And it will be SO handy to just grab a bag and go. And throw an extra in the stroller in case she wants to play in the splash pad or something. And my DD, unlike me, is totally girly. So when it comes time to actually pack, she will get a big kick out of picking her own outfits and picking what hair thing and necklace to wear with each outfit. Then it all goes in a bag and we're all set :cool1:

I am just full of questions today! we have a long drive...so I was wondering what is everyone reading? need to pass the time!

So far it seems that most have not bought trip insurance.

Unfortunately, the past two years I have had to or I'd have had an anxiety attack. I have to pay for a "cancel for work reasons" rider. I'm a nurse manager and I'm required to be present for our annual Department of Health Survey. Much to my dismay, the survey falls in the summer...usually in August. The exact day they will show up isn't known and last year they showed up 2 weeks before we were scheduled to leave. I actually thanked them for showing up when they did (they looked at me like I was nuts because most are very nervous when they come). A DOH survey can make or break a facility hence the requirement that I be present.

On that note, if everyone could say a little prayer (or throw a little pixie dust our way) that they show up VERY soon, so I don't need to use the trip insurance and I can fully throw myself into looking forward to our trip, it would be greatly appreciated. Every time I begin getting excited about leaving my mind wanders back to "what if I have to cancel because of survey" mode....it REALLY stinks!

I am sending a prayer for you! I hope they come VERY soon.

I use Bare Minerals which works extremely well and it doesn't melt off! I would go for any mineral makeup, like some people are saying.

I have a few. I am in a book club and we are reading weird sisters but I may skip it since I think meeting is when I am away. Also have little bee tring to get into it but not. I icked up(which Ill prob take) Mediterranean Summer. Its about a chef aboard a Yacht in sailing France and Italy and cooking local fare (YUM!) It includes recipes which I love. I really enjoy travel/destination type books a lot and especially food inspired.

:rotfl2: Too funny! Other boards I am on use DH/DS/DD/etc too only it means dear instead of Disney. I actually thought it was funny the same acronyms were used here. :lmao:

Hope it works out for you!

ETA- I found the "credential holder" at Staples where I could just buy 1ea, didn't have to buy 10. DH looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if he'd wear one, but DS said will wear it. And his phone even fits inside, so yay for that!

So glad you found something that will work so well for you!

I have out of country health coverage through my work insurance. When I did my Caribbean cruise this spring, I questioned them intensively about my coverage and they assured me I should be just fine and shouldn't need any additional medical coverage. I'm pretty sure it won't cover a LOT of extras, but I suppose if I'm covered for the basics, I will feel comfortable.

I wear makeup :) Just my usual makeup. I will also flat iron. Although maybe only at nights as I will likely pony/braid/bun my hair during the day due to heat. Just feel weird without - plus I want lots of pics.

I'm much more south - in Windsor where we claim to be Canada's southernmost everything :)

I did this for one trip. Awesome for organization. A MUST-DO if my kids go to sleepover camp. I felt I was wasting so many baggies though.

For the last couple of years, I lay our clothes flat in the suitcase. This way, there are fewer fold lines and wrinkles - plus it takes up less space. I also started packing our clothes as a family. Rather that 1 suitcase/bag for each person, I pack our clothes by day. I sometimes even have sheets of paper labelled to separate each Day!! So Day 1 will have my full outfit, then DH's outfit, then DS and DD all together. This means I can typically leave our clothes all packed in the suitcase and just take clothes out by day. I only do this for short trips when unpacking is too much hassle.

For our longer trip (like to Disney), I call down for a LOT of additional hangers. Then I hang up as many of our clothes as possible in the closet and put the rest away in drawers - all sorted by day.

I will also bring a fold up laundry basket to toss the dirty clothes into - also helpful to take to the laundry by the pool.
