Official 2016 5th Anniversary Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I was thinking about the course now that the back area of Disneyland has been closed off for the construction. I wish they'd release the map already so I can plan my approach to refueling and pacing.

(Nevermind that I have like 5 big races between now and then, but this race is the one that I'm most looking forward to... until Avengers)

So Disney may have started something up on FB by apparently booting Rudy out of announcing duty for Tink.

I don't mind them changing up announcers for new material. But Rudy is my fav and the one I associate with Disney out of the three announcers (heck I didn't know about John until Dopey). If Rudys is not doing the announcing there better be a damn good reason other then 'all female announcers' (especially with one of them being Carissa, I don't hate her style I just prefer the other two)

With the way runDisney is doing things now, I wouldn't expect to see the course until the event guide is released.

That's what they did for the marathon this year. And they haven't released courses for Dark Side, or even the prices (and possible new event(s)) for Wine & Dine. They are slacking lately. :rolleyes2

I saw that about Rudy. I am NOT a fan of Carissa...I find her to be pretty grating. :confused3

Carisa and John work best honestly work best because they play so well off of Rudy. Rudy can run the show by himself rather well (which I've seen him do before at a local So Cal race though admittedly less of a show then the Disney races). But I honestly can't imagine of 2 odd hours on and off of just Carissa.

Maybe if they bring someone else in it will be okay. But I'm not hopeful right now.

Is John the guy that does the djing in the staging area? I've noticed that guy has been hoping over to the finish line a lot more in the past year or so.

How can I even LIKE Carissa??? a) girl ALWAYS leaves me to tell me much faster and more important people are finishing before I am even able to START. and B) I have to see her on the Tragical Express... she does not bring me warm fuzzies.

(sarcasm...but really she isnt around during happy moments)

I cannot believe this is coming up so fast! I even have Dark Side first but I am so excited for this race and Disneyland!! (I also have a suspicion that Dark Side is going to have a weird unorganized feel not that W&D last year was much better.)

I'm so excited for my west coast races this year!!!

@Ariel484.......oh my goodness, so sorry that you got hit with the injury bug. Really admire your wit and perseverance to work on overcoming this setback.
You've always been a great inspiration and cheerleader to all of us and hopefully you know we are rooting for you to come back better than ever.

Sounds like it is going well so far and great that you already have some RunDisney events back on your schedule. Wouldn't want you to waste that premier pass thingy that you got before Dumbo.

In other news.....My wife really likes your inkburn (is that what it's called) items and now wants to get some, so THANKS for that! :thumbsup2

Hey, thanks @Slogger! That is so nice of you to say! :)

I'm definitely doing a lot better...I got very lucky, I think, with getting a quick diagnosis and a doctor that knew exactly what to tell me to do to self-treat. After some googling, around about my injury, it sounds like not everyone is as lucky! :(

Ah, the premier pass! It's funny, by the time it expires I will have only used it at Disneyland! Still worth the money though, since I got it before the INSANE price increase...I'll miss the 20% discount at Disneyland when it expires.

INKnBURN! They make men's stuff too, you know...;) You're welcome! :teeth:

About the announcers, I honestly don't know much about them. Do they do both the DL and WDW races or is it specific based on region?

As far as I can remember, they do both. I could be wrong though, since I don't pay much attention. :)

Just read about the Rudy situation. Apparently he was let go for the Tink race weekend because they wanted to keep it female oriented and because he is male that doesn't help. That would be like getting rid of the female announcers for Star Wars weekend or something.

Haven't studied the economics of the premier pass but might consider it for 2018 as we hope to do Dopey (can we all just sign up now already?) and Wine and Dine. Not sure if two visits justify the cost. Does it help with the cruise ship too?

InknBurn.....Dooney & Bourke.....Sparkleskirts.......you know everytime you promote these items my wife disappears with the credit card.

Forgot to thank you for the MacKenizie exercises......started doing them 2 x a day and they are helping my grumpy back. Or is it my calf? Or hamstring?
Or my posterior? I don't even know because at this point they all hurt. :crutches:

Okay...so when I bought the Premier Pass, I had 3 Disneyland trips and 1 WDW trip planned. And the pass cost $1,000, so it was a no-brainer. Even with canceling my WDW trip (which was for Princess Half weekend), it's still worth it for the 3 Disneyland trips. And you get some dining discounts and 20% off of merchandise at Disneyland (10% off at WDW). Every time I pay for something at Disneyland, I just ask if they take AP discounts. It worked at Starbucks (the ones in the parks), for runDisney merchandise, etc...it didn't work everywhere though (Napa Rose and the Downtown Disney Starbucks, for example).

However, the price recently skyrocketed to $1,400. If it had cost that much when I went to buy originally, it wouldn't have made sense financially. As far as I can tell, there's no price break for renewing like there is with regular WDW Annual Passes, so once it expires in September, I won't be renewing. I have 3 WDW trips and 1 Disneyland trip planned after then, and I think it'll make more sense to buy a WDW AP and a separate park hopper for the Disneyland trip. I'll REALLY miss the 20% discount at Disneyland.

It doesn't help for cruising as far as I know. I'm far from a DCL expert but I think the only way to save money on cruising (besides booking last-minute guaranteed rates) is to book your next cruise onboard/through a TA (for onboard credits) and get the Gold/Platinum discount off of merchandise (and I haven't cruised enough for that yet).

YAY!! They have definitely helped me out a LOT. It's funny too, because it doesn't really seem like you're doing much when you're actually performing the exercises...but to me they are GOLD. :)

I figured my fellow runners would understand my excitement....My new favorite shoe is Asics GT2000 3. Of course they are on the 4th version by now so I thought I was out of luck as running warehouse was out of my size. Until I found the 3's in my size on amazon this weekend! And for around $70! Can't beat that! Even though I don't need them right now, I ordered a pair and put them away!
