Some thoughts on what I remember of tonight's show:
-I thought the triplets were ok, but not great. I think it was the way they were dressed that prompted the fat comments from Simon. They certainly weren't fat, but their dresses weren't at all flattering on them. I thought they could have toned down the makeup a little too.
-That Asia girl...I liked when she came in the room, that was original and fun to watch, but I thought she sounded like a munchkin or a chipmunk when she sang and I don't think she'll be around for long. Her mom could also
-Joe really just should have kept his mouth shut and he may have had a better fate. I didn't think his voice was bad at all, he just thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread and it was such a turnoff.
-The girl from the farm....Carrie?? ....I thought she was GREAT, and can't wait to see her again.
-Ozzie Smith's son was ok, but nothing spectacular.
-The two kids at the end.....oh geez what were they thinking? They were painful to watch, right along with the girl who sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow. :flower:

asia was a little 16 year old girl who burst into the audition room doing this michael jackson-y melodic rapping thing and she was so much fun. the judges said she sounded like a chipmunk when she sang (she DID have a high voice) but i thought she was a great performer and really enjoyed her voice. i don't even usually enjoy r&b/rap music, but she was great to watch.
Joe came with his entire family, who were all waving banners and signs for him. and he sang, and he was okay, but then he started yelling at simon when simon said he wasn't good enough, and they had quite an argument. i was very embarrassed for the guy....some people don't know when to quit.

Thanks for the synopsis. I do believe I saw Joe in the teaser just before I had to leave the house. These people should know better than to mess with Simon. Oh well, one less cocky performer in the world - no loss. :flower1:

i LOVED the triplets. they could sing and i thought they were beautiful....not FAT. how come simon never tells the guys that they are fat? i don't remember him ever being so blatant to reuben, and he weighed as much as almost all three of those girls. not fair...
ITA. I was a little annoyed with Simon and thought they should have at least let them sing separately. They had twins or triplets (can't remember which now) on another season and they let both (or all 3) sing and they put them all through. And Simon has got to lay off on the weight thing. That must be really good for young girls at home to see.

I liked the young teenage blonde girl from the farm that sang the country song. I think she sang well; and has the looks.

Was her name Carrie? I didn't pay attention to her name before she sang.
I agree. I thought she was the best one they have shown so far. I hope she makes it to the top 12.

I think that if Joe had kept his mouth shut, and not been so insistent, he might have made it. He didn't even let the judges speak. Simon asked for Randy's opinion and Randy said "yes". Then Joe opens his big mouth and asks Simon what he thinks. Uh, hello!! If you had let Paula speak, she might have said "Yes" and then you would be going to Hollywood. Now you're not.
I was thinking the same thing. He had an okay voice but he seemed cocky and had an attitude. I wouldn't have let him in either just because of that.

I had to watch Lost so I switched over the AI during the commercials. At the end, there were two young guys that seemed like good friends. One went in and they said no to him and the other guy was going in when I went back to Lost. Did the second guy make it?

No, thank God! They were both really terrible!

We watched again last night... even my DH watched! He normally hates shows like this but some of the singers had him laughing.

I loved the triplets! If they only want single singers why did they even let them try out?

Then it happened, at last a person who really seems to have talent. The farm girl! I never did see how old she was but she really has a lot going for her.

Everyone else that was on was too over the top or just plain bad. I really think the judges do well to control themselves. I'd be on the floor. As for the insults, well, they are looking for star quality. That was my one objection to the triplets. Why on earth would you dress like a 4 year old and expect people to take you seriously?

Can't wait until next week! :earseek:

AND then Toni Braxton's cousin---couldn't understand ANY thing he was saying, never mind singing. :rockband:

just think about that.......if that 18 year old cousin of toni braxton COULD sing, don't you think she would have linked him up with her connections.....

something to think about........
geez, he was awful........

I missed the show!! I couldn't miss Lost and I haven't had time to figure out how to record on my DVD/VCR yet, so I missed American Idol. Anything interesting happen?

That was EXACTLY my thought, before he even opened his mouth. "If he's Toni Braxton's cousin, what in the ham sandwhich is he doing on AI? He must be AWFUL."

I was right. :)

Some of these people are amazingly horrible. I loved the "best friends" guys who couldn't sing :)

She was excellent and certainly has the right look to make it well into the competition. I'm pulling for her.

As a baseball fan, I was very glad to see that Ozzie Smith's son could sing and that they weren't just letting him make a fool of himself. That would have been very embarrassing.

BTW, I have never watched AI before. I tuned in for the very first time on Tuesday night. These auditions are positively hysterical. I didn't know what I was missing!

My own little synopsis:

- The triplets weren't "fat", and Simon didn't say they were. They WERE "overweight", which is what he called them...or, at least, those dresses (with the rolls of skin hanging out of them) certainly made them look that way. They COULD sing, however, particularly the middle one.

- The "farm girl" was awesome...If she doesn't screw up she'll be in the finals for sure.

- I agree with what everyone said so far about Joe...If he'd kept his mouth shut, he'd have had a chance.

- The "music student" was just too cheesy...He had a good voice, so if he'd done what they told him to (sing "less affected"), he'd have made it.

- The geek twins at the end were pathetic....I'll never understand the drive some people seem to have to get on tv, even if it means making complete fools of themselves.

- Did anybody else get a little nauseous listening to Ozzie Smith's son talking about how he was there representing the underpriveleged of St. Louis ? I mean...his dad's a millionaire...just how underpriveledged could he be ? :rotfl:

Can't WAIT to see Gene Simmons as the guest judge next week....I imagine he'll have a thing or two to say to the idiots wasting their time :teeth:

Last night's episode was so funny. How about that girl who ate human flesh? Then Simon told her to meet the triplets so she could eat them because they were too fat.
I thought it was funny when after the girl who sang "Over the Rainbow"(which by the way is a really hard song to sing) Paula told her she should do voiceovers, like for a rat.
And those 2 friends, could they hear themselves sing???

A Hall of Fame shortstop for the St. Louis Cardinals.

okay, did anyone watch tonight?....i am now rooting for michael, the big guy whose parents met at a piano bar or whatever who sang that louie armstrong song. i thought he was good and always like when someone has a voice that totally does not match their appearance

I watched tonight. Wow, there are some really strange people out there. And Simon was even worse than usual.

I also thought that Michael was good. Don't know how he's going to fare with the different types of music, but I thought he was good.

I actually thought the twins that sang the Boyz II Men song were pretty good. I was surprised that they didn't let them go through to the next round.

I'm voting for David. The judges are right, he's the best in the last 4 years. This year I seem to have to hit the mute button alot more. And I think Simon is funnier than ever. His honesty is refreshing.
