for those of you who don’t follow the mouse, sadly, MNSSHP has been officially cancelled for 2020.
HHN is a totally different animal, to paraphrase Mr Twain...the reports of it’s demise have been greatly exaggerated
Universal already has one-upped Disney by opening so much earlier than anyone expected. not that there is any, ahem, competition between the two big players in town
MNSSHP would not work at all with the parameters. There are too many large crowd things that people would get way too fussy about. People already mad about the masks so it would not work to have reserved seating for all the shows they have. It would be too much strain on CMs.
HHN can easily be reworked to run as normal. There is a way. MNSSHP being cancelled does not change the likelihood we've already seen.
On this race to reopen, I don't like to think it was a smart choice for either personally to reopen as soon as they did/are. Florida is looking pretty dire so unless this spike in cases disappears, that's where HHN might be in trouble.
Visually, Beetlejuice will be unmatched. I doubt it'll be very scary but I think we're gonna see some really amazing visual effects in that house. I've already heard rumors they are bringing back the vortex tunnel for it.
I've been holding out hope, but given the lack of announcements and the rise in COVID cases, I just don't think it's safe to hold the event this year in any form. Canceling would be the right thing to do. I mean, we're 2 months out at this month. Which is crazy is consider. And we've heard nothing.
That being said, I worry about the financial impact that has on Universal. It's their biggest moneymaker.
I wonder if in 2021 they could extend the event or even start it in the spring if there's a vaccine by then. I honestly think there's enough of an audience that it doesn't need to be around Halloween time to be a success.

We are driving to Orlando next Tuesday night. We are supposed to be at WDW on 7/12. I just reserved my dining this morning. 2 months is nothing in this new era. Everyone is going to have to be flexible and plan as best as they can. Everyone will also have to make they right choice for them and their family and allow others to do the same. Good luck. We won't be at HHN until Columbus Day weekend. We've got time. Anyway, I'm coming from one fire, Texas, to another
