Official 2017 D23 Expo Thread

The fandom stuff is all just so over the top now. And if someone is under 30, or looks it, I don't think it's weird to wear that stuff. At my age and my build, it's a little strange without the confidence behind it. I'd love some sort of subtle separate with the haunted mansion wallpaper on it that isn't too dressy. For now I guess I'll just stick with the overpriced socks!
I work as a childrens librarian so I get away with it fairly easily but I still wish it was more subtle. It doesnt have to be in a precious color and retro and literal images from rides...

At my age and my build, a Scottish Kilt works best with the overpriced socks! pirate:

I don't think Disney has quite figured out how to tap the popular market as far as clothing. In my lifetime I've seen it go from really blatant over-the-top bright designs, busy designs, etc. to what they think is super edgy clothing. You know they're struggling, or there wouldn't be such a booming market on places like at etsy, independent business clothing designers, and chain stores like Target, Hot Topic, Torrid, and others that sell Disney licensed clothing. All that, and Disney hasn't even figured out how to create quality clothing. The one hoodie I ordered from them was shipped from Zappo's, which was unexpected. I have to agree with the previous poster and say that the stuff in the parks and the stores just seems very cheaply made.

Oh well, it's clear they're trying. Maybe they'll get there soon. It's probably impossible to conduct, but I would love to see a study between what younger Disney fans prefer from clothing and what some of the older generations might prefer. If you follow the room decor boards seems like there's a great variance there, and I have to think some of it is just what people are used to. On Instagram, Reddit, and other social media the small business/independent printed stuff is really popular.

So far I've shopped at the Imagineering store, got wristbands and music for the giacchino and Moana voice meet and greets. Went to the SW Imagineering pavilion. Ate. Walked around and am now in line for animation.

sounds pretty good - I heard the cut the line for Animation - how long were you in line for? I feel like if I was at a D23 I'd be so stressed I'd not get in to a panel that I would feel the need to line up super early and then not get to much else

1245ish. There is still a tiny bit of space. Lots of misinformation.

We lined up later than we wanted but are fine.

We're with a whole bunch of people who were on our abd trip. Friendships for life people.

Pete Werner says the Mickey ride at GMR will be Mickey taking you through Disney animated movies. He sounded very confident in saying this as if he saw something during his backstage magic tour at WDI this past week.
If that's true that might be close to what I suggested I'd like to see take over the Great Movie Ride (In that huge thread - it's posted somewhere in the first few pages I think) - one that would take you through scenes from the animated movies that are under represented throughout the parks.

What I posted before:
Whether classics or not, I'd love to see them do something similar with the movies that don't get much RIDE love in the park.
Imagine riding through the wedding/transformation scene from Princess and the Frog, a scene with Rapunzel's hair draped all over the room and glowing while she sings, an expansive scene from Mulan like near the end when the Emperor is giving Mulan his crest and the Red Square bows to her, Pinocchio's puppet show, Lion King where they raise the baby above the crowd from Pride Rock, Cinderella transforming into her ball gown, "Friend Like Me" scene from Aladdin... So so so many awesome scenes they could do from movies that don't really need a FULL ride at the park.
