Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

in the half, there are characters at least every mile or so after the first two miles. some miles have multiple characters, 3-4 at the most i think. although i feel like this past year they were lacking from the end of MK - mile 8.

in the 5k and 10k, there was little to no entertainment/characters before you got to epcot. i think there were one or two meetable characters on the 10k (not including elsa, standing above us all on an overpass), and one on the 5k, but that was it. the lack of spread on the characters meant for very long lines once they started showing up.

it could be a good way for you to do your intervals, but it depends on the line. i waited five minutes to see mary poppins/bert/penguin, and i know some others are just as long (the villains, royal mickey/minnie, cinderella/charming. my practice is to only take pictures with those i've not met in the parks, and all others i just pause and snap a photo :)

Thanks, What a great idea of only taking pics of Characters you do not normally see in the parks. I would have never thought of that.

When you do your intervals do you keep your eyes on your watch or do you use a something to keep track?
Thanks
I either use my Garmin when I'm not listening to music, or the iSmoothRun app on my iPhone when using music.

I use the Galloway GymBoss. It's easy to change my intervals on the fly if I want to switch things up midrun.

For all wondering about the price of the Glass Slipper Challenge for 2015.

I had to defer the race from 2014 to 2015. At the time of my deferral, they charged me $280 for the GSC.

I just got an email today that the actual price for the 2015 GSC will be $295.

Dear runDisney Guest,

You are receiving this email because you deferred your 2014 registration to the 2015 Glass Slipper Challenge. As stated in the deferral policy, if there is a registration fee differential between the deferral registration rate (from 2014) and the published 2015 rate, you will be charged the difference up to $20.00

This email is to let you know that the 2015 published price for the Glass Slipper Challenge is $295.00. Beginning Today, June 5, you will be charged an additional $15.00 as this is the difference between the published price of $295.00 and the $280.00 deferral rate you previously paid.

Yikes!! Thank you for posting this. Whew, that is expensive:eek:

Ouch! Thanks for the information. I can start setting that aside now, starting with the money I was going to use for the Nike SF.

Wow - that's a lot. I know I will do PHM
Again but is it worth all that additional $$ to wake up at 2:30? Those who did GSC last year, did you feel like you had a good visit to WDW or was everything race related. I'm only down Fri to Mon so I don't see enjoying myself that much if I'm sleeping early two nights and worn out. I like my fireworks and EMH :)

I'm more or less local and can visit WDW for non-race days often, so I may not be your target audience on this, but... I did all 3 races this year and the whole weekend was about racing. By design to start: I wanted to spend my time with my running group, going to race meet-ups and staying rested, so I never planned much park time in the first place. But also by need: I was exhausted after (really, during) the half and really couldn't muster the energy to do much more than sit in a chair at my resort and watch the world go by. Not trying to plug my blog, but I wrote about this years PHM weekend extensively, so it may be helpful. You can really see my downward spiral through each post, lol! It starts here and goes through 4 more posts.

I did all 3 races as well and traveled with my family. We did a lot of park time to keep the kids happy, but if we do it again with kids I will limit to maybe 2 park days instead of 4. We ended up not having enough time to enjoy the expo because we had a packed schedule. I was trying to keep the kids and DH happy since DH was reluctant to go at first, but even he agreed that since we do disney so often we could focus this one weekend on the racing aspect.

Hi everyone! So excited we booked our ressie for the BWI for the princess half. Whoop!
Any idea on reg fee yet?

Thanks! :-)

$295 is a bit of a sticker shock...and then if I had the 5K to that too! OH MY!

I guess I differ from previous responders. I loved doing GSC but I did not feel like it was the focus of our trip. I did GSC in 2014, up at 3 both mornings. I was also up at 4 for the 5k which I did not run, but escorted my dad to and spectated. We were supposed to have a longish trip, but due to a snowstorm canceling our original flight and not being able to get there until late Wednesday we had a shorter than expected trip. We did the parks everyday and did everything we wanted. Thursday we did MGM in the morning, lunch then I went to the expo with my husband and dad while my mom did a few rides with my kids at EPCOT. Friday after the 5k, we did Epcot then MK. After the 10k I went back to the hotel showered., returned to Epcot, enjoyed the morning there, and had lunch at Via Napoli. Then we went back to the hotel and swam for the afternoon. Sunday was the half. Everyone in my group (8 spectators) watched me run by BLT then met me at the finish. They all went directly to MK while I showered, then Met them at MK and enjoyed the morning, lunch and more rides at MK. Then we went back to swim. I took an hour long nap, then joined everyone at the pool before heading to CA grill for dinner. So the race w as great, but the rest of the non-runners in my group were totally able to enjoy their Disney time, and the races were just a small part of the fun. My favorite part was when everyone but my DD and I left MK Sunday afternoon (because they were tired from cheering for me at 6:30 am) to return to hotel for relaxing and swim while I (who was on 3 early mornings in row) and DD5 rode Goofy's Barnstormer after the half. They said they were too tired for one more ride;)

This year I'll be doing the 5k with my Dd now 6, plus the GSC. Can't wait!

My daughter is looking to run in 2015. She is a DVC member and was wondering if any date for early registration has been announced?

Hi I am new to the board. I am planning on running the Princess half marathon 2015 and want to get into the Glass Slipper Challenge. Anyone else getting nervous with how fast these races are filling up?

I have a question about proof of time. Does anyone know how close to the race does it have to be? Like if I ran a 10k this fall, but i decide to defer my GSV registration until 2016, would I still be able to use my fall of 2014 proof of time?

I checked the DVC member site, and nothing is officially up there yet. But last year (and every race I'm aware of) it was the same as annual pass holders. I checked the WDW passholder site and that says 12 noon on July 9, 2014.

I'm always nervous! I fret about it daily now;) I will be on the computer right at noon on the 9th for passholder/DVC registration. That said there's a few things you can do. Set up an active.com account with all your details (address, etc.) to save time typing. If you are registering multiple people try to get help from someone else. I've seen posts from people who had one issue or another and they got one person registered, but not the second before a race sold out. Or two people, but not 3. Also, the challenges usually sell out first. The usual advice is to Register for that before 10k, half, 5k or any kids races. Last year if memory serves me right the order for this race was GSC sold out 1st, then 10k, then the half, then the 5k.

Probably. These things change from time to time. But for the 2015 race the website currently says proof of time has to be after 2/1/2013. That's almost 2 years. But it could change so keep an eye on it. I am planning on using my qualifying 10k from last year for this year again. I am injured so I'm doubtful I'll he beating that time anytime soon. But I'll have to be sure that language doesn't change and my Nov. 2013 time still counts. Less than a month now to early registration!
