Any truth to this? certain bags flagged at security checkpoint?

I got stopped every day last trip until a security officer finally told me that my sunglass case has a little metal in the hinges, so now I carry a cloth one!

It's actually the metal that reinforces the shell of the case, not the hinges. (Not that it matters, its annoying either way and I'm glad you've found an alternative.)

I'm a 71 year old grandma who needs an ECV...hardly your typical threat! I used to carry a tank of oxygen in case my portable oxygen battery ran out. I can't go through the metal detector, but my bag got flagged EVERY DARN TIME! Turns out that the regulator for the tank which was in my purse) looked awfully similar to any number of dangerous items. Bought a tiny battery operated power source and haven't had that problem since.

I never have a bag with me and I still get dinged about 50% of the time. All i carry with my is my wallet keys and phone. I now always hold my keys and phone out.
