Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Which Honey Stingers do you recommend? I saw a deal on them at runningwarehouse.com, but had never tried them before. I'm tempted to get the Cherry Cola ones, because they're caffeinated.

For the waffles I get either vanilla or strawberry. For the gummies I like Pink Lemonade, Orange Blossom, and Cherry Blossom.

I have one package of the limeade which is caffeinated, but I haven't tried them yet.

I've been using the Sport Beans and I really like them a lot! They taste pretty good to me (fruit punch flavour), they're easy to get down and they don't bug my stomach at all. Its hard to say how much energy they actually provide, but I do get excited when the time is coming up to eat one :hyper:

Haha! That's how I am with the Honey Stingers. It's like "Man! Short run today! No gummies!"

Them not upsetting my stomach is a big one for me. That's why I don't like the GU gels - they make me gag, I don't like the flavors, and they upset my stomach.

I get this sentiment! I love the flavor of the Clif margarita shot blocks. I could eat them like candy;) I look forward to them on my 6+ mile runs.

Wanted to report on the Huma Chia. I have used it on two long runs, 8 and 11 miles. The texture is weird if you are not used to chia... its seedy. I had the mango and the strawberry. The Strawberry was like just like eating preserves. :goodvibes Mango tasted good, too. If texture is an issue to you, you might not like them...BUT happy to report they fueled great and with ZERO gut issues. I bought a variety pack off amazon.

Thanks for the update! I've eaten chia "pudding" before and the texture is strange but for some reason it doesn't bother me like the texture of gels usually does. Something to look into! :)

No one has posted for awhile! How is everyone's training going?

I ran 10km last weekend, and it went pretty well! My body felt great, and my recovery was good too. I got a bit tired after about 8km, but it was pretty hot and I didn't have any water.

I was just thinking the same thing, awesome for you!!!! I know how you feel, last weekend was my 11 miles and i was sooooooo dreading it, but I started out at 6am and the weather was absolutely PERFECT, it could not have been any better, and I was able to do my run with my intervals and did it NON STOP!!!!!!!!!!! I was so proud of myself
My training is going well, I the diva half marathon in 11 days, I got all my longest runs in, last saturday was 11 miles, I did close to 11.5, this Saturday is 6 miles and the saturday before the race is just 2....
Once this 1.2 is over I will relax for the rest of October then restart my training for the PHM. :lovestruc:yay::woohoo:

Great work! What intervals do you typically run?

Good luck on your upcoming race, have you run and halfs before? The princess will be my first :scared1:

I love love love running intervals, I have only done 3 halves and never ran using intervals before, this year I decided to give it a try and I will never go back now.....you know why, because all the other races i have done, at some point I would stop a walk a little catch my breath and then run but once I made that first stop that was it, I knew my body and brain would make me stop more and walk or trot and then I mentally beat myself up for not running non stop, although I know that's not what its truly about, but my head couldn't wrap around that, kwim?
so I decided to try and train with intervals, I use 3:1 ratio, run 3 minutes and for the 1 minute i will trot, just slow enough to get my breathing at a calm pace, last weekend I was dreading my 11 miles but with the interval run I was able to go NONSTOP 11 miles.....and my pace and my timing stayed generally the same i finished in 1 hour and 44 mins.
This Diva 1/2 will be my 4th and the PHM will be my 5th half, i did the ToT 10 miler in 2012, and I needed to do this PHM, I wanted the full effect of Disney:cloud9:

don't be scared (easier said then done) but really you'll be at Disney, you will be with thousands of people that will have all the same emotions as you, you'll rock it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Lots of luck!

My training got derailed by an injury- I'm supposed to be running my first half marathon on 10/25 but now that's up in the air while I wait for answers from the doctors. Long story short- I was having a lot of calf pain while running and they think I might have torn my calf muscle. Got an ultrasound of it yesterday so now it's a waiting game! Trying to stay positive! If I can't do that half marathon I won't be able to get my proof of time in for the PHM but I would rather heal now than jeopardize my ability to run the princess half..

For various health reasons, I have had to start over from scratch a couple of times this year. I am now back at it again and I'm up to a mile. Hopefully I will be back up to a 10K soon enough to submit a time.

awwww man you guys are making me feel like a slacker!

I was supposed to run a 10K a couple of weeks ago but I'm so far behind in my training I bailed because I thought I would probably injure myself.

I'm slacking too. Just can't get motivated with all the driving I've been doing with various kid related things.
I will start next week. I just have to get through DS13's race this weekend

I got a new piercing last Thursday, so I've taken this week off of training for the Wicked 10K next month. I'm hoping to be healed up enough to get back to it on Monday. Training has been going well, much better than expected given that I have piriformis syndrome in my right hip/lower back, and I need new shoes somethin' fierce. The ones I have are pretty worn and I think I need more support. Depending on finances, I may go and get fitted for new kicks next week.
