Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

From this year, it seemed like runners who ran the tink and princess got both the normal and pink one by running just the two races. Based on this, yes.. You would get both coast to coast even if you did not run in January. Hopefully, someone can confirm they got both by running just tink and princess.

Thanks! I hope I get both but knowing my luck!

I think that I have my DH convinced to take me to DL in May. I'm already signed up for the GSC so I will be able to get my C2C. DH might run the 10K with me, if so I will be in for the challenge.

I'm celebrating my 45th birthday and our 25th wedding anniversary in 2017.

If we don't do May we might go in Sept instead, but I would really like the pink C2C medal.

Quick question... If I run the Disney half in January, princess half, and the tinkerbell half, do I get the normal c2c medal along with the pink? Or just one?

The wording makes it sounds like I can get both:

"The same race can be used for multiple challenges"

My cousin ran the GSC and Tink Half and got both blue and pink C2C medals. I ran Dopey, GSC and PDC and got pink and blue as well.

Of course, this was a change from last year. No clue if it's a one-time thing or a change going forward. I kinda wish they would've held off and given me the blue in September after the Disneyland Half but oh well. I'll just bring it with me in September for pictures after the half.

Wonderful!

Thanks guys!

actually, to be correct, There is only ONE coast-to-coast medal - that is the BLUE one. The remaining medals you think are C2C are actually Challenge medals - the Pink C2C looking medal, and the Kessel Run challenge medal. This is how it was explained to me by the Disney representatives. Basically, you can get a PINK medal for Tink/Princess and Kessel for Light/Dark Star Wars. AND, if you do one race of any type on left and right coasts then you get the C2C that we all know about. Yes, I know the PINK medal looks like the original C2C medal, but they are actually calling it the Challenge medal starting this year so you can now get both the Blue and Pink medals while only doing Pink/Princess. I know because it is the same for the Kessel challenge - people would get both the Kessel and C2C medals for only doing the Light side and Dark side races and nothing else. In previous years you'd have to do another race on one of the coasts - not this year.

Hello there

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels for the Tink races? Ive never been to Disneyland before so I have no idea what to expect. Im looking for something pretty inexpensive but somewhere where I can safely walk alone to the races in the mornings. Thank you!

So I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for Tink this year, which was fine. I'm planning on staying at Paradise Pier for 2017.

This map is pretty helpful - it has the 3 Disney hotels as well as the neighboring hotels. Hopefully it's not out-dated!

For 2016, the 5K started on Main Street in Disneyland Park. The 10K and half marathon started "on Disneyland Drive, adjacent to Magic Way" per the event guide (here is the Event Guide from this year) - so basically right in between the Disenyland Hotel and Grand Californian. One other thing to consider - you'll need to visit the expo at some point to get your race packet(s), and the expo is in the Disneyland Hotel.

Hopefully this helps you a bit!! I haven't stayed off-site at Disneyland yet so I can't comment on the specific off-site hotels. :)

Ariel484 has a great map of the neighboring hotels. You definitely will not be the only person on the street. I would say most of the people staying in the those hotels are walking in the morning.

We stayed at Paradise Pier this year for Tink and it was PERFECTION. You literally walk outside the hotel and are at bag-check for the corrals.

We could see corral D from our hotel room window, which was great to judge weather down in the corrals before we got there.

I loved it so much, I got my husband tipsy and convinced him that I needed to stay there again for DLH, regardless of cost. :rotfl2:

So not sure how Tink in 2017 will work out for us. My hubby may have limited vacation days left at that point to take. :(

I've never done a race without him, but I might have to contemplate a solo trip for this one. Nobody tell him I said that...:tiptoe:

How quickly has PDC sold out in the past? Do I need to be ready to pull the trigger on that one as soon as registrations open?

We were buying PDC bibs as late as early April for our girl trip through a TA. Disneyland races only require a one-day, one-park ticket unlike all the stuff WDW races require you to buy.

Not at all. The half never even sold out, they just stopped selling bibs in mid-April...and it was even an anniversary year for the half.

Yup - even for the 10K. So unheard of in recent RD years. That said, I loved that the field wasn't as crowded ... I think that definitely played a role in why it's one of my favorite RD weekends. Can't wait to do it again next year!

Paradise Pier sounds like a good option based on price alone. I dream of staying at the Grand Californian. A discount for runners sure would be nice.

Thank you SO MUCH! for this amazing map! You have been so helpful! I have ended up booking the BW Park Place Inn for now as we needed somewhere budget to stay as the flights from the UK are pretty pricey to LA. We don't mind if it is basic its just a place to go to sleep as I am sure I will be far too excited about actually being in LA and visiting Disneyland for the first time!! From past experience is there a way to cut through the pedestrian entrance to the race start or will I have to walk round the block to get to the race start? Good warm up I guess ;)

It definitely would be...but I'm not holding my breath for runner discounts anymore. They (Disney Parks) probably feel that they don't need to entice people to come to the race weekends with discounts (i.e. - January used to still be a slow season for WDW, so they actually had free entry to the parks on Monday for marathon finishers in 2012 - you won't see that anymore!).

Glad you found it helpful! :) I THINK you need to actually go through the pedestrian entrance and do something similar to bag check like when you enter the parks. Maybe someone else who has stayed at one of those hotels can chime in?

To add to what I said before, the TA bibs will likely still be available closer to the event, and they don't have as many requirements as WDW TAs have. I think I bought my 10K bib for 2016 in March or something and just had to buy a 1-day park ticket as part of that purchase. So I could see PDC bibs being available from TAs later as well.

Pretty certain I am going to shoot for the Coast to Coast (you can do that right after the Dark side half?) and sign up for the Tink. It's right around my DDs birthday and what a better way to celebrate than going to DL?

Mark your calendars. It's almost time to throw on our fairy wings and register!

Passholder / DVC registration is September 13. General registration is September 20.

Pricelist is up (on RunDisney site):
  • Tinker Bell Half Marathon $185
  • Pixie Dust Challenge $330
  • Tinker Bell 10K $120
  • Never Land 5K $80
  • runDisney Kids Races $20

First post, long time lurker! :) Got a question that I haven't seen...doing my first rundisney race, the Tinker Bell 10k next year! Sooo excited! Now, question about street closures for Sunday morning of the half. I'm going to have to fly out on Sunday (boo Monday work!) and I'm concerned about road closures on Harbour early Sunday morning. Looking at the past info books and street closures, this is something that will affect me, right? Like I probably shouldn't be booking a flight out early Sunday morning because I'll have trouble getting a taxi or Uber etc to come pick me up? I'm planning on staying at Best Western Park Place Inn. I should be checking out flights a little later in the day, right, when the road there reopens? It's sort of hard to tell from the street closures maps, but def knew you all experienced runners and travelers would know! Thanks in advance for cluing me in!
