Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Just added the registration prices to the original post...interesting (maybe only to me) aside:

- the 5K registration fee went up by $5
- the 10K registration fee went up by $10
- the half marathon registration fee *decreased* by $14
- the Pixie Dust Challenge registration fee stayed the same

(using only tier 1 pricing from last year...they have done away with the tiers this year)
I wonder if I will get credit for the extra I paid last year, but I will not hold my breath for that either. I would love it if they brought back discounts for park tickets.

Interesting on the price decrease for the half marathon -- I wonder if this is due to the event not selling out this year.

Very happy to see that the cost went down, as this is the only event we're doing that weekend due to cost :P.

Thanks for the comparison, @Ariel484 :)

I know my boyfriend had to do the Disneyland half this weekend because he was told no more deferrals... And I'm out for the tinkerbell because I can't defer the princess and can no longer afford both due to stupid circumstances beyond my control :(
That stinks. I wish they'd do something for people who signed up for events before deferrals went away...and I wish they'd officially announce the change (which I know is WAY too much to hope for from them).

That's my guess. This one never sold out, they just stopped selling bibs for it. They did the same thing for Star Wars Dark Side, I think - either decreased the price or kept it the same (maybe decreased the half and kept the challenge the same can't quite remember).

I think the runDisney boom is slowing down, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm actually happy if the runDisney boom slows down. I still expect Dopey 2018 to be a mad rush for registration, but it's nice to know that I don't have to be at the keyboard and at the ready the moment the PDC goes on sale since we honestly don't know yet if we will run it.

I think they were bound to hit a price point where people wouldn't want to pay anymore - $200 for a half seems to be about that point!

Totally agree with you that Dopey 2018 will be insane.

I just finished the Dumbo Double Dare and flew back to the East coast. Received my C2C medal at Disneyland after running the Darkside earlier this year! Now I have my eyes set on a Princess or Tink medal. Since I missed the princess registration, reading your posts on here are tempting me to register for Tink!

I'm so excited. I've rented DVC points to stay at the Grand Californian for Sun-Thurs after the races. DH and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary in style!

Friday and Saturday are not available currently. I'm going to do a waitlist for those two nights with our points once we hit the 7 month mark, but I need to find an alternate hotel just in case. We are not going to have a car, so we need to find somewhere that won't be too bad to travel from when we move to GC. We will have our luggage in tow.

Definitely take a look at Paradise Pier!

You literally walk out the front entrance of the hotels and are at the corrals.

I'd love to stay there, but the standard rooms are all booked and I just can't swing the $457 a night for the preferred room rate for that weekend. That's crazy expensive!

This will be my first runDisney event. It's always been on my bucket list to participate in one, and I decided 2017 is my year! I'll be doing the Tinkerbell 10K! I appreciate any tips anyone can provide! I already read the FAQ thread which was SUPER helpful. I'm excited!

Yay! Welcome! :yay:

Oh - wait until RD releases their rate once registration opens. It's half that!

I'm planning to register for PDC during the AP/DVC window on Tuesday, but will that prevent me from taking advantage of this room deal? Do I need to wait and register for some kind of package from rD? I've got a refundable rate booked at a Courtyard on Harbor right now, but would love to stay on site.

First - use MMF for Marriott and I guarantee the Fairfield will be cheaper than the Courtyard, unless you're set on the "waterpark" at the Courtyard. Or you can use a vendor code I have that should put you at roughly ~$140/night.

But yes, the RD rate will be cheaper and is open to everyone! You can find it under Travel on the RunDisney site.

Also, as an aside ... your name really throws me. :confused3

I was actually planning to switch to a points reservation, but wanted to lock the room in just in case. We should have enough points in a couple of weeks, though. My husband travels a ton for work. This is great to know!

Ha! Yeah, it's an old moniker and mostly refers to other areas of the DIS (international parks & DVC). I'm super new to runDisney!

runDisney rate was surprisingly good for Tink last year...I'm used to WDW races where the runDisney package is pretty meaningless (in my opinion).
