Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

So I'm not as high tecky tecky as you lol! My 5k bib number is 41,576 - any idea which corral I'll be in?

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

I'm 41573.

Best I've found is that the 5k corrals are broken up around the 2k number mark.

Take the 4 off your number and that will probably be your bib.

2 plus number is Dumbo
3 plus number is 10k
4 plus number is 5k

Again, this is just guesstimating after a Google image search and talks with a run company for a local race weekend I'm organizing.

Yep, this is how they normally do their bibs at runDisney races. Each race in a different 10s place, if that makes sense.

And half marathon bibs start at 1 and go to 12000ish.

I have a 40### bib for the 5K but I'm going to do that one with my BFFs, and one of them has a 42### number...so I'll be dropping back for that one.

You're good, girl. I've just seen Running Skirts at lots of expos in the past and looked into buying them before, so I'm somewhat familiar with them. They do their sizing sort of oddly, in my opinion (Size 1, Size 2, Size 3). Of course, I've never actually WORN one of their skirts so who knows, maybe they're awesome.

The funny thing is, what kept me from buying skirts from Running Skirt in the past was the price (and not being able to figure out the sizing)...and now I'm addicted to SparkleSkirts and INKnBURN, two running brands that are NOT cheap. How things change...

Man, I want to buy a SparkleSkirt, and I'm on ALL the FB groups, even for customs ... but I'm just not comfortable with patterns. Weird, I know.

I almost bought Snow Peacock and then it was gone in my size.

Still thinking about the Grotto skirt maybe for Princess, but also, I'm a little flustered about what size and style is what and what might be best for me.

I'll be Orlando starting in October, so I think I'll go to "Sparkle Mecca" and shop there so I can try things on and see what works best for me.

I'm so high maintenance. But I still really wanted a Snow Peacock. I'm dumb. :(

I've started getting more into the solid-colored skirts myself.

I had that PeacockSnow at one point...it was just very *flat* to me in person, if that makes sense. I thought it looked a lot different from what I saw in pictures. (I actually had Grotto too and sold that one...sort of regretting it now but whatever.)

The ladies that work at SparkleSkirts originally helped me over email when I wasn't sure what size to order. That was way back in 2011 when they didn't have as big a following, but I'm sure they'd be happy to help you. I mostly go for swing style skirts and the vented slims. I don't think the slim cuts would be good for me as I have a butt :( but I feel like they look great on others. And then the hikers are like the swing skirts but they are 2 inches longer.

ETA: Somehow missed that you might go to SSHQ - That would be awesome! I was really looking forward to trying on a slim cut skirt at the DL Half expo but obviously they won't be there...so that's out. Oh well.

I have a butt too, but the tennis skirts I like the best right now are pretty slim in the cut of the skirt. I'm not sure I like the "fly-away" aspect of skirts on long runs, but - in retrospect - it's hot as balls out here and it's made me become really comfortable with my body.

I'm never going to be the fab gal running in a sports bra and hot pants, but now? If I wear a short skirt or a flouncy skirt blows up to show my hot pants/shorty compression shorts, I'm not embarrassed.

This running thing has given me super self-confidence, y'all.

Like crazy self-confidence. It's the best feeling in the world.

I have become completely addicted to Sparkle Skirts! I did not think I would like them, but bought one a couple of months ago just to see what the fuss was all about. I refuse to run in anything else anymore until the weather gets too cold. :) They are seriously that awesome! I own 4 and am in 2 groups for customs. I want more! They are also really awesome for the Parks.

I buy the Hiker Chic ones since they give me more coverage. I have lost 100 pounds and have loose skin on my thighs, so the extra 2 inches makes me feel better. :)

Running Skirts is a third brand.

Saw the add for Running Skirts on the Princess FB page checked them out ordered one (Athletic with compression shorts). Received it love it! Ordered my second skirt(Ultra Swift) after 2 test runs of the Athletic. The Ultra is a lighter material love it too! Leaving room in my suit case to bring home a couple more. Thumbs up from me!
I emailed them to help me with sizing they were awesome! Got the perfect fit!

Running Skirts has been around for awhile. I think they're a separate thing.

I had no idea. Duh, google woman. LOL. Now I will check them out. But I've never noticed them at the expos before? Have they gotten a booth before? They appear to have taken up Sparkle Skirts exact location, but smaller. Sparkle usually gets the size of about two blocks.

I have 3 so far: Keep Up, Comics, and Woman of Steel. I'm really bummed that Sparkle Skirts won't be there. I've lost some weight and was looking forward to trying on the smaller size to see if it's comfortable. My old skirts still fit, but I can feel that they are looser. And although they SAID they were going to have DLH skirts on the website, they have yet to post them and we are only a month away now. I'm really souring on them and am thinking of trying smoothing new.

But I do love the feel of their skirts. And the shorts DO NOT MOVE. It's amazing.

And what are these custom groups that you speak of!!!

Ok so I got bored and decided to add the numbers up for how many people are in each corral for the half... Here's what I came up with

Elite - 35
A - 1766
B - 1800
C - 2000
D - 2900
E - 3550
F - 2900
G - 3246

Surprisingly, less people in F than E. And it looks like E has the most people and not the last corral in G. Although time wise the biggest jump is between C and D, the number difference is only 900. So I can see why there is not another corral between those two.

I ran today! Woohoo! :yay:

I did 3 miles...mile 1 was run 1:00/walk 1:00 intervals. Mile 2 was run 1:15/walk 1:00 intervals, and mile 3 was run 1:30/walk 1:00 intervals. My overall pace was about 1:00-1:30/mile slower than what I'm used to, but I was just so happy to run again with no pain! Though I felt like I lost ALL of the muscle in my legs.

My throat got super sore last night and I felt sort of achey and had chills, so I didn't go to yoga like I'd been planning. Throat is still very dry today but better...my body is not cooperating lately. :confused3

I'm thinking I'll run again tomorrow (2/1 or 1:30/1 intervals the whole way, haven't decided yet), yoga on Sunday and then back to my regular schedule on Monday. I'm looking forward to feeling like myself again, for sure. :goodvibes

Great to hear you're on the mend Ariel :goodvibes

I guess we'll be in the same corral then lol! :cool1: So that means I'll be in A??? We're using that one as a chance to goof off and get pictures, so if we can start in A, it will be great news for character lines etc.

Me too! I still wear the longer shorts purely for comfort as I have thunder thighs that rub together when I run and the chaffing gets pretty bad with nothing between them. But I'm quite happy now going out in public in my running tights with nothing over the top. I just wear sparkle skirts for events. They're not available over here, so even when I wear them at events I get a whole heap of stares and extra attention (in a good way though). I'm not quite comfortable enough to draw that sort of attention to myself just out on the trail :rotfl2:

Dazzle is one of the new ones (mine is due to be delivered today).

I was souring on them earlier this year...they've gotten super popular recently and have definitely been having some growing pains. I do feel like they over-promise when it comes to new releases sometimes.

Are your skirts loose in the waist or the legs? If in the waist I would think putting in a drawstring should help...if in the legs I've been told that's when you need to think about sizing down.

The group customs I'm in are through Facebook. If you search "Custom SS" they should pop up. Basically it's fabric someone has found that isn't stock skirt fabric, and if you get enough people to commit you get group pricing (about $5 more than a stock skirt). I think SS has closed the queue to new groups though, and some of them that are in the queue are a year+ out (see mention of growing pains above).

I wear fleece-lined leggings under my skirts in the winter. :)

F is smaller because of its location (same deal with D). If you look at the corral map you'll see D and F are not open ended with E and G starting right behind them. They have to have a smaller amount because their is only so much room in the corrals. Where as E and G could go for a distance from their corral start.

Though honestly they never seem to give enough room for the corrals in the back. But that might be just the fact that a lot of people show up to the corrals late.

Good to know. There probably is never enough room in the back because there are always people who move back to run with family and friends.

That would explain it. Though its probably not helped by a few hundred people showing up at the last minute trying to get into their corrals and causing a runner traffic jam.

Side note I had my last long run before Reykjavik and possibly the DDD today. A whopping 20 miles, on the threadmill. Which led to the hilarity/annoyance of someone thinking the activity is fake. Just because I have this strange ability to tune out my surrounding and knock out ridiculous distances on the treadmill (I do stuff like this all the time when I don't want to run outdoors because of the weather, last December I did all of my long runs going into the WDW Marathon (all 14, 16, and 18 mile runs) on an indoor track) doesn't make my runs any less real.

Does anyone know/remember what kind of discounts Procompression usually offers at the Expos?

Did a 4 mile/10 mile combo Thursday and Friday. The heat and humidity in Mississippi is real. I'll do one more long run in 2 weeks, maybe 11 miles. I won't be going beyond the half distance. I never have in training and this weather is not the time to start for me. This will probably be my first and last time training through summer. It's just too much for me. Give me 50 degrees all day any day for running!

I'm going to try to get in 6 and 8 miles over the course of this week, and then hopefully hit 10 miles Saturday morning in New Orleans.

Will mix in a couple of 3 and 4 mile runs in between long runs, but nothing super structured.

We're about to start on a major renovation and backyard construction at the house, so couple that with the husband being out of town off and on for two weeks prior to the race, I'll just have to "make things work", so to speak.
