Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Right now I'm planning on early as possible flights for both days. The flight there is glorious with gaining time, the flight back SUCKS!!

Personally, I found that at Disneyland it was SO hard to stay off of my feet leading up to races. Especially because my first DL trip was a race trip, so I wanted to see it all. But being able to walk to the parks from the hotels, and being able to park hop so easily (mind still blown by that), meant that I was on my feet a TON! I'll probably do the same in May, if I'm being totally honest with myself.

Haha! Honestly, I'd rather lose the time at the end of a race weekend. Stacking it at the beginning kills me especially since (as I discovered painfully during Dopey) that the time I have to wake up in Florida is the time I'm usually just going to bed in California. I'd rather be three hours ahead with my sleep cycle during a race weekend.

I do so miss the ease of DLR when I'm at WDW. I'm so spoiled by it especially with legacy FP.

The Princess half medals were released today and they changed the design of the half from the previous years. So this is just me pledging to myself that I am going to stop envisioning myself crossing the finish and getting the Tink medal as it has looked for awhile now...just in case it ends up being a total redesign as well.

That being said...do y'all think they will do a total redesign on Tink this year or do you think it'll look the same?

Honestly, I think Tink is perfect. The half at least. I'll take a redesign of the PDC. Something not so huge. But I'm not sure I'd be expecting a change to the half. I'm definitely shocked they changed the half for Princess. However, they've already gone full color with it. They do usually seem to change at least something and I'm not sure where they'd go from here without a total redesign. But as long as it always emphasizes wings, I should be happy.

Maybe they can put her in a different situation? She could be near the Disneyland castle doing her fairy pose? Or an even scarier thought: just a big Tink head winking.

Oh good heaven I would scream.

How about instead of a spinner, they'll add hinges to the wings and the medal will now flap ?

Flights booked! Now I wait a million years to book restaurant. And I guess I have to actually start training in January. There's that too.

Main Street Electric Parade was announced as coming back to Disneyland while we are there. Sounds like Paint the Night is going to be in a refurb during Jan-Jun. So I'm happy about the one thing and sad about the other. Now I can go watch the youtubes of PTN since I was trying to avoid them

GAH, I'm so glad you posted this!! Just booked my flights too...F-R-E-E thanks to Southwest points, and not bad times, either!

I'm so glad I set a reminder in my phone. I needed it today when I was half asleep. F-R-E-E here as well. We had points just for this reason. Ended up getting nonstop to SNA on Friday and a 1-stop on way home which ended up not being too bad.

Oh wow. I have virtually no non-stop options anymore from my airport - just United and they screwed me last year (had a non-stop flight booked, they changed it to one with a connector and then THAT was delayed*) so I didn't want to use them again. But free flights and free checked bags? No complaints here.

The best I've found with tickets is a way to, say, buy 3 days and get the 4th free, or buy 4 and get the 5th free.

*I did end up with a travel voucher that paid for my Princess flights, so I guess I can't really complain that much.

I really do hope that isn't the medal. But you never know - some medals have been amazing this year and others have been very disappointing.

Yeah, PTN desperately needs refurb. I'm kind of shocked seeing it running for the holiday season right now. Fairly sure they only bandaged it best they could at this point, but from everything I've been hearing, it needs a major downtime for a proper refurb.

I'm way beyond excited about MSEP. The fact that it's coming truly back home (and not just to run in DCA, but Disneyland Park where it began) has me giddy. Everytime I hear the music from it that's incorporated into PTN, I tear up because some of my happiest memories are watching MSEP with my mom on my first trip to Disneyland when I was 11 (back when it was leaving in 1996).

I still have an old VHS tape I bought that Disney filmed of the parade, haha! I used to watch that video so much after we got home.

I have similar memories from when I was a kiddo (but I think it was Spectromagic at WDW at the time.) We were upstairs at the Columbia Harbor House and heard the music and saw it out the window and I was eating hush puppies at the time. Weird how that sticks with me. #sappy #nostalgic

Anyone ever use Uber from John Wayne airport to Disney area hotels? How long does it take roughly? I'd be taking one with my sis around 11:30am-ish on a Friday. Although I'm tempted to just uber right to the expo (we only are bringing carry-ons) and then walking to the hotel with our loot...hmmmmm

I did this year - it took me 12 minutes from the time my car got me to when it dropped me off at Paradise Pier.
