Official 2015 Disney Marathon Thread

Disney usually don't open up the following year for bookings until August if I recall correctly.

Okay that makes no sense since 180 Day ADRs should start in July if you have a January reservation. So color me a bit confused on that one. Do your ADR reservations start the minute you book your hotels or what?

And yeah I know about the phone thing. My parents are the one who make the hotel reservations, they are not going to go for the whole call in to make a room reservation I can tell you that right now. Plus their is the fact we're overseas right now and we would have to do the entire thing over Skype.

You can book an ADR with or without a room reservation. One system has nothing to do with the other.

Oh doh. Forgot about that. I knew that I just forgot thanks for the reminder. I was thinking of the 180+10 thing I think. Sometimes I can be a bit of a space case.

Admittedly I can't remember the last time I tried to book an ADR without a room reservation. This is going to be interesting.

Wow...can not believe how fast everything is filling up. I was stuck between trying to improve on my half time from this year or go for a full. Pulled the trigger on the full, it will be my first! Hitting the register button put a knot in my stomach. Excited...but nervous!:cool1:

Another marathoner! Cool! You're going to love it :)

bumbershoot, I'm so sorry about the 5K! And it went so fast! Must set some kind of record for 5Ks, I'd think.

I'm so happy about some great news regarding my knee issue (previously identified as a meniscus irritation with recommendation to not run for a month.) Athletic trainer (MS, LAT) at Sports Medicine Clinic had a different take based on an extensive exam. She clearly identified the pain as an IT band issue. I've read so much about the foam roller, but was surprised to see that it produced instantaneous relief! Not to say it won't return, but now I have a solid plan and a diagnosis that makes sense. Thanks again to bumbershoot for all the encouragement/advice, and to Princess V for the cross training encouragement!

Hi folks,

I am a long time runner but a first time Disney Runner. I was lucky enough to register for the Dopey Challenge today.

My wife and son are going to be doing the 5k portion with me and I will be going it alone for the other three races.

How strict are they about the 16 min/mile for the fun run? We would like to be able to stop and see some characters along the way if possible.

Thanks

Dave

Super excited to run my first Run Disney race next January! Just doing the half this time, but might consider doing the full in 2016 - we'll see! Already have a few runs under my belt, but this one I'm REALLY excited about.

We did the Family breakfast after the Royal Family 5k (Princess Weekend) in 2013. The food was mediocre at best and I didn't really think it was a good value.

Amanda

Hi Amanda!!! Are you registered for Marathon Weekend?

The 16 min/mile starts when the last person crosses the starting mats, so as long as you finish before 48 minutes and change from that point you are fine.

I'm in! Signed up for the full and 5K! This will be my first marathon. The 5K is something I am doing with my SMIL and SIL and my DW is running the 10K

I'm signed up for the half marathon and somehow convinced dh to sign up with me... guess I have a training partner now!!!

How do the corrals work? Like how do they place you for the family 5k fun run? Just wondering. Figure I'll be good be January since started my training last week, but just wondering

My wife is wanting to due a half marathon! How many are there total? Thanks

Well at this race weekend there is only one which just filled. But in total at Disney World there is three including this one. And then there are three more in California. So there are quiet a few options.

Thank you for the empathy. I still feel really badly about it. DH and DS are being so sweet. I might be more upset about not doing this than they are upset about not getting to do the 5K.

I'm so glad for your new diagnosis and prognosis! And the immediate relief!

I estimated a 15 minute mile for DS and my 5K, and we were either last or second to last corral.

I really really would recommend that no matter what corral you're in, be there in time to be at the FRONT. It just makes so much difference.

When I check (and DH checked on his computer which didn't have a cached version) and it still shows 85% for the Half. If you wanted that and you're up tonight, you might want to check again!

Ah, I see it was explained on the predictions thread, seems it's either glitching or IS full. WOW.

My brother teased me when he signed up for the Disneyland Half, because I told him to be on it immediately at 9am pacific time (like I wasn't this morning, ugh), because things were selling out almost like Comicon. He's a Comicon goer for the past 5 or so years so would get the urgency. And then he got right in, no issues. But every since that race it's all over!

Hmm.. It's about midnight PST and I was just messing around on the Active registration site and it's allowing me register for the 5K and 10K still. Maybe a few spots opened up? Worth a shot for anyone who couldn't get in this morning. Good luck!

I was doing the same thing with the 5K, but when I got to the screen to click to put payment through, it errored out with a message about limits being reached. :(

Hubby and son are being absolute saints about this. Of course, they've already worked it out that they get to do Avengers 5K next year (assuming I can wake up of course! notice my insomnia is in full force again right now). Clever dudes. They'll also get the cheEAR package for my WDW Half, so they don't have to wander around aimlessly like they did at the TOT party last year. And I'm allowing my son to milk it just a bit...after all, this would have been his "re-do" of a rotten 5K this year while I was sick and his immune system wasn't doing so great either. Well, he does get a re-do of his Mickey Mile. :)

And on that note I'm going to go insist that my brain shut down for the evening. Cross fingers it works!
