All of you are wonderful! Sorry about my panic spree this morning... THANK YOU for making me laugh at myself now as I read back all that I wrote. For those of that asked, Kinderkord is this contraption that Joan Lunden created that is sort of a wrist watch-looking thing for the adult with one for the kid and a long retractable cord tethering the two. I kinda think it's cool- my husband hates it (and the backpack tethers) ...calls them leashes.

It's so funny to me how I have been so happy and excited about this trip, then on the 2-week mark exactly, I totally freaked! :lmao: Thanks again for the support! Equally amazing to me are the friendships I've made here, with people who live thousands of miles away. :grouphug: here's to life-long DIS bonds! -Stace

I used to have a "child leash" thing for Heidi. It wasn't retractable though. It had a wrist strap for mommy and one for child. I really only used it at airports. I don't think you'll likely need that at Disney, but if Cammie is the type to run away, hide under clothes racks etc. then you might want to try it. You can always put it away if you find you don't need it. Heidi likes to use it now to attach dolls to her own wrist.

Does anyone else experience an absolute meltdown at the two week mark??? I've been getting migraines and panic attacks. :sad2: I've been planning since March, so in no way am I the least little bit unprepared, but I can't stop my brain from doing all these weird checklists  TWO WEEKS from today (right at this time) I'll be at Epcot and it will all be worth the months of planning... As for right now...... Do I NEED a Kinderkord? Pressed penny book? Where the heck do I find a plastic shoe organizer since dollar tree and walmart don't have a clue what I'm talking about? Can I leave a cooler with bell services? How many power strips do I need? Do i need to bring my own hair dryer? (some hotel hair dryers are like my 1 year old blowing on my head...) Will I sleep a wink in the next 13 days?? :rotfl:

I've been to WDW so many times I can't remember and I still start getting anxious around the 2 weeks to go mark. Making lists and more lists helps me. Once everything is packed and ready I'm fine.

So let's see what's bugging you?

Kinderkord, can't help. My kids are old now but when they were young I tried something similar. Didn't work well but each child is different.

Pressed penny books are in the gift shops & parks.

Plastic shoe organizers are handy for travel but you could use LL Bean toiletry bags (or something like it) that hang from the bag of the door or jewelry organizers that hang. Bed Bath & Beyond,Target anyone who sells back to school or dorm room stuff. Don't knock yourself out though it's not that much of a convenience. Side note: I actually started that tip about 20 years ago. :P

Leaving a cooler with Bell Services, yes. They have a fridge too for anything you need kept cold too.

One power strip should be fine. Set it up at home first but one should be enough. I use it for charging batteries and phones.

Don't forget a cheapo nighlight.

The hair dryers are good but not great. Bring yours.

Don't worry. You've done all the research, ADRs and planning and probably all the packing by now. That's it! Fini! Your job now is to rest up for the big trip!

Would you mind sharing what they charge per person for the pirates cruise? This does sound like fun!

About $54/person, for 3 it was around $172, this included tip for the "pirate" boat driver host. It's definately a splurge, but to rent a pontoon for up to 8 people (IF you can snag one) is around $350. So figure about double what you'd pay for the dessert party.

We are doing this August 20th...............then heading to MK emh til 2am!!!

Doing the same as you only a different date in August - aren't you about ready to bust with excitement  I know I am pirate:

just booked the Wishes Dessert Party for Aug 26th!! anyone going to MK that day we'll be there :)

Docs and luggage tags came today (ME stuff came the other day)...

4 weeks and counting...

Two week meltdown in progress here!! I did most of my planning a couple months ago and set everything aside so I wouldn't obsess over it and make myself nuts, and realized a few days ago that August 3rd is coming fast!! It didn't really come up on my radar because I am still trying to get through July and haven't started worry about August yet, :rotfl: Now i am starting to panic, but I know I am in good shape.. all reservations are set, itineraries set, just double checked park hours, etc...

Still have to finish making our Tshirts, that will be next sunday's project, no more putting it off! I have a few things set aside that I picked up at the dollar store, but I haven't really packed anything else yet. Still need to get myself a new pair of sneakers and break them in, will be doing that tomorrow!

Have to get the kids (and hubby!) back on their walking routine, we are commencing our 2 week boot camp! Although we did go to Darien Lake theme park yesterday, we were there from noon til 11pm and they did great with all the walking! I told them Disney would be kinda like the park, only more crowded and hotter. But good to know they have good stamina :)

Ok, have to stop worry about planning and go to bed! Must be rested up for the big trip :thumbsup2

ps. I had a horrible time finding the over the door shoe holders in the Dollar Store, finally found them in the aisle with all the organizational stuff, under something else. The package was square and flat and it was hard to tell what it was at first glance... hope that helps!!

Oh yeah, forgot to share the details of our trip :)

Leaving NY on Aug 3rd, driving to Panama City, FL to visit my sister, then will be in Orlando Aug 6-14. Staying offsite at the Caribe Royale. Can't wait!!

I'm starting to get worried, I haven't received any documentation at all, and we've been paid in full for over two weeks! We arrive in a month, exactly. Is this normal? I remember getting my mickey mail last year in early July, and our trip starts two days later this year.

I was getting a bit antsy myself, wife, MIL and I are staying at CBR 8/16-8/19, but I figured last week I'd give them a few more days before calling; lo and behold, tix showed up today. Crisis averted :cool1:

I noticed you mentioned in a previous post... Darien Lake. My Aunt and Uncle lived in Buffalo and when I was a child in the late 60's early 70's we would visit them in their trailer campsite at a "park" called Snyder's Darien Lake. It just had a club house with a buffet and an Oompa band... a lake to swim in. Nothing fancy. Is this the same place? Did 6 flags buy it or something?

I am confused why you people have to pay in full before hand? Our travel agent told us we could make our final payment upon check-in? We're room only? Does that make the difference?

What I didn't get yet, is my AP ticket renewal vouchers. I ordered those on July 7th? Anyone else have it take so long? Might it be because of the 3 months free offer... you pay for a 12 month renewal and get 15 months! :yay:

Received my envelope of paperwork today....Aug 17-24 @ POP with dd14 and celebrating my belated 50 th B-Day !!!:woohoo:

Count me in for the meltdowns! We leave on Aug 12th for a 2 night stay at CSR for the Tupperware conference, then a week at Pop! Last week I suddenly started worrying (after 4 fabulous trips to WDW with my DH & boys) that suddenly on this trip I wouldn't enjoy it. That maybe somehow all the remembering past trips, dreaming of a future trip, and obsessing over this trip would somehow ruin the joy and magic for this trip.

Then last night on the Disboards I saw a link for the DL 55th anniversary flash mob. I watched it and got all teary. Watched it again, more tears. I'm so excited for our trip!

Even though I've been planning and planning, there's still much to decide. :confused3
-Should I buy the $30 Crocs for DS8 & DS10 to wear, or figure out another footwear option for them?
-Should I try to get any lunch or dinner ADR's? We have the counter service free dining, and plan to have 2 sit down bfasts (hubby's request).
- What will count as a "personal item" for the plane. We're hoping to pack 2 large suitcases ($25 each, each way), and then each bring a carry-on and a personal item (free).
- Should I use anti-perspirant on our feet? Or body glide? Or powder? Or nothing????
- How many and what kind of snacks should I bring? I don't want to overpack and bring things we won't eat, but we'll have 3 days before our dining plan starts, and it might be nice to have some things for our room.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.........

Today I decided to bring my 2 new pair of super comfy super cushy flip flops, and then to bring my crocs for "emergency shoes" rather than bringing tennis shoes which I never wear. I'm hoping it's a good decision.

Only 24 days for me!

Yes

If you book a vacation package through WDW, then your final payment is due 45 days prior to your trip. We usually go al la carte booking all pieces separate but to add dining plans you have to book a package. I have to say, doing it for the first time I'm tickled to be leaving soon having my trip paid in full. Now the problem with that is since it's paid in full, it'll be easier to justify spending even more since everything else is paid

We are planning MK that day! My DD5 has a BBB appt at 2:30 and we have dinner res at CRT at 5:30

So I just got all of our Disney info for our August trip that we cancelled! But we got 3 luggage tags and an arcade pass that I think we can use in November! haha

I'll update all of the newcomers to the thread tomorrow...it's my day off!

I just noticed that Fantasmic! has added show the week I am there (8/14-8/19). They added a 10:30p show!

Just when I think I have everything under control for this trip I start thinking of more things to plan. For one I don't have much snacks planned, just some peanut butter crackers for the plane. DH says he doesn't want to pack snacks, that we will buy Disney food. But I was thinking it might come in handy. Also what do you pack to entertain the kids while waiting in lines? I have DDs 6 & 1 and don't want the trip to be all about lines, so if I could make take things to do and make that time go fater I would.
