Official 2015 Disney Marathon Thread

Should I be expecting an email from subset regarding my proof of time? I submitted a 2:58:09 half marathon time from two weeks ago for my first full. I have another half scheduled in September and hopefully I'll improve. I know I can email them but how do I know if my first proof of time was accepted

I'm not 100 percent sure since I've only done it for the halfs when registering but I would say no. When I submitted 10k times with my Wine and Dine and Avengers registration I didn't hear from them. They only email time I got an email from them was when I submitted a proof of time from the same 10k for Dumbo during Princess weekend saying they were busy and not to expect everything to be processed quickly,

Registered for the half yesterday with DH. We got confirmation emails but when we click on the link it says ATTENTION! You are not authorized to view this registration.
Anyone else have this problem?

I've seen that same thing in the past with other Disney races I've registered for. I don't even bother looking anymore :)

Just thinking ahead...

Anyone have the corral breakdowns from last year? Wondering where a 2:40 half might land me for the full. Wondering what the cutoff times were between corrals to decide if it makes sense to try for a better time.

So, this is the best blog analysis I've read on the subject.

I googled around and found these:

Of course it'll change depending on what kinds of times people submit. :) Should give you an idea though.

Booked our hotel for Marathon weekend through the RunDisney line! :cool1: I'll definitely be monitoring for discounts, etc later on though. The runDisney site says they give a discount on packages, but they definitely were giving rack rates.

Has anyone stayed at AK for Marathon weekend? Thoughts?

Another question - Do the CL lounges open earlier on race days? If they do, I might consider switching to that in order to get some coffee & a muffin pre-race.

Thanks a ton! I've been trying to find where the heck I might fall for the corrals based on what I'm hoping will happen at the Disneyland half. But I hadn't been able to find any with the times attached.

You got it! :thumbsup2 I had one I was about to post and realized the times were not there...would have been super unhelpful.

When I registered it appeared that there was an option to buy a female jacket but not an option to buy men's sizes. Is this correct or did I miss something?

Might sound like a dumb question, but are you female or male? I only saw the female option as well and just assumed it was there because I'd already checked that I was a female on the previous page.

Then again, they do make you indicate whether you want unisex or women's-cut running shirts...??? (Maybe because it was the same page as the female/male question so I hadn't submitted it yet?) :confused3

ETA: Nevermind, just went back and looked - seems to only be a women's cut option! Weird!!!

I don't believe there are any spectator packages. I think the races are too short for that. Family can watch runners in the 5k at the finish area. For the 10k, the race does go around the Boardwalk and past the Beach Club, so a family member could always watch from that location. Also, for the 10k, family can watch at the finish area as well.

Thank you!

I think the chart that was posted is pretty spot on. We submitted a 2:34 half time and we were in corral L for the full.

From this year's marathon weekend and the tot, I'm not sure they make a men's jacket.

:confused3

Somehow me wanting to do the WDW Half marathon for my 40th birthday has morphed into a week-long vacation at Disney World, with my son and husband coming along for the ride...how the heck did that happen?!?

I just hope I'm getting the best prices for everything! flight - check, hotel - check...now just waiting for the packages to be released in the fall to determine if I need to change hotel reservations

She clearly identified the pain as an IT band issue. I've read so much about the foam roller, but was surprised to see that it produced instantaneous relief! Not to say it won't return, but now I have a solid plan and a diagnosis that makes sense.
I'm so glad you have a solid diagnosis, but very sad that it's my personal nemesis, ITBS! I'm ready to rip my left IT Band right out of my leg at this point, lol! The upside is that most folks don't have the ongoing contributing issues I do, so there really is hope for recovery. :thumbsup2

How strict are they about the 16 min/mile for the fun run? We would like to be able to stop and see some characters along the way if possible.
Not even remotely strict - I think I averaged around a 21:00 mile at this year's Princess 5K! It's a very relaxed, take your time, stop for lots of pics kind of race.

Did you notice the disclaimer:

Events may sellout before percentages can be updated.

I'm wondering if people were making it through the sign up process before being informed that an event was sold out?
Oh wow, no, I didn't see that! I'm sure the handful of people who comprise rD don't work nights, so the percentages likely couldn't be updated after work hours.

Not for marathon weekend, but for Princess weekend... I loved it! I like feeling away from all of the action and need lots of down time when racing, and AKL/V was perfect for that. Race buses were plenty easy and efficient, too.

That's great - thank you! I think my husband is going to LOVE that resort.
