Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

I had a ten minute drive home but took a shower as soon as I got home. It was a cool morning (~50 degrees) so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it...I carry emergen-c in my water bottle because I can't stomach gatorade on runs but I don't think I drank as much as usual...A couple of people have told me to try Nuun as an electrolyte supplement so I might switch to that before my next run and see if it works better than the emergen-c :)

I get chills, to the point where I'm running in 90 degree weather and have goosebumps after I get done :confused3
I drink Nuun after my runs and LOVE it. I do not do well with Powerade or Gatorade, my stomach just does not like it. And I also use Salt Sticks during my run. For nutrition on longer runs I have used Gu and Gu chomps and they are ok, I love honey stingers gel but they have been hard to find locally so I just got some Huma chia gel I will be trying out tomorrow. I will let you know what I think.

Hmm, chia gel sounds interesting! Definitely let me know how it is! I think I'm going to try switching to nuun and see if that helps. I ran 3.5 today and didn't have any issues afterwards so that was nice! :)

I have tried the mango flavor chia gel and the apple cinnamon flavor. I liked both and did well with them despite my really sensitive stomach. Be aware the flavors are strong.

Is it Cliff Shot gel that Disney uses at races? I've tried sports beans but they didn't sit well with me. Same with Gatorade and powerade. At least we still have lots of time to experiment. The chia gel sounds interesting.

We just booked our rooms and decided on POR! I also grabbed an ADR for BOG while we're there - I think we got lucky.

I've been away from running due to shin splints and a sinus infection/bronchitis but I'm starting back up tomorrow and I can't wait to get back at it!

Have a good week, princesses and princes!

Also having some sickness issues over here that are sidelining me - stuck with a stomach flu bug! Between that and vaca and some event commitments my longest run in the last 3 weeks was 4 miles, and 7 miles has been my longest. BUT I am also registered for the TOT 10 miler in one month! So hopefully this clears up and I can get back to work this weekend. I'd like to get up to 6, 7, 8 miles and one week off long runs before the race.

Ugh. That is the worst. I have been having some pretty severe muscle cramping and I haven't run in over 2 weeks. It is killing me!

Sorry to hear that! It always seems like when I don't run for even a week, I am starting back at square one! :upsidedow

DD finished her 10k over the weekend in 1:13. She came in near the bottom of the pack, 545 out of 558. USATF had their own tent there and 60% of the runners were associated with a running club/group. DH and I are very proud of her.:cheer2:

I know. I already had to start over after PHM because I got sick. I was almost up to a 10K again when this happened. Now I am supposed to do a 5K on Sunday, but I'm not sure if I can. :(

*ahem* Sorry...brief moment of self pity there!

1:13 is a great time and in races around here that would put her much closer to the middle of the pack (of 5000+ runners though!)

You're allowed to self-pity, it's okay! Are you able to walk for long distances? You can probably walk the race, then at least you don't "waste" the entrance fee.

I haven't tried walking a long distance yet. I have done...pretty much nothing for over 2 weeks now. I actually haven't registered yet, because I have had so much going on physically. I was going to wait until the last minute. It is just one I planned to do since last year.

For those who have done a runDisney event recently, how do you go about obtaining Dooney and Bourke handbags? Do they send you an email for preorder? Do they only offer them at the expo, first come, first serve? I would like to purchase one, if I like the design, when they become available.

We got an email that informed us we could preorder. I feel like it was perhaps a month or two before the race?

I'm not a purse girl so I don't have first hand knowledge how it worked at the expo for those who didn't preorder last year. I know there's an eBay market for these things, so I assume it's first come first serve. But I'm sure someone else has more details. If it's anything like the NB sneakers they'll go quick no doubt!

Thanks. I'm a Dooney girl. I like handbags over shoes.

Blabbermouth, I started reading your trip report. My DH has come to accept Disney geeks, me, take pictures of their food. I'm sure my DH rolled his eyes, when I first started taking pictures. It made me laugh.

Have you tried pickle juice? I have frequent cramping issues, but oddly enough, not when I run, and I did nine miles this weekend! I was thinking of trying this. :confused3

I'm all registered for the Virginia Beach Wicked 10K on October 25th! Hoping for a PR so I can submit time to runDisney for a better corral placement (I was in Corral G this year). I'm consistently running 5K at a 9:35 pace, so I'm pretty confident I can do the 10K in under an hour, which will hopefully score me Corral D or E. :cool1:

That would be awesome!! I'm hoping to hit under an hour in the 10K I'm doing in September too - let's keep our fingers crossed :)

Hey, does anyone know if the boat from Wilderness Lodge runs early on the morning of the half. My sister and parents are thinking of staying there and would like to come over to MK to watch us run through - just trying to figure out how to get them there without a car.....

Thanks for reading even though I abandoned it :( It's hard to get readers, and it's hard to keep it up when you're talking to yourself, haha.

Great work! Do you remember the race time you submitted for the 2014 race?
