"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

I am planning on dressing up as Princess Leia, however I am starting to wonder if my original plan to wear a top that looks like the top of her dress with shorts will look strange. Any thoughts? Should I try to wear the long maxi skirt along with the top and belt for the full effect and just deal with the warm temperatures? Or should I just rock out the shorts? Or should I try to wear a tutu ?? Any suggestions??

I don't know why but I am so loving the tutu idea like the marathon runners do it. I am excited I will get to work on mine tonight. Also, I just saw this pic of some princess leia buns. Here is the link which has a bunch of head gear for easy costumes. http://www.coupons.com/thegoodstuff/30-halloween-headpieces-for-quick-and-easy-costumes/

Does Disney give out trick or treat bags? Or do we bring our own?

You can bring your own, but they give you a smallish one with your wristband, it is about an 8x10 gift bag size and plastic. Pretty sturdy and holds more than you think. Remember, you have to get all that candy home in your luggage and it can be heavy and take up a lot of space.

That is awesome! I'd never thought of doing that. Hmmm.

ETA: I haven't dedicated as much time to really learning how to use my camera as I intended when I bought it. Do you mind asking your husband what lens and settings he used to get this shot for me?

Most of the pictures in my Flickr album that I posted a page or so back were taken with my Canon Rebel SL1 with a 50mm 1.8 lens. It is a great lens for low light and not too expensive, but it has very narrow angle so it is difficult when you are too close.

Hi, I'm Missy's husband Franklin. The camera used for our Eva and Wall-E Disney bound is a Nikon D600 with a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens. The lens with its wide aperture really hepls with low light shots. This was shot at f/1.4, 1/60th second, ISO 1600, no flash. If you have time, you could take a few test shots, then lock it in manual mode before handing it to the Photopass photographer. Set Photopass spots like that, the lighting won't change, which is good while using manual mode. Auto mode can be fooled in low light situations. There is a lot of black sky and dark background that the auto mode will tend to over expose. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi. We are attending our 1st party this year. We are surprising our kids with the trip and party...they are going to freak out! They LOVE Halloween and talk about going to MNSSHP all the time! We will be attending 10/20 and I'm seriously debating adding another party during our trip.

I cant seem to find information if the characters sign. Specifically Jack & Sally, Cruella & Cpt. Jack Sparrow.

Sorry if this has been covered - with 121 pages it's hard to go back and find things. LOL

How crowded are the gates at 4pm for a Friday(10/16) party? Part of our group will already be in the park(APs) but we are trying to figure out what time the others should be down to catch the bus from the Boardwalk. We have a FP from 3:30p-4:30p so trying to make sure they get in before the FP expires. Thanks

Thank you so much! Those shots were so good that I'm willing to practice between now and October 15 when we leave for Orlando. There is nothing more frustrating than those cruddy Photopass night shots!

We have priorities of Hallowishes, the Hocus Pocus show (my all time fav Halloween movie EVER) and the 2nd parade (viewing in Frontierland). Given that, do you recommend the 9:20 HP Castle Show? What time should I try to get a spot for that one? Someone said if you do the 10:40 show you won't have time to get to FL for the 11:15 parade. I know there's a midnight show, but if something happens (rain, crowds, etc) and I miss seeing the show, I'll be super bummed.

I almost got the red shirt as well, but I neither shirt would work, the shirts were cut to be 'sexy' Starfleet and besides being too small the ensign was poorly placed for a girl.

Sent it back but kept the TARDIS hat, LOL I'll be wearing that this winter.
I was almost a tardis too! Ended uo as girl Darth Vader :)

I've got a couple questions.....

have they done better at crowd control and getting non party people out? The first time we went it was one of the first years they did the parties earlier in September and it was crazy busy crowd wise. But the last time we went (4 years ago) it was a little better. I'm just wondering if it is still better or if it is crazy with the magic bands.

This is the first year that I'm going to have enough days on our tickets to be in a park during the day. We are also hopping so I figured we'd hop over to MK earlier than the 4 pm early entry time to avoid those crowds. What do we do to get our party wrist band? Do they do them in the park someplace or do we have to go back to the front? Has it changed with Magic Bands? I'm assuming we still have the party bands too.

I'm getting so excited and now that my DD knows we are going (it was kind of her birthday present), I can discuss with her and it has really bumped up that excitement even more.

There are a few stations to scan your magic band or ticket to get your wrist band for the party.

I cant seem to find information if the characters sign. Specifically Jack & Sally, Cruella & Cpt. Jack Sparrow.

Jack and Sally do not sign, but you will get a trading card with their signatures on it and some graphics for the party. This is mostly to keep the line going smoother, because they could both physically sign. I believe Cruella & Capt Jack both sign. In general, think about the character's costume, do they have hands? or is it impossible to see what they would be signing.? For most characters it is about the physical inability to either hold a pen or see. You will see the dawgs (Pluto and Goofy) holding the autograph books on their noses so they can see! :)

2014 MNSSHP Characters

Last year Jack & Sally did not sign, Jack Sparrow did. I assume they'll be the same this year.

Cruella remains to be seen as she hasn't done traditional M&Gs for as long as I've been attending (since 2009).

As far as I know, no one signs at MNSSHP. Jack and Sally have had cards in the past.

ETA:Just saw the link above. I've never seen any character sign anything at the party, but that may just be because people are in a rush to get moving. Lol

I wonder if Jack and Sally will sign this year. They were in training for the Halloween party at AofA at the end of August and signing then.
