Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

Actually, this has kind of been bugging me. I have heard people saying this race costs more than others. It could certainly just be because it is a 2016 race and the prices are going up. But a part of me wonders if there will, in fact, be some sort of after party, something special on the course, or other events added later. I can't imagine them giving us anything free though, when they would have used that to advertise but my TOT and W&D cost less and came with open parks until 3 and 4am!

Yeah W&D was fast. Like 25-30 minutes fast but there's only a 5k and half and the field is smaller.

The inaugural Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon sold out pretty fast too. Challenge sold out in under an hour I think. All the races were sold out in less than 2 hours. Avengers 2014 also sold out in 2 hours (but there was no 10k and no challenge) and this year Avengers isn't selling out fast (most likely due to the bad winds last year and market saturation on the west coast).

During my snafu, I ended up being transferred to a manager who worked with group marketing/disney for active. He told me active was told there would be 20,000 slots. He even told me how many of those were for early registration, and he was reading this all back to me, so it seemed legitimate. Interested to see when the corrals and bibs go live.

I just checked my half marathon confirmation for marathon weekend and with fees and everything it was still $186. Sigh. Maybe they are just putting prices on par with the west coast now.

Usually, it is about 2, maybe 3 weeks out we get our waivers which include our bib number at the bottom. Look here - usually someone has posted the link when they go live before RD even sends the email. Once you have your bib number you can compare to corrals from the previous year to have an idea of where you will be placed. Corrals themselves will come out closer to the race and then you will know for sure. So, probably 2 or 3 weeks before you will have an idea, though it could be anytime between a month and a week before the race. It makes it all feel real

For this race since it is new...I would maybe use 2015 corrals from marathon weekend half or W&D half. The princess half has a heavy field of female runners so it won't be very accurate, and I am not sure if the corrals differ much between Cali and FL.

They do not usually post corrals for the 5k, but you will still see a bib number. I have not done a 10k distance at disney so I am not sure there. Someone else may have a better idea.

Dh wanted to do the challenge, but couldn't register until now due to a meeting, so he's doing the half instead. I'm just excited for a weekend at Disney!

Well that sucked!!! Couldn't get the page to load at all (just blank page) until 11:07. Challenge already showed on hold. Kept trying back to get it, and now the 10k is sold out (which I was going to register DD for) with no warning email. You know, as many events as Disney does, you'd think they wouldn't have some stupid issue with every single inaugural event (and keep using the "we didn't expect" excuse).

Yes, on the main RunDisney page it does, but if you select the Challenge that takes you to the active page to select it, it says SOLD OUT.

Same here re Acclaim. I booked last week during early registration so maybe the challenge spot I had requested will be available to someone else.

Didn't realize they sold out so quickly when I went to register early yesterday as a DVC member and AP holder (live and learn) so logged on right at noon today. Big questions for all you pros: what's the jacket like, what are the kids Mickey ears like and what are the extra shirts you can buy like? Oh...and other than the running shoes, what items are available at the Expo? This is going to kill my budget isn't it LOL! Any photos will be appreciated. Sooo excited!

Those of us that bought the kids races during early registration, were we given an option of dates (Fri/Sat)? I can only do Saturday because we won't be arriving until Friday afternoon/evening.
