Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

For Tink last year, stayed on Harbor and left the room by 4am which got me to the corrals by about 4:30am so I really could've left later. Everything is much closer than at WDW. In DL, you literally walk up to the drop off for runners, toilets are right there, corrals are right there. Also places in DTD were opening at 4am for breakfast on run days. Family reunion area and grandstands are much smaller than WDW.

If you're a fan of going the DIY route, I made some pockets to add to my leggings. I don't like running with anything around my waist, and I didn't want my phone stuck in my Roo Sport. I just took some old leggings I didn't wear anymore, sewed 3 sides, and then used stitch witchery to glue it to my running leggings. Worked like a charm for Princess and I was able to put it exactly where it worked for me.

omg, this is genius. :worship: I'm totally going to sew a phone-sized pocket into my leggings.

I'm looking at belts for the little things. I'm glad this was a discussion... love everyone's input about what they like/don't like to wear on them when they run and how/where they wear them.

DH was asking me about timing for the half marathon last night. I told him I don't really have any idea. Can anyone who has done races on both coasts give me an idea on how similar, or different it might be.

At WDW I have been starting usually in corral F with my current POT. Near the top of F, I guess and once in E. Do you find that they are similar in DL? Do they stagger the corrals in about the same way? My personal best half is 2:17, but my Disney halves are usually 2:45+

I'm figuring that with a 5:30 start I will be done by about 8:30.

I am really looking forward to doing a Disney race where I don't have to set my alarm at 2:30am. Even better since I am on the East Coast and will have the 3 hour time change on my side. :-)

Following. We have very similar times so I'm just going to glom onto your question and wait for the answers :)
It's a little difficult to make a direct comparison to WDW races, I think. Example: the corrals are different for Tink. This is last year's set-up (G larger corrals, unlike WDW half marathons that had up to P corrals of various sizes)...I assume it'll be the same for this year and that they'll start 8-10 minutes apart.

It's really hard to guess right now without knowing your corral, I think, but it seems like with your PoT you should (I think??) land in B, so I think 8:30 is a safe guess.

Just read on the May 2017 Disneyland thread that Indiana Jones ride will be down starting May 1 for refurb. I'm bummed. :( It'll still be a great trip, but I was really looking forward to riding that one while there.

Bummer! Indiana Jones is one of my favorite DL rides. But it does go down a lot, so maybe this refurb will help with that problem... Glad I'll be going back to DL over Labor Day weekend for the DL half, so hopefully will be able to catch IJ then.

Hello all! I ran the Princess Half and am really considering coming to Tinkerbell to earn my Coast to Coast....does anyone know when the last day to register is? I know Disney eventually pulls the bibs, but I can't remember how far in advance that happens. I still have to finalize some things before I know whether I'll be able to come or not and don't want to miss out on a bib. I noticed that one of the travel providers can't defer races after March 24th...so I'm wondering if that' the date? Along that though, I'm still hoping to get a 5k bib and am hoping that the travel agencies can sell any bibs they may have turned back to them? Any help anyone can give me would be great. Thanks!

I just signed up this afternoon! I know I'm not running Princess next year and decided that I did really want that pink coast to coast. I'm so excited!! I really wanted to do the challenge but unfortunately work really gets in the way of traveling on a weekday. Maybe in 2019 ;)

Does anyone know how corral assignment works if you sign up after the deadline to submit the time? I am not at all a fast runner but I have found the races where people are generally going at my pace to be much more enjoyable :)

Last year I remember them closing registration in...I want to say mid-April. But who knows what they will do this year! :)

I think they should corral you properly as long as you submitted a time when you registered, but it may be worth an email to runDisney to confirm! :)

When I've signed up after the deadline, the time you submit is the one they go with and they'll put you in the proper corral. Bring you POT with you and a copy of your registration in case they don't (which is unlikely).

I signed up late for the Star Wars Light Side 10K (about a month out) and submitted a proof of time. They put me in the last corral. I'm not fast, but run about a 12 minute mile. I had to get around a lot of walkers being in the last corral. Not to mention I had to make a last minute pit stop at the port a potties when the corral was released so I wasn't even at the front of the last corral! :)

I'm really hoping for better placement at the Tink Half!

There's a VIP package up now and a lunch and learn event. Both are $199 each.

Not really something I'm interested in, but in case anyone wants to check them out. They are listed under the races.

Interesting that rD is doing something like that.:scratchin I think I'll just do the usual of getting to the expo EARLY Thurs. a.m. with the rest of the early bird shoppers. But I'm also glad I've got some pre-order goodies coming. :woohoo:

Wondering the same too! Wasn't considering doing this at all, until I looked at my schedule for the next year and realised the only time where I might be able to do a runDisney run (which I've never done before) is this, and then realised that registration is still open!

But before I sign up I need to find out if I can get the time off work though...

(I also need to train up to a half! Right now my 10k is around 1:15 so I guess I could hopefully walk/run/walk and hopefully still make the half under 3:30 - but would be nice to get a better timing than that!)

Your 1:15 10K is about a 2:45-2:48 half marathon time. Follow the 2:45 pacer in your corral and you'll be fine. You can submit the 1:15 as a POT and be in that corral ;)
