Official 2015 Disney Marathon Thread

Unless it changed from a couple of years ago, Disney races are NOT eligible for the waiving of fees. I know a couple of years ago I was an active.com member and they were not.

You were an Active.com member or an Active Advantage member? Two very different things.

My wife and I are Annual Passholders. Where can we register tomorrow (April 16, 2014) when registration is supposed to open for the January 2015 Disneyworld Marathon weekend?

I cannot find and page in the annual passholder web site.

Thank you
Dan

If you're an Active.com member (the free membership) you get the advantage of pre-entering your address, birthdate, etc. I'm not sure about the Active Advantage membership (paid membership) because I've never had it. :confused3

If you sign in to DisneyWorld.com and go to Annual Passholders > Events & Special Offers > Passholders! Enjoy Early Registration for runDisney Events it'll be there. There are no links yet...they'll go live tomorrow at noon EST.

Go to the Annual passholders link under My Disney Experience, then click on Events & Special Offers (on the left). Scroll down and click on Early Registration for RunDisney Events - you'll see a list of events and when they'll open. The live link will appear there tomorrow at 12pm EDT.

If I were in your place, I'd sign up for the half or the 10k. If your recovery goes well, you can run. If it does not go well, you can defer to 2016. Better to have the option to run and not need it than want it if you're healthy and not have it.

Enablement! I like it :). I definitely leaning towards 10k though.

First - congrats on your recovery! Sounds like you're well on your way. :yay: You know your body best, but I think I'd go for the 5K if you feel like you'll be able to walk it. I seriously strolled most of the Princess 5K this year to preserve my legs/energy for the 10K and half - very slow, very leisurely, very fun! The lack of sweepers made it an easy one to do for fun instead of speed.

Thank you! I'm trying to stay positive. It's been a tough road. 2014 has been a wash so far. I'm missing nike woman's in two weeks, iron girl, and a local tri.

My ds4 has such a good time last year doing the 5k. I may just do it to see his adorable face when he crosses the finish line.

He is my husband!! Lol

I would run that snoqualmie 8K you are doing but I work that weekend.

I am a RN and work every other weekend.

Just a few more hours until AP holder registration opens!!! Excited to register for my first full marathon, happy to have my PHM proof of time, and can't wait to run the 5K with my kids!

The only part I'm not sure about is the race retreat. I purchased it for the PHM and enjoyed it, but planned to skip it for the marathon in January. I don't eat a ton before or after the race, the bag checks outside the RR didn't look too busy and I'm familiar enough with the port-o-potty situation that I'd be OK without the RR bathrooms. But pre-race temperature/climate control and the changing space (yeah, not the best, but it's there) are making me think twice. I also like arriving super early so that I don't have to worry about being late, so it was nice to have a place to wait. And, of course, there's the bacon. Not a decision I have to make today, but interested in your thoughts and experiences!

Glad I stumbled on this board - I kept looking for a runDisney "board"...:)

Excited to sign up today - we are both AP holders and DVC so hopefully one of those link/pages will work for us today....:)

I am going to wait until regular registration opens to get the Disney Visa discount...if the 10k is full by then, then I will live with it. I'm having a hard time paying over $100 for a 10k anyway. It is a good course, but in reality, I live here and I can go run around the Boardwalk any time I want, for free. And I can do tons of local events for $35 for a 10k, where I get a tech shirt and a medal, and a nice course as well....UGH!! Hopefully there are still some spots for the 10k when I go to sign up during regular registration, if I don't talk myself out of it by then...I still plan to volunteer for the half/full marathon though!!

Just signed up for my very first 1/2 marathon.

I feel a little crazy right now. - so nervous and so excited all at the same time.

I think the hardest part of the training will be training my body to wake up at 3am! :)

Early registration links say they are only for annual Passholders who are Florida residents.

Anyone else seeing that?

Where are the non-Florida resident annual passholder early registration links?

Thank you!
Dan
