Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

STOP! This never happens to me.

It's SO obnoxious. He does it ALL the time with EVERYTHING.

I patiently and tediously watch for the best flights and times for things, and then he just logs on last-minute and BOOM!, always gets the best deal.

I'm actually kind of PO'd that I burned points for my flights. :( Oh wells.

Couple of quick questions for you experts:
1. My flight lands in SNA at 9:55am on Thursday. If things go well, I could start heading to the Expo around 11:30 or so. I was wondering if I should head there right away or wait a few hours. I have read that the first couple of hours on Thursday can be crazy busy. Has that been everyone's experience? I would like to get some event merchandise though...
2. I am staying at Anaheim Plaza Hotel on Harbor. How much time should I give myself to walk to the corrals? I hate being too early then standing a really long time waiting for my corral to start...

Me too, I love it!

I heard at Tink that they were doing one and it was going to be colorful unlike the Steamboat Mickey ones. Now whether or not they actually do it is another thing. :goodvibes

I wasn't into them until the Tink ones this Jan and it'll probably be my only pair. I love anything neon in shoes and they glow in the dark so I got a pair. I don't run in them, but where them instead of running shoes if I'm out, and around the parks. But a lot of people where them for running. I think people go crazy for them b/c they're Disney and the only place you can get them is at the expo or ebay so it drives up the demand.

Ok, I can appreciate the love of all things neon too. I didn't really understand, I mean, I'm so particular about my running shoes, I mean, I like the blue/black pair of shoes I have but the purple ones just don't fit the same, and the mint greens ones are good, but not quite as good as the blue/black ones, and they are all the same brand, model, number etc!

@roselark if you want Dumbo merchandise, I would recommend getting there as soon as possible. If you just want race merchandise, you could probably take your time. The craziest time is going right at opening. People will get there super early (think 6) and line up, so when they first open it's a bit of a madhouse.

I'm the same way. I was in the Asics 2000 series and never ventured out then had an injury and they changed the model slightly and I hopped over to Hoka and have been in them since last year; that was after scouring ebay, amazon and all those sites for older 2000 models. I knew I was buying the NB as fun shoes so it was easier; more of a 1 and done type of thing. I couldn't buy shoes at the expo and then wear them race day, I know too many things would go wrong, blisters and wrong fit like netural vs stability I'd never make it through the race. But a lot of people do it and race day clothes too, I have to do a dry run in anything I'm wearing day of.

apparently im with the cool kids in d.. glad my PoT was accepted as it was under my maiden name..

hopefully in a for the 5k (assume it starts with 40,xxx)

love both courses- so should be good

I'm in B, my brother's in A. We're going to aim to get to the corrals at 4:30 to line up in as front as we can get.
Only 4 more weekend runs to go!

I will be there for the Dumbo Double Dare. I am coming in on Thursday for the 10th Anniversary Party and leaving on Monday. Can't wait. It will be only my second trip to Disneyland.

I have never bought a Sparkle skirt but noticed Sparkle Athletics is listed as an exhibitor, I remember reading on here some of you being disappointed they weren't going to be there. Looks like they will be unless it's a misprint.

There are two different companies. One is Sparkle Skirts, the other is Sparkle Athletic. Sparkle Athletics skirts are think, with no shorts underneath. And not usually patterned. Sparkle skirts, ironically, aren't all spakrly, but have different designs and patterns, and include shorts.

What I found interesting, was that on the list was something just called "Running Skirts." I wonder what that will be. Much smaller booth than Sparkle Skirts usually gets.

Oh ok, good to know, I thought they were all one in the same with the Sparkle name! I wear Skirt Sports brand skorts, but wondered about Sparkle Skirts, not Sparkle Athletics apparently as I want shorts underneath. Who knows on Running Skirts, I found a runningskirts.com so maybe them?!?!

Running Skirts is a third brand.

Yeah - #TeamSparkle skirts are essentially confetti-glitter overlay skirts. Love them.

I wonder if Running Skirts is the new name for Skirt Sports? IDK. Weird.

The courses, event guide and waivers are up!

YAY!!!

Yeah - I wish there was one stuck in between <2:35 and <3:15 because that's a pretty big time jump, but whatever. I'll just have to get there early!

Yep, I'm right at the front of D - my POT was about 2:40. Wish I'd trained a bit harder now lol!

Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the logo on the event guide cover! If that's the shirt logo too, I will be so thrilled!

OMG me too!

Just did a Google image search for recent 5K bibs at Disneyland to get an idea of what the number range is for corrals consistently. Nothing real scientific. But who knows how rD assigns 5K bibs, since I just registered through a TA like two weeks ago.

So I'm not as high tecky tecky as you lol! My 5k bib number is 41,*** - any idea which corral I'll be in?

Guys, they added more park time for the half.

I was looking at the map and thought it looked a bit different then normal so I pulled up one of the old maps. We enter property a good half mile earlier and were getting more back stage time at Disneyland. We're still exiting at mile 4. But they managed to alter the course just enough for more park time.

Awesome! More park is always good.

I don't get the deal with the shoes. Do you collect them and put them on a shelf? Or do you actually run in them? Why do people go so ebay crazy over something that is going to wear out in a few months?

*If* I was to buy the shoes (and I honestly can't justify the price so unless the design for this year is all sorts of awesome and I just can't resist, then I won't be buying them), I would wear them as comfortable walking shoes for park time, picnics, shopping etc.

I would go straight to the expo if you want official merch.

I'd probably allow half an hour from Anaheim Plaza. Time how long it takes you to get to the expo. The corrals are a bit further, but you'll save time not having to go through bag check, so it'd probably work out about the same.

Thrilled that Sparkle Athletic will be there - that's where I normally buy my sparkle skirts because I like to wear my own shorts/tights underneath.

Ah. Totes my bad. I'm pretty new to this whole running skirt thing, since I usually just wear tennis skirts when I run.

FWIW, based on the official corral guide, our party of 4 will have one participant in A, B, C and D corrals lol! Although DH will come back to D to start with me.

You're good, girl. I've just seen Running Skirts at lots of expos in the past and looked into buying them before, so I'm somewhat familiar with them. They do their sizing sort of oddly, in my opinion (Size 1, Size 2, Size 3). Of course, I've never actually WORN one of their skirts so who knows, maybe they're awesome.

The funny thing is, what kept me from buying skirts from Running Skirt in the past was the price (and not being able to figure out the sizing)...and now I'm addicted to SparkleSkirts and INKnBURN, two running brands that are NOT cheap. How things change...

I ran today! Woohoo! :yay:

I did 3 miles...mile 1 was run 1:00/walk 1:00 intervals. Mile 2 was run 1:15/walk 1:00 intervals, and mile 3 was run 1:30/walk 1:00 intervals. My overall pace was about 1:00-1:30/mile slower than what I'm used to, but I was just so happy to run again with no pain! Though I felt like I lost ALL of the muscle in my legs.

My throat got super sore last night and I felt sort of achey and had chills, so I didn't go to yoga like I'd been planning. Throat is still very dry today but better...my body is not cooperating lately. :confused3

I'm thinking I'll run again tomorrow (2/1 or 1:30/1 intervals the whole way, haven't decided yet), yoga on Sunday and then back to my regular schedule on Monday. I'm looking forward to feeling like myself again, for sure. :goodvibes
