Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Question of the Week: ADR day has come and gone, but Disneyland Resort is known for its great counter service options. What is/are your favorite counter service restaurant(s) at the Disneyland Resort? If you're a first-timer, what places do you plan on trying?

Disneyland: Plaza Inn (fried chicken) and Rancho Del Zocalo (multiple items for breakfast and lunch/dinner)
California Adventure: Flo's (French toast) and Corn Dog Castle (hot link mmmmmmmmm)
Downtown Disney: Earl of Sandwich

Every cart that sells churros, which is basically every 20 feet in DL. I wish they would send some of those carts to WDW!

The Cozy Cones have quickly won a place in our hearts... That bacon macaroni and cheese carb fest... Yum!

Honorable mention to the Kayla's Cakes stand in Downtown Disney...last weekend we saw they have cakes-in-jars and they are sooooo yummy.

It looks like I have a long list of things to try. I guess we haven't been that adventurous in the past because I haven't tried a lot of these.

Anything at Ghirardelli in DCA is always a good choice.

I keep seeing Jolly Holiday pop up here and I do love Mary Poppins. So I googled their menu and they have chocolate croissants and coffee stuff for breakfast? I assumed only starbucks had that kind of stuff. That may have Saturday morning written all over it! :)

Yes, croissant and coffee from Jolly Holiday is one of my fave breakfasts at DL.

I am obsessed with the Little Red Wagon corn dogs. Also have to get beignets and a churro.

(And in response to last week's question, the only reservation I made was for the WOC dessert party. I hate taking away from park time to eat :). But I did Blue Bayou a couple of years ago and it was worth it for the ambience alone.)

I phoned rD last week to ask about the chEAR squad.....reminding them we're less than 60 days out, they had no information about it at all. Very surprised by the answer. I just wonder if they will have any opportunities for spectators at all in the parks due to the new security bubble.

How so? What I mean is I'm not following how the expanded bubble would affect other changes directly.

The expanded bubble only added DTD, but the space between the parks was always a part of that. Yeah, in the parks is a different story compared to the esplanade, but it's still the same security to get inside as it was last year. Just a little larger. Procedure hasn't changed.

I'm just trying to figure out why nothing has been offered yet and I'm thinking of "any" reason for why nothing is offered yet.
Wasn't it at one of the recent races no spectators were allowed in DTD and the route was changed up a bit. I think it was the last TB 1/2. We didn't run through DTD like prior years.

Usually chEAR squad "offers/packages" are up by now. My chEAR squad wants and is willing to pay the $$$$$ to get into the park to cheer me on. So we're still waiting.

I thought it was unusual it wasn't up yet, but not having signed up for it before, I wasn't sure. I've never done a DL race and none of my family did chEAR squad at Princess, so I was kind of looking forward to trying it at Tink for my mom. She's traveling with me but not doing the races. I'm doing the 10K and Half.

Yeah, I look at the official page about twice a week now to see if anything is up for spectator viewing and it just keeps saying "coming soon." I'm glad we are doing a post-race character brunch in the park with my Mom and Sis so that even if some elaborate VIP chear snack table isn't offered, we will be able to still stuff our faces with breakfast food after. But it would be so cool if my sis could go into either park during the race just as a fun experience, so I'm still hoping for something? But if not, we'll come up with unofficial chearing spots but will be asking all you vets for ideal locations (once the course comes out of course!)

Spectators were able to access the esplanade and DTD last year for Tink.

And I know, just was trying to get clarification why an expanded security bubble with no procedure changes since last year would cause a delay. Just doesn't make logical sense to me how that could affect things.

My best guess would be that they're possibly making a change to them. Like how race registrations have gotten delayed for changes they weren't ready to push public yet.

Hopefully they go up soon for those that want them.

Hi all! I really wasn't going to do Tinkerbell but the idea of a pink coast to coast medal is really tempting...and flights are cheap and registration is still open, meaning it must be a sign. The Disney hotels are outrageous though. I was looking and it seems like the Best Western Plus Stovall's Inn is the closest to walk to the start/finish line. Has anyone stayed there? Was the walk okay after 13.1 miles? Also, how's the pool? I don't think I can swing the parks too so sitting by the pool would be the next best thing :)

We've stayed there MANY times for race trips. Very close to start and end of the race. They usually open up the breakfast from early for the runners so you can grab bagle, bananas, coffee etc to take across the street to the start. The pools were getting some TLC last time we stayed there. Nothing fancy since it's basically in the parking lot but they try making it nice. The coffee shop on the corner used to do pool and room deliveries. But ck with the front desk.
Hope this helps.

Hey all! I'm not running Tink this year, but I'm probably running the DL Half in September. I asked a question about over on that board but figured I'd come over here to see if y'all had some good advice :D I currently have both BW Anaheim Inn and BW Stovall's reserved for that race and I'm wondering which would be better for the race. I know both are within walking distances so either works for us! I stayed at the Courtyard on Harbor last year for Tink and we had to walk through the front bus area, through security, and through DTD to get to the corrals. Someone on the DL board said that staying at Stovall's I'd still have to walk around to Harbor and through security to get into the area for the corrals. Any advice would be apprciated :worship: Thanks!

I haven't looked through the messages so forgive me if it has been brought up. But with the move away for disneyland from mickey and the gang to pixar and the move away from the original trilogy to the new one for star wars, could we be seeing a theme change for tink.. could this be the last year for tink? Will they delay registration like they did for star wars?

I still see it being a female themed race, but i think the tink theme may be in danger.

Just read on the May 2017 Disneyland thread that Indiana Jones ride will be down starting May 1 for refurb. I'm bummed. :( It'll still be a great trip, but I was really looking forward to riding that one while there.

Unpopular opinion: I like, but do not love, IJ. Probably because I got stuck on it for like 45 minutes once. That was enough to make me want a break from it for awhile...:confused3

Bummer! I've been on it once before almost 15 years ago the only time I'd been to DL. I guess of all the rides to go down I'm ok with it (I have others I'm more excited about.) But bummer!

@pclvnmcky88 I haven't done a DL race but I think you can walk down the same street the corrals are on if you are coming from BW Stovall's (not walk all the way to Harbor.) I guess we won't really know until the event guide comes out, but that's how it was explained to me from people who ran last year back when I was picking my hotel out.

@Warm Hugs I actually like the Tink and Fairy and Peter Pan theme (that's one reason I'm so excited to run this one.) If they do change theme at all (or make it more generic) I hope they keep it a women/feminine type theme. Planning a Princess weekend in WDW felt a bit more intimidating to me than this seemingly more laidback west-coast weekend for a short girl-trip getaway.

DH was asking me about timing for the half marathon last night. I told him I don't really have any idea. Can anyone who has done races on both coasts give me an idea on how similar, or different it might be.

At WDW I have been starting usually in corral F with my current POT. Near the top of F, I guess and once in E. Do you find that they are similar in DL? Do they stagger the corrals in about the same way? My personal best half is 2:17, but my Disney halves are usually 2:45+

I'm figuring that with a 5:30 start I will be done by about 8:30.

I am really looking forward to doing a Disney race where I don't have to set my alarm at 2:30am. Even better since I am on the East Coast and will have the 3 hour time change on my side. :-)

Following. We have very similar times so I'm just going to glom onto your question and wait for the answers :)
