Official AUGUST 2008 CODES to be posted here please!!:)

Okay- I am trying to justify my August trip! I got a pin code for 40% off. We can do the GF for 3645 for just the room or I can go PO for under 3000 inculding park tickets and dining! Decisions decisions! We are a family of 6 if that helps. Our kids are all 5 and under. Ugh! What do you think?:confused3

This is just me, but now that my kids are older (14, 11 & 9), I've learned to factor in their appreciation capabilities. For example, if my husband and I want to eat somewhere special, we'll go out and leave the kids home (order them a pizza, or prepare something for them before we leave) because they just don't appreciate ambience/atmosphere or good cuisine - they'll still want to order pizza or chicken strips. Same for hotel - they still could care less about our hotel (unless it was just outright gross). They would no more appreciate GF than AS in the same manner that my DH and I would. So I wouldn't spend that much money on something that 3/5 of the family wouldn't appreciate.

Now if it was just me and DH, I would totally consider GF if money wasn't an issue. Does this make any sense??

I agree with Vicki. With your children that young, they won't appreciate the atmosphere of GF at all. I don't think their pool is all that great either. At least I haven't read and raving reviews on it.

Spending the money on tickets and the ease of the dining plan, that is what I would have done when my kids were that young. Even now, I don't think they would want to stay at GF.

The monorail is nice if you are doing a lot of MK, have you tried the contemporary? The kids might enjoy the monorail running right through their hotel more.

I certainly can see what you are saying regarding the kids- however- it is actually my son (5) who has been asking to saty at GF. DH doesn't really care much for it!:rotfl: As for food, well they all are adventurous eaters. They will try anything and actually enjoy foods that I wouldn't expect (calamari, lobster etc.) At any rate I think we as a family at this point would have more fun at a more laid back resort and I am also thinking budget too. We love the Poly and I didn't price out the Contemporary yet but I did reserve a room at POR unless we change our mind. We got room, park hoppers w/water parks, and dining for 10 days for just under $3600. That is just so cheap! I would like to one day stay at GF but I would like to stay in a suite there. I do agree though that when the kids are a little older it might be better. We've stayed deluxe and loved it but we have also stayed value and had a ball too. We just got back from ASMU so I think I am going to go with a cheaper resort since it will be a second trip this year.

We are going August 10-19. I received the 40% off room code, and hoping for free dining to come out as that would be a better deal for us. I know the chances for free dining during our dates are slim, and feel lucky that we got the room discount. Now I am watching for prices to drop on airfares. ;)

Whatever you choose will be wonderful as you going to WDW for a second time in one year. :cheer2: Enjoy the memories.

Thank you. We truly do enjoy every minute with our little ones. I think we are going to stick to POR unless free dining comes out and I can upgrade to the Poly for the 40% off the room. Then it would cost about the same and we have the monorail.

Unless I just misread your post, Disney only lets us use one discount at a time. You would have to pick free dining OR the 40% off the room.

Have not seen any codes for August yet. Where is the 40% off code from?

Have not seen any codes for August yet. Where is the 40% off code from?

A code that was sent to select households via email or postcard. Not everyone gets one of those. You can call and ask to see if one is assigned to your name or household, but it is just the luck of the draw.

I also want to go to WDW starting on Aug 10. I called the other day to check on a pin code, but they said I don't have one. Did you receive your code via email or regular mail? Did it arrive recently? I'm also hoping for free dining during this time if I don't get a room code, but I'm not holding my breath for it to start that early. I will keep hoping for a code of some kind!!

Just called...

No Code.. sniff sniff :sad2:

How often do I need to call back

May I ask what number is everyone calling to inquiring if there is a code attached to their name?
Thanks-I want to make that call also, lol!!

I called the other day, the number was for regular Disney reservations-1-407WDisney, and the CM said there was no "pin" connected to my name. My Father-in-law used to get pins, but I have never rec'd a discount code.

We went last August ang got free dining. It was great.

By the way, I would suggest to anyone that has not gone before, do not get park passes for every day. There are defiantely times when you will want to hang out at the resort or go to DTD or a water park. On those days you do not need a park pass. Even w/ free dining you only need to get a 1 day pass. I still have mine from last Aug. I still have park hoppers from years ago.

Ok I'm new to the whole disboards thing so bear with me. My husband and I have been to Disney 9 times since 1999 and ever got married there in 2005. I have never booked a trip using codes. We went last August and got somewhat of a discount with AAA. We stayed at the Boardwalk 7 nights with water view, tickets, and DDP for $3782. We would like to go again this Aug.

What is this mysterious postcard that magically appears in your mailbox?:confused3

When you say you call and ask if there are any promos attached to your reservation, what does that mean? I am totally out of the loop. Where have I been

:jumping1: I'm SOOOOO excited. I got the 40% code in my emailbox last night! I had to switch to POP for the values (it's a cheap trip), but I saved $200 on my AAA rate. Wheeeeee.

Now, just to tell the kidlet on her birthday this Sunday! :cool1:
