Official 2015 Disney Marathon Thread

Early registration links say they are only for annual Passholders who are Florida residents.

Anyone else seeing that?

Where are the non-Florida resident annual passholder early registration links?

Thank you!
Dan

Well, it let me register, and I live in Ohio.

Sign in to DisneyWorld.com and go to Annual Passholders > Events & Special Offers > Passholders! Enjoy Early Registration for runDisney Events

Good luck!!!

No, I got in through my AP non-resident

just registered...sucked into goofy at the last moment. Damn runDisney. I was going to do just a marathon this year. Can't resist the bling!

Interesting ....... on the page where one needs to sign the waiver it says that the race is full.

Yet I tried just to pay and it worked.

Any idea if I, as an annual passholder. can register my son and his girlfriend?

Thank you,
Dan

10k so far with me and DH and DS. What kind of discount does DVisa do? I'm not sure if I want to wait to register for the full when the discount comes out or just do it now?

I had a scary moment when I was signed up and attemping to do the other two when it said that it was full. I was like :furious:?! But then I just went back to the beginning and it worked. Whew!!:banana:

Registered the whole crew today!

5k/10k - me, 10k/half for DD14, 5k for DS4 and Grandma and Dopey #2 + RR for the husband.

Ouch. That hurt! Can't wait though..so much fun

I registered for the half through the DVC site but I didn't see a link for the 5k. Seems odd that they options for all the races except for the 5k..hmmm. Hopefully I can get in when the regular registration opens up. My wallet is hurting but I'm psyched! TOT in Oct, now this. So many fun Disney events to look forward to!

That's interesting. I wonder if they are trying to prevent it from selling out super quickly like last year (since some of the spots are taken up by Dopey runners)? :confused3 I hope you get in next week!

I registered my running partner. So you should be good. I got the same error about being full when I clicked on register another person. I paid for my registration and then went back in and it let me register someone else no problems.

We're non-Florida AP holders, and I went through the AP links on the Disney website to register for the full marathon, and to register myself and our three boys for the 5K. Yay!

But when I tried to go back in either to the disney website or to the active.com website to view registrations, it won't let me. I'm not concerned - that happens to us every time we register for a runDisney event.

Great to know ..... Thank you CaptHomer

I tried signing up for the marathon through the DVC page. The discount didn't automatically work so is there a code to use?

NM I see it! :)

I had to go back and look closely for it too, once I realized it didn't automatically get included. It's not very noticeable at the bottom of the text on the DVC Member site. $10 off is $10 off and I'll take it, but personally I signed up for the Dopey so $10 is a pretty insignificant discount on that registration fee (1.8%). It would be nice if the discount was proportional to the entry fee or counted per event in the multi-day challenges. However demand is high so there's no need for that and Disney won't leave money on the table.

Jealous of everyone who is already registered. I'm excited for general registration to open next week. :hyper:

Here's another question. I just went to active.com and you can sign up for a 1-month trial for active advantage for $1.99. Could you sign up and then register for the WDW races and save the processing fee and then cancel after the month is over?

Me too!! I have a 3 day weekend coming up, so hopefully that will distract me from thinking about this and Tues will be here before I know it!

The only part I'm not sure about is the race retreat. I purchased it for the PHM and enjoyed it, but planned to skip it for the marathon in January. I don't eat a ton before or after the race, the bag checks outside the RR didn't look too busy and I'm familiar enough with the port-o-potty situation that I'd be OK without the RR bathrooms. But pre-race temperature/climate control and the changing space (yeah, not the best, but it's there) are making me think twice. I also like arriving super early so that I don't have to worry about being late, so it was nice to have a place to wait. And, of course, there's the bacon. Not a decision I have to make today, but interested in your thoughts and experiences!

FWIW, I was pointed to the *big* portopotties at the Retreat and told that was where the changing area was. And by the end of the Retreat time after this year's Half, there was at least one guy not caring what bathroom area he was using, so I felt very uncomfortable (but I had to use the bathroom).

I might have been pointed to the wrong place, but I didn't SEE any other changing area at all in the Retreat.

For me it was the muffins. And the eggs, dowsed in hot sauce (b/c I hate Disney scrambled eggs but NEEDED the protein). Oh and the coffee.

Just signed up for my very first 1/2 marathon.

I feel a little crazy right now. - so nervous and so excited all at the same time.

I think the hardest part of the training will be training my body to wake up at 3am! :)

Yay you!

I haven't done a single training run forcing myself to be up that early (especially since 3am eastern is midnight here and I'm NOT running at midnight), but I managed to wake up for my events. :) For me training is training the legs and lungs and heart and figuring out my hydration and fuel...not the actual waking up part.

And omg I just signed myself up for the Half. I surprised myself 100%. I hadn't even thought about it. I was sick as a dog this year for the 5K I limped through with DS, he started getting sick on the day of his Mickey Mile, and was REALLY getting sick with what I already had, as he was watched over by my aunt as I limped even slower through my Very First Half marathon. We were too sick after that to go to a park and wear our medals, which is a much bigger bummer than I ever thought ahead of time it would be!

But suddenly I just went to the DVC site and just did it. And I'll be signing the family up for the 5K once it's open (WHY am I not an active AP holder now? WHY?) for me. (why can't I do the 5K with DVC?)

Can you use a voucher to link to MDE to get registered now?

So my son and I are having a re-do. We're going to beat these races. Woo!

Alright, I'm in for 2015. ;)

After completing the Dopey this year, my running buddy (WISHer Kirsty_Leigh) looked at me in the finisher area (with ice strapped to both of her knees...) and told me that we were doing it again next year. :rotfl2:

I'm taking my 2 year old and 4 year old this year, so Dopey was out, because I can't handle four early mornings with toddlers. But Kirsty registered me for the Goofy today, so I guess that's what I'm doing. :lmao:

runDisney events are not included in those eligible for the processing fee discount. Sorry!
