Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I have a confession to make. I am a huge Disney Dooney fan and I signed up for my first run (Princess 10K 2015) because I really wanted a bag (or three, haha). It was honestly the main motivating factor for me starting to run. I know it's a bit crazy. :-)

Last year there was no preorder for the Dooneys. We flew in on Thursday morning, but not early enough to get to the opening of the expo. Lucky for me I found someone in a Facebook group who was able to pick up a bag for me.

This year, I added a day to our trip so that I will be able to be at the expo right at opening. I was hoping that there would be a preorder, but if not at least I could go wait in the crazy lines. Now that the marathon Dooneys are having issues, I'm wondering if we are even going to get a pattern.

The good news for me is that now I'm running obsessed, so the bag isn't my only motivation. Lol!
I am in a very similar situation that you were in last year. We are coming in Thirsday but our flights were changed to come in at noon instead of 10am. If they don't pre-order, I don't know what I am going to do!!!

Has anyone tried the sparkle skirts with compression shorts? I have regular swing style would like to try the Hiker length.
But the compression shorts lookinteresting. If I don't have to wear another layer it would be great. I usually wear 2XU short unde.r

Kelly, I haven't worn Sparkle, but I've worn skirtsports and Target brand where the shorts are connected, and there's really no difference between wearing a connected skirts and shorts vs separates. Except that if the fit is off with one of the separates, at least the other part is OK. But if you get the fit wrong with connected skirts/shorts, you're in trouble LOL.

9.5 miles this morning on the treadmill! Too cold in WI for me to run outside. Miles 6-8.5 were rough, but I pulled it out in the end. 12.9 average pace! Getting more nervous as I add the miles on. This will be my first 1/2 marathon & I don't like running!

I'm not getting there until Friday! But I'm not interested in the Dooney bags so hopefully the stuff I do want will still be there. Of course it would help to know which vendors will be there so I can plan ahead!

I guess they did a pre-order for the bags for Marathon weekend and those bags will now not be available until the end of March.

I just got my first sparkle skirt and I kind of wish I had known about the compression shorts because I would have bought that style instead. The regular shorts didn't chafe but I also used a bunch of Body Glide because I was worried they would. I actually wish the seams were on the outside of the shorts because if anything will bother me, it is likely to be the tiniest of threads!

Well hopefully they will follow suit for PHM. What is it that you are looking to get?

My DH and I are going to do it together http://www.runtheyear2016.com/
I'm doing it! There are a few different groups/organizations to sign up through though.
Here is the Facebook page and main website of the one I'm doing it through with several friends:

Thanks!! I appreciate the leads!! My DH looked at me like I needed to be admitted to a psych hospital when I told him my goal for the year! Now I just have to prove him wrong!!!

sorry if this has been asked to death but my 7 month old just will not let mommy search for an answer...have bib numbers been released yet? I can't remember when that happens. Hope everyone is having a wonderful new year so far!!!

Went to Fleet Feet running store today, about an hour away from me, and got fitted for new running shoes! I ended up with the first pair I tried on, (after I tried on and ran in 5 pairs!), Brooks Transcend 3's. They are a brand new model, the store just got them in yesterday. They have "guide rails" (I think that's what they are called) and it's like they were made for my exact ankle problem! I'm wearing them around the house, without my brace, and it's like I never had any ankle problems. They are very cushiony, without being mushy, if that makes sense. And a 8mm heal drop, same as my previous shoes so that's fantastic. Not a color I would have ever picked (Smurfs??) but it's the only color the store had. Plus they were super expensive (to me anyway, $170) but DH made me get them so I could stop having all the pain. I love how they feel on my feet and how they feel when I run, if not the color.

LOVE!!!! Good choice!!! :) Brooks are kind of magical!! I have the limited edition Boston Marathon pair. LOVE them. Happy Running!!!

@Dis5150 I love them! But then I'm obsessed with teal, sooo... haha. What type of ankle problems do you have, if you don't mind me asking? I just looked up those shoes briefly and saw they help with over-pronation, is that correct? You'll have to let us know how they feel after a few runs!

This will be the link to find bib numbers in advance - lately it's just been working via mobile device:

Should I be worried it doesn't find my name??

Update: ok so if you can't tell I am paranoid about getting all the way over there and then either losing my PoT or my registration entirely! On second, freak out, inspection, it has t been updated to this year. So.....yah! I look like a dork!!

I have been having severe pain in my right peroneal tendon. I bought a brace that keeps my ankle stable (the kind that laces up then has Velcro straps that wrap around) and it has helped a lot but it's a pain to always be wearing it. I'm pretty sure all my problems stemmed from my Nike Free 5.0's. I love them but they provide zero ankle support (think slightly stiffer than a sock). The guy helping me at the running store said I supinate when I walk and overpronate when I run and that that's very unusual lol. That's why he picked these shoes first. The Guide Rails in the shoe provide support both ways. Technically they are a neutral shoe with added support lol. I will def report back after I run in them.

I LOVE Brooks! That's all I wear!
