Official AUGUST 2008 CODES to be posted here please!!:)

We're going the 9th through the 16th. That week because it's my son's 5th birthday and, conveniently, the beginning of the bounceback offer that was left in our room a couple weeks ago. We could have gone the next week, but then school starts after that.

We booked the 10th through the 16th using the bounceback offer - ~$227 a night at Beach Club (30% discount). I have a separate reservation for the 9th at the AAA rate of ~$276 a night. I'm hoping I get a better rate when the passholder rates come out, but I'm not holding on my breath. I tried one more time to call today and beg for 40% off, but after being on the phone for 25 minutes on the lady trying darn near everything... no 40%. I'm trying really, really hard to just be happy about my 30%.

And airfare is so much higher this trip. I'm booked at about $800 for our 3 tickets from Chicago to MCO. I usually plan on less than $600 for all three and usually end up better than that. I'm having a hard time accepting that I'm paying that much to fly to Orlando.

I just reserved the Poly from August 21-24 at 40% off rate! I just called and asked if I had a pin code with my name, she said yes, and started pricing room only for me. This is what she gave me:

For Value - $49
For Moderate - $89
For Deluxe (Poly) - $204
For Deluxe (Contemporary) - $198

I booked a Poly gardenview! :cheer2:

Maybe my math skills are really bad but I just called to see if I had a better code (and I didn't) and while I had the CM on the phone I had him price out a moderate for me. With my 30% discount applied the moderates would be $117. That's for August 13-17. That seems a bit on the high side doesn't it??:confused3

We're having the exact same issue. We're going 10th to the 19th from Jersey. Airfare for three was anywhere from $800 to $900.:scared1:

I can't justify that when I've gotten it for well under $600 for previous trips. We'll be driving it this year since we always rent a car and the cheapest I found for that was $300.... $1100 vs $600 is too much to take...

Thanks I just checked. It was $819 round trip... with a 3 hour layover in Miami. Yuo'd think they would stop at MCO first??

My son and I are headed down in August for trip #2. We're very excited and hoping for some sort of discount! Free dining last year was fabulous.

the prices should drop a little as it gets closer. Right now for 2 adults it's $500 - i've never paid that much! And mind you, that's on a Tues & Thurs flight when they should be lower. I'll just keep watching for them to go down... popcorn::

Nope, it's exactly (okay rounded off) correct. The other poster's prices did not include tax - yours does.

Standard View Moderate = $149
Standare View Moderate with tax = $167.63

Less 30% Discount = $104.30 (no tax)
Less 30% Discount = $117.34 (with tax)

Less 40% Discount = $89.40 (no tax)
Less 40% Discount = $100.58 (with tax)

So, the difference in price between your discount and the other poster is about $15/night before tax or about $17/night after tax.

I just called my TA and got Continental from 8/14 - 8/24 at $852 ($284 pp RT) for the 3 of us!! From Newark!! You got a better deal than I did - congrats!!!:thumbsup2 - however, when I booked our trip the RT on Continental was $1,200 - so by not booking the flight when I did the trip ended up saving me $348 so YEA ME:cool1: I loves a bargain.

If I were you I would keep checking. Last year we flew for 138 RT per person through continental out of Newark. And we didn't book until the middle of June. If they give you a price adjustment you can always use it for another trip.

Oh, duh. Thank you for setting me straight. I wasn't even thinking about tax. I will say that extra 10% (from 30 to 40%) really makes a difference!! I have an easier time swallowing $100 versus almost $120!

Thanks!

Funny you should say that!! I was thinking that myself - I'm gonna book the flights today (as a just in case scenario) but ask my TA to keep a weather eye on the prices (I am, too). That way if I do get a price adjustment I can put it towards the flights out to the midwest I'm gonna be needing in the fall as we're going out there for a wedding.

Thanks! I'll keep checking.. I'd even drive to Barltimore airport since my parents live near there...

SW is having a good sale right now for August. Actually out of Dulles (near BWI) I could choose SW or Airtran and both are running at $168 rt. Still a little too high for us. We just bought our tickets for our early May trip and paid $109 rt from Dulles to MCO. Pretty good.

No problem! Unless someone says "with tax" or "before tax" we have to do the math ourselves to be certain. I've made the same mistake myself more than once.

It's just a case of making sure that we are - at the very least - comparing Oranges to Tangerines! ;)

And, unfortunately, you are right... even though the difference is closer to the $100 range, the extra 10% off on a Mod during Value Season saves about $100 on a six night stay - and that's pretty significant!

That's exactly how mine worked out for the POFC $89.40 before tax. When I heard all the hype I went back and checked. It got me nervous there for a moment.

:sad1: There is a website called kayak.com that checks all the airlines, then you can print the one you like best and then go book it yourself. Since I a want non-stop and do not want to fly the midnight express, the best deal I have found from DFW to MCO is on AA at $306 per person. :headache:

Just curious..... since you all are talking about flights.....
Do airlines typically adjust the price if you book now and then it goes down in price later?
Right now I can get $218 for RT in August, but I know I've seen it go down more during that time of year.
But.... who knows with the economy.... don't want to take the chance of it going up.
I could definitely live with $218 though.:thumbsup2

Just got off the phone with Disney and I was able to book the CS water view for 2 nights for $223 (includes tax) DW and I are so excited. We were going to stay at POP the last 2 nights to save money but now for just a few $$ more we can stay at what looks like an awsome resort.
Can't wait for DS to get home from school to tell him he will love the pool.

Our airfare from Chicago/O'Hare to MCO is ridiculous. I'll only fly American and the rest of the fam will only fly nonstop.

It's over $2100 for the four of us for our August trip (we have rigid dates because my sister has to move back to school the day after we come home and she starts classes the day after that), so we're thinking of flying into Tampa.

It's an hour and 15 minutes drive (per Mapquest) from TPA to the GF and we'd be saving over $1100 on airfare for similar flight times, same flight dates, than flying into MCO.

Just a tip :)

I booked in Jan for Aug 08 because everybody in my family (crazy Wall Street Journal readers!!) told me flights were going up. Booked through Expedia for $2200 for family of 5 and now it's down to 1800!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAARgh. I am frustrated, but, oh well....you gotta spend it sometime and I'm going to Disney Wrold
