I'm voting for David. The judges are right, he's the best in the last 4 years. This year I seem to have to hit the mute button alot more. And I think Simon is funnier than ever. His honesty is refreshing.
For some reason I usually don't catch the names during the auditions. I missed the first 15 minutes so I may have missed him, but which one was David?

David was the first contestant in New Orleans. He's also got my vote thus far.
He was very natural and showed that he can perform. I'm surprised he isn't already a pro. I hope it wasn't a fluke and he flubs in Hollywood.

Michael was also very good. I'm curious if he'll try to change his image. He would look great if he lost some weight. He has a gorgeous smile.

Another vote for David here. I always grit my teeth before people start singing. Yeah, some of them are that bad! :rotfl: David had me saying Wow!

Both sets of twins were about the same voice wise. The second set didn't have the look though. Why do people come dresses so shabby?

But the most entertaining guy was the one you couldn't understand. He was a riot and looks like late night material for Leno or Letterman. :teeth:

Don't forget, there's another episode on tonight!

Roberta

I thought the twins that sang Boys II Men were robbed!
They were both good and should have at least went onto the next round.

For (I think it was Gene) to say they sang a teeny bopper song is wrong....I think the "boys" were around 30ish when they had a hit with that song.

And also, why in one episode can Simon say no to the Triplets because they won't take Twins or Triplets and then in this episode take those other two twins?
They just seem to make up rules as they go along and that really bothers me.

I also thought the movie projection guy was hilarious!

david from new orleans is the one that simon thinks is fantastic.

i need to start writing the names down of the performers..........the bizarre ones last night were a hoot...........

rooting for michael........i am sure he will change his choice of songs when he gets further down the line. look at the 17 year old crooner that made it to the top ten last season.....the red haired guy.

okay, did anyone watch tonight?....i am now rooting for michael, the big guy whose parents met at a piano bar or whatever who sang that louie armstrong song. i thought he was good and always like when someone has a voice that totally does not match their appearance
He reminded me of Uncle Cracker....big guy, nice voice.

I liked the minister, but don't think he'll be able to pull it off. He might bring a Josh Gracin appeal though.

Didn't like the first set of twins, but liked the 2nd set.

THought the girl (2nd contestant?) was very good.

What I don't understand tho is why do twins audition together? To me that is just shooting yourself in the foot. It is an individual singing contest not a duet contest.
Like those second set of twins going on about different personalities and how they do things seperate. Then why not audition seperate. I bet they would have had a much better chance of getting in.

They said after the audition that they came to audition seperate and were put together by the producers because they are twins.
They said they didn't dress alike or anything because they didn't want to be put together.

I missed the first half hour, but did Gene Simmons say yes to ANYONE?

He seemed hung up on how the eperson sounded at that moment, and if it was not rock and roll/pop, he said no.

There's a lot of inconsistencies in the way they vote. What really bugs me if how weight matters for some and not for others, He told those triplets last week that they were too fat, but he never said a word to Ruben. Also, the girl last year from the Disney cruise ship was a little overweight, and even the girl that came in third after Clay and Ruben was a little heavy too. I understand that the winner is supposed to be an "idol", but to be honest, I never thought Ruben, Clay or Fantasia were the least bit attractive. Yet they are all can sing and all are successful. If you can sing, they should let you through.

I agree about the inconsistencies! How about Simon and the farm girl last week? He was all over her, praising her for her "country" sound, and they had not heard thet genre in the auditions up to that point, ect, ect. Could it be Simon, that we all remember how you used to just DRILL Josh Gracin because he sounded TOO country and this was not a country music show?? Yes, that was HIS sound....and guess what? He is making it as a country artist! I belt out his song every time I hear it on the radio.

I wish the judges would relaize only ONE person can win the competition, but so many doors open for the other contestants, so if they are GOOD, whether or not they are good enough for AI, they should give them a chance, because who knows what could happen for them!

Also, the american public might just surprise them. Lokk how far John Stevens made it last year? Who would of thunk it?

ITA with both you and Disney1Fan2002.....

It seems that Simon picks more on the woman because of weight then men.

They just make up rules as they go along it seems...whatever fits at that moment is what they go by.
That part is really starting to bother me...if they can sing, let them through!

Watching the previews for tonight one of the twins comes back and tries the audition on his own.

I saw that, I don't think that goes over too well with the judges, he probably won't make it through this time either....sigh.....I really liked both of them

Its a crying shame Leroy didn't make it thru. Hey dirty, baby I got your money. He reps the Dirty South. You gotta have Jesus, Can you dig it??

yes, gene simmons did. on two that he was very positive on, i was taken back. he was staring with a blank look on his face and i assumed he was going to do a thumbs down on them. when he spoke, he stated how impressed he was with them............go figure, what a poker face.....

While I do like having the guest judge there, it's throwing off the voting.

Take the last set of twins for instance: Randy said Yes, Paula said Yes, both Gene and Simon said No. If Gene hadn't been there, the twins would have been through to Hollywood.

I also thought they actually sounded very good for what they were singing.

On the whole problem of putting twins/triplets through: I think they should let them audition as a group, but also make them sing individually. Yes it is a solo singing competition, but part of singing is how well you can sing with your group/band/backup. BUT, if you're part of a group and you can't sing at all individually, you're just not going to make it.

The problem, IMHO, with the triplets was that they sounded "okay" as a group but I don't think any of them had the voice to carry it of as a solo. They should have had them sing separately just to see though.

Was it just me or was Leroy (the King of the Incomprehensibles) high as a kite?

The funniest moment for me last night was the fake subtitles after Leroy left the audition room claiming he was going to be Randy's scriptwriter.

Don't know if he was high or just certifiably crazy.

i figured he was acting his regular way.
in our local paper it had an article about AI this past weekend.
it stated that many non talented people enter in hopes of making a name for themselves.....remember william hong, i think i mispelled it, he sang she bang and has made some money off of it. he even has done some commercials.......

i was guessing leroy acted during his performance as he wanted to be remembered for "standing out" and maybe something would come his way.

if you notice, they put on some of the worse/ funny/ controversial people during the try outs we are watching now. of course they throw in some talented people that we can watch throughout the season.

it gets better ratings when the way out there people perform.

i am really into this show.................i think i could be a judge....lol
