"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

I agree DS(13 at the time did) Tonto last year. To make to paint look cracked I mixed flour into the make-up.Then sprayed him with setting spray.
He got a lot of attention from CM and from random strangers. But trying to get it off, he was in tears.
I was practically in tears I was so tired and I'm an adult. Though I guess i should have expected it to take as long to take off as it did to put on. The attention did make up for it though...and accidentally scaring a cm when i walked into a store....Enough so I'm gonna do it again!

Graftobain setting spray let mine stay on for 10 hours, but its a pain to get off and I'm not sure a kid could handle how long and how hard it would be to remove it.

What was your application process? Which one goes in which order? Paint > Setting spray > Sunscreen?

I’m having a sunscreen issue. If I put it on first, it’s too slick for the makeup to stick, even after letting it set for a few minutes. If the sunscreen goes on last, it’d smear the makeup. I’m using Neutrogena Ultra Sheer liquid sunscreen. Need advice

I did not use sunscreen i don't beleive you can with face paint.
I did base paint let dry, main coat let dry, translucent powder, and then the setting spray and let that dry. The makeup i used was mehron aq paradise and is activated by water so it can only be removed via liquid soap that I found and if it gets wet it leaves your skin tinted that color since it reactivates it. It acted more as a dye then a cake makeup.
You can't put the facepaints on anything wet or it wont stick, my guess would be sun screen it up way earlier then you plan to do makeup so its completely dry then do the make up process.
The one i used the paint stayed on my hands and face even when i spent 30 mins holding onto a pole on the bus standing with my hands sweating, only thing i had issues with was condensation from soda.

I have been through most of the thread, and I might have a stupid question. We will be at DW for 7 days and are planning on 2 MNSSHP. Will 2 nights replace a regular MK day? We are not big on meeting characters, we will mainly go for the rides and will catch a parade and fireworks if it works out. What do you think?

Yes. This is how we do it to minimize cost. We do 2 MNSSHP and use one for riding rides and the other for parade/fireworks/trick or treating. Like you, we don't mess with Meet and Greets and this plan has worked perfect for us.

Keep checking on it. Many people book until they decide if it's worth it. I expect a lot of cancelations once people really look into it.

Smitch being that you have been to so many parties... in your opinion do you think it's worth it? I thought it would be nice to not have to struggle to find a good spot for the parade and fireworks (especially since we have a 2 year old), but my husband thinks its eating up valuable party time and would prefer not to do it. What are your thoughts?

Personally, I would pay for a second party before paying for this event. We prefer the parade in Frontierland, but we also do the second parade always. The first parade time is prime time for shorter character lines and ride lines. With the hub expansion, there are now many more areas to see the fireworks. I wouldn't pay for this event, personally, but that's just my opinion. Since I have never had a problem seeing the parade or the fireworks, I would essentially be paying for the snacks, and even if they were each $5 regularly (which they are not), I would have to eat 14 of them to justify the cost. I can't do that, nor would I want to. I do love chocolate mousse, but I'll be feasting on popcorn in Frontierland after Hallowishes, waiting for the Headless Horseman to be awesomesauce. Lol

I was just able to book the Hallowishes Dessert Party for Oct 4th, only 15 minutes on the phone which I thought was good LOL, as the CM was going thru the information he did point out to me that the cancellation policy is 5 days in advance unlike some other types of reservations, so anyone looking on sold out nights might want to keep that in mind as they keep searching.

Wow, you made a big commitment for that costume. It really is NOT easy being green!

Smitch, speaking of experts, how do you prioritize which characters to line up for? I know my first M&G would be the 7 dwarfs but after that, should I go for other popular characters like the Pooh gang and the Princesses? Or should I go see the low-priority characters like Lotso and save the popular characters until the parade/later in the night?

We love meeting the Pooh characters in their Halloween costumes and highly recommend them because they are adorable! We meet them after the second parade and never wait more than 10-15 minutes.

Jack and Sally are the other most popular characters to plan around, if you want to meet them. In our experience (5 parties over the past 2 years), most of the other characters have very reasonable lines all night.

Just bought our tickets for the party on the 20th! This will be my first WDW party (I've been to MHP at DLR), and DB's first party ever! Now to decide what to wear.

Where do the Winnie the Pooh characters typically meet? I know my son would love to meet them!

Thank you, bc7ate9! Thankfully, Jack and Sally are not high on my list even though I like the movie. I hope to meet all others characters with special Halloween costumes so Winnie and his friends are a must! They look so adorable

I believe they will be in their usual spot next to the Winnie the Pooh ride in Fantasyland

MNSSHP First timers! (also a first trip for one of our Moonies!) We've snagged tickets for the 31st of October and are really excited. Costumes are almost ready! Going to have; Queen Elinor, Kristoff, Tinkerbell, a Jedi, Mad Hatter, and an Edna Mode in our group :)

Edna Mode sound like so much fun! We are going on the 31st, will keep a eye out for you.

My son was in Shrek the Musical this summer as Young Shrek and The Dwarf. He is still green! MAC donated all the make up. They went through 5 pounds of make up every night. Mac Pro cream was used that's activated with water. This git it off his face, but his hair was permanently stained. Ended up going to a the MAC store at the Florida Mall and they recommended this.20150802_142824.jpg

I'd do 7D, and meet the princesses during the 1st parade.

My priority for characters is determined like this...
First, we figure out which characters go along with our costume theme, and then any extras we wish to meet. Once we have that list, we meet any of regular daytime characters on the list entering right at 4:00. We will grab food around 5:15, so that we can line up for one of the headliners (J&S, 7D, CJS) no later than 6:00. Since we usually wear hot costumes, we try to do as many indoor greets and attractions (like Laugh Floor) until the sun goes down. Most of the Fantasyland characters have very little wait during the first parade and later in the night. We met Donald and Goofy and WtP with 10 and 15 minute waits. This photo was taken last year at 11:50pm. We had been up since 6am. I think my kids are part robot. :rotfl2:

That was our 2nd party of the trip, which was really only supposed to be for riding rides, but we found such low waits that we met a few characters (also met the Old Hag with about a 5 minute wait)

Normally, I know exactly who we want to see right away, but this year has me a bit stumped. While our costumes are Disney, they are so unique that I'm not sure who our best options are. I know we will ride CoP as soon as we get there because it is typically closed during MNSSHP. We will also need to take daytime and nighttime photos with the CoP gears, and other Tomorrowland areas. Pics with Walt's statue must happen. We got a really great one at the end of the night last year, so I'm looking forward to that. My thinking right now is that we will meet characters that have rides in the park, with the exception of 7D. My wigged head won't be able to handle the heat of that line. :scared:

If anyone has any character suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them. :goodvibes
