Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I don't know about the ChEAR Squad but I wouldn't expect to see the Dooney pre-order (assuming they have it) until spring.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember ChEAR being offered at Tink this year, just DLH. And for DLH, they altered it significantly,

The items above that are listed as sold out - will there be more made available to purchase at a later date? Maybe at the Health Expo?

I am new to this board- just signed up for my first Disney race and found this site from a Google search. Lots of information here....my head is spinning!

Oh, that would be so sad! Drat! Well, I will make a home-made chear squad shirt and buy some dollar store clappers for my sis at the very least! I'm guessing then they still had places for spectators to cheer and watch the finishers, but would that mean not in the park?
My family were cheerers during the marathon and half, but not official chear squad ones last year at WDW and it was fine.
They probably should remove the section about chear squad from the Tink spectator page though.

Welcome! There will be lots of merchandise at the Expo. The items listed were just for pre-order when registration opened. For example, I ordered a pin and a jacket, so I will pick it up when I get there. BUT I have no idea what it will look like until I get there. At the Expo there will be shirts and jackets and all sorts of other things to buy. I believe based on answers in this thread, there will/could be pins available that are different from the pre-order ones as well.

There will be more spectator info in the event guide, but I watched the half from Downtown Disney and eventually moved closer to the Disneyland Hotel,
So I was closer to the finish line.

There is different stuff at the Expo in the official store, including additional pins usually - headbands, jackets, shirts, glasses. There usually are "I Did It - X Distance" tees, I've seen pins that look like the medals...I've even seen previous banners/decorations for sale. ;)

Seriously - I have like four sets of ChEAR Squad stuff from Marathon Weekend that are just sitting in a closet. PM me and I can send you a shirt and clappers if you want them ... and the blanket too.

Here's the Event Guide from this year
- I was wrong, they DID sell ChEAR Packages for Tink. The viewing area was in DCA though, and there was special bleacher seating. There is PLENTY of non-ChEAR bleacher seating at the finish line.

I've been stalking the rundisney site to see when Chear Squad would finally open for registration for my sister and I noticed in the commemorative section:
  • Runner Bundle - SOLD OUT
    • Tervis® Tumbler and Weekend Race Ornament
  • Pixie Dust Challenge Pin Bundle - SOLD OUT
    • Challenge Pin, Half Marathon Pin & 10K Pin
  • Pixie Dust Challenge Pin - SOLD OUT
  • Tinker Bell Half Marathon Pin - SOLD OUT
  • Tinker Bell Half Marathon Necklace - SOLD OUT
  • Tinker Bell 10K Pin - SOLD OUT
  • Tinker Bell 5K Pin - SOLD OUT
  • runDisney Kids Races Ear Hat - SOLD OUT
  • Commemorative Jacket - SOLD OUT
No Chear Squad yet. No Dooneys that I can see. Just thought I would share. Anyone have experience with it taking this long before Chear Squad is offered?

I'm surprised that the merchandise is sold out. Glad I pre-ordered my stuff when I did.

I have a couple of questions...

1. Is anyone flying out from Orlando area? If so, have you booked your flights yet? I just looked and right now flights on Kayak are about $230/person for Tuesday-Sunday. I'm trying to figure out if I should book now or if people think it'll go any lower? I've heard general travel advice that about 6 weeks out is typically the cheapest time to book, but not sure I want to risk waiting that long.

2. Does anyone have advice on things to do near Disneyland? As I said, we are from Orlando and DH isn't a huge Disney person, so I want to plan some other things to do/see that aren't Disney or other theme parks. Suggestions for any type of activity would be great, though we do love breweries/wineries if anyone knows of some not too far away.

TIA!

I will definitely keep that in mind if the Chear squad sign up does not work out. Thank you for offering! If they do offer a good looking package this time (even if watching inside DCA instead of DL) I think I'll still get it for my sister for Christmas. She is the type who would enjoy going into a park even if just for a little bit.

@RunBakeLove I am a newbie to running at DL so I can't answer your second question. But I have been stalking Southwest Airlines for when they will release May flights. So far they are up to 4/24, so I continue to check each morning. I'll post here when I see their calendar extend out. Not sure if Southwest is an option for you.

Some breweries to consider visiting:

The Bruery (this is a big boy - sours and they're hard to come by in many places outside of California)
Bottle Logic
Noble Ale Works
Legends Brewing
Golden Road Brewing

i find it odd that none of the running events are sold out but yet all the commemorative items are
2017 will be my 3rd year running PDC and I can't remember if in the past the items did sell out before races....
guessed i missed out on the Pixie Dust Challenge Pin Bundle, I didn't get it with registration like I usually do hoping to add it later -- oh well!

Yeah, if I was rundisney I would say to myself...I bet we have time to order more pins made. But maybe they don't like our money?

OK, since this is my first go at a Coast to Coast, I'm going to be lazy and ask here instead of searching for the answer. :) How do you go about getting the coast to coast? I don't remember seeing that asked on the registration, so how does Disney know I'm qualifying for C2C so I get my additional medal?

For Southwest Airline Flight stalkers (if there are any like me.) Today they opened up flights through 5/8/17. And then they have this note:

We are currently accepting air reservations through May 8, 2017. On December 6, 2016 we will open our schedule for sale through June 2, 2017. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.
