Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Thanks all!! I'm pretty stoked that I got to the 10k point! Earlier this year when I got fitted for shoes I sort of gasped/teared up/choked on my words when I even SAID the words "maybe a 10k in the future" (and didn't even really believe it when I said it). Never would I have imagined that I could do this. I am soooooooo excited for May! I have to give everyone a huge thank you just for posting and the tips and encouragement to each other! Its amazing to read of people who are way faster and more pro at this and it is so reassuring to read about us beginning folks. Great community!!!!

Ok, time to bring "our thread" up to the front again! :) Newbie runner this year, typical mom of 40 years who wanted to challenge myself this year, and started running! That was a huge feat in itself to keep going, going, going. I am not at all athletic! Well, with the thoughts in my head the big challenge I worked through one of the 10k plans to prove to myself I really could run the whole 6.2 miles as practice before the big one in May. Oh my gosh, what if I got there in May and I just couldn't do it?!?! Guess what?!?!? Yesterday was that day! I did it! Didn't feel too bad while doing it! And I had a pretty decent day feeling pretty good afterwards. Now, just maintain and keep running through the winter and I can't wait to start this training program all over again in just a couple of months! Yeah!!!!

Congrats on your run !!!!

Hey everyone!

I just signed up for the 1/2! I am a male running alone and from the sounds of it I will be outnumbered but it will be fun all the same! I did my first ever race this month (Wine and Dine 10k & 1/2!) and this race just happened to be on whilst on vacation in DL! :fish:

See you there! :tiptoe:

Welcome!! :yay:

Just got a "Welcome Runners!" email and practically jumped out of my chair!

Quick notes...
- They're still using the same art as before (see below)
- On-site room rates are still crazy high when booking through runDisney
- There's a list of sponsors, of course
- There's a "checklist" for all you list markers out there!

As you prepare for race day, we've put together a few items to keep in mind so all you need to think about on race day is, well, the race.

I got so excited!!!!...even though it's not new info. for me...so exciting to see an email! And I still like that artwork (knowing race shirts can end up being anything.)
I will say that I like that I can go into my active.com account and see that they've updated my proof of time to reflect my new one I submitted this month. That makes me feel more comfortable and less worrisome over it.

Still waiting for any cheer squad info. :confused3

LOL. I also got all excited when I saw it. At first I thought it might be about marathon weekend and maybe early release of corrals or something, but then I saw that it was about Tinkerbell and I got all excited again that I'm finally going to run a race at Disneyland. WOOHOO!!!

I got the same email and was excited just like everyone else. Even tho this is my first rundisney race, maybe its all this info and this board, but I found the info not valuable. And I kinda giggled at reserve your dining. Ummm, this is not Florida. :) So should the concept art being the same as last year be something to wonder about? Or is it normal for this email to not contain any hints at a new theme? We are a ways out yet.

i got an email for me and DS at my email address -- nothing for DH though at our family email address -- so odd!
maybe b/c he is only doing the 5K and I am doing all 3 races and DS is on my registration?

No email either......and I've confirmed my e/m address with them a few times. But for those who did get it....THANK YOU for sharing with the rest of us. :):flower:

Hi everyone! I just signed up for the Tinkerbell 1/2!! I'm very excited. Single mom coming by myself. I was just in Vegas earlier this month for the Rock n' Roll series runs. I did the 5K and 10K. I was doing good going to the gym the first 6 months of the year then went on Vacation and just got "busy" :( so I went into those with basically no traning the few months prior. I drank a lot because it was my first trip to Vegas lol When I say a lot, I normally might have a drink once every month or two. But so I had "steady" drinks. And I made through just fine. VERY sore at the end lol But I mainly walked it cause I wanted to finish and I ran the 5K the day before. It was my very first 10K. I came home and Signed up for Tink 1/2 lol I've been at the gym 5 days a week since! I can use my 10K time from vegas but it wasn't very good 1:29:40 So The only timed 10K I could find before valentines day near me is January 1st! lol I'll be spending near year trying for better time! Ordered a new pair of running shoes on cyber Monday too. Anywho. I'll also becoming by myself on my very first trip to disneyland! We usually go to Disney World. Its closer. Any tips on best places to eat? I feel very out of my element. I'm like "i can't book dining yet?" lol. I've still got our disney cruise to pay off by july so I'm trying to do it cheap but see the absolute don't wanna misses. I booked my room though the disney land site. I did the clarion good neighbor because it was the cheapest. Doing one day in each park. Anyone dressing up for the race?
