Official 2015 Disney Marathon Thread

i'm in for dopey and DH is in for the half (his first ever!). we (and our boys who will be 5 and 3) will be staying through MLK weekend. can't wait!!

I'm really frustrated - I'm an AP holder trying to register, but when I go to the section of MDE for rundisney, it keeps telling me to link my AP to my account, which is already linked in the account. Based on Rundisney's FB page, I'm not the only one having this issue.

I contacted WDW and Rundisney and was told by WDW that "it's a known issue" and that the only thing I can do is keep trying.

I'm sorely tempted to call them and have them completely delete my MDE account and start from scratch and see what happens.

Interesting ....... on the page where one needs to sign the waiver it says that the race is full. Yet I tried just to pay and it worked. Any idea if I, as an annual passholder. can register my son and his girlfriend? Thank you, Dan
Thanks for telling us it worked for you! I was having the same problem. After I read that, I went back and tried mine again and sure enough it let me through. I would not have tried it again if you had not written that, so I really appreciate it. My husband and I are registered for the marathon, my first since the great frozen marathon of 2010 (one of the best days of my whole life). I am excited now to focus on training! Sorry, I do not know the answer to the question above.

You are welcome, GBB Tomorrow.

Registered for the 10k for me today, DH, DD and her boyfriend are all registered for the half. So glad I could register for the 10k early since it sold out so fast last year. Since there are only limited spots because the rest are taken up by the Dopey runners I probably would have missed out if I had to wait for the general public registration since I wouldn't be able to do it until after 1:30 when I get home. No problem last year at that time (sold out about and hour later though) but think it will go much quicker this year. Now we all just need to keep training and enjoy all our other Disney trips before marathon weekend in Jan. Can't wait!!

Ann Marie,

She's my wife ....... we met thru DISBoards!

He is my husband!! Lol

I would run that snoqualmie 8K you are doing but I work that weekend.

I am a RN and work every other weekend.

Nancy

:rotfl2: that is AWESOME! I kinda wondered. I mean... what is the likelihood that two people from the same smallish town would be on this same thread.

BTW, ya know how I asked you about the 12k? Well, looking on the USTAF site... it truly is NOT a 12k. It was billed as such..but USTAF has it as a 12.3k. Which is exactly what I thought... 7.65 miles. Not that it should matter... but that extra 2 tenths of a mile is "extra" I am glad I was not looking to use it as a POT because it is listed as a 12k and so my finish time reflects a slower pace for an actual 12k than the recorded pace.

And omg I just signed myself up for the Half. I surprised myself 100%. I hadn't even thought about it. I was sick as a dog this year for the 5K I limped through with DS, he started getting sick on the day of his Mickey Mile, and was REALLY getting sick with what I already had, as he was watched over by my aunt as I limped even slower through my Very First Half marathon. We were too sick after that to go to a park and wear our medals, which is a much bigger bummer than I ever thought ahead of time it would be!

But suddenly I just went to the DVC site and just did it. And I'll be signing the family up for the 5K once it's open (WHY am I not an active AP holder now? WHY?) for me. (why can't I do the 5K with DVC?)

I am glad to hear you registered. I think you definitely deserve a do over!

Dh and I got registered for the half too! :cool1:

I think that the "do-over" concept was rolling around in my head subconsciously, and that's why I ended up on the site today. OK it was also because I was checking on something (question on another board yesterday) to see if I'd answered correctly. And then boom. Registered. I was messaging with DH asking if he had objections, and he'd barely said anything and I just went ahead registered. :scared1: At least we have all those air miles!!!!

This might be the visit that we actually DO book a campsite and bring our tent, LOL.

So glad you guys are registered! Let's just follow each other back and forth across the country, OK? :)

So no dvc stay in January? Have you ever booked the campsite? I really have always always ALWAYS wanted to stay in one of the cabins.

:lmao: Right?!!! OMG, we live all of like 40 minutes from each other! We really should start a WWA run disney group!!! I know there are several of us here on this tread!!!

Can you register multiple people? Do you have to submit payment when you register or before the dates mentioned on their website? Is early registration closed for now for AP holders and DVC members? :confused3

I signed up 10k for dd & i, and half for me too. I've been wavering about the half and when registration opened, i just said what the heck...and just signed up. I've never run a half so I better start training :rotfl2:

You submit payment at the time of registration. There is a button that says "register another person" once you get to the checkout page, and no early reg is not closed yet - AP and DVC links should still be working !

This may have already been answered, but the thread is just getting too long to search properly.

How bad is it to drive to Epcot?

I live locally, and I really don't want to spend the extra $$ on a hotel stay. Is it completely intolerable to drive yourself?

annmarieda: The Cabins are awesome. They're my favorite place to stay on property. I love having a grill and a picnic table and it's very quiet.

Hi everyone! I'm signing up for the 1/2 and this will be my first half. I'm working on increasing my mileage and walking less. My goal is to just not get caught up by the sweepers!

This is also about 3 months before my 40th birthday, so it's my present to myself. I hope to get a lot of information from all of you people that seem to know everything!

I know the marathon sells out quickly, but what about the half?

It's not completely intolerable. It just requires getting up even earlier and risking traffic problems on the way to the parking lot.

I wouldn't expect the marathon or the half to sell out super quickly this year - I think the 10K and 5K will (10K is popular and both races have slots taken by Dopey runners)...Goofy as well since it's an anniversary year.

runDisney will start posting how full the events are when they reach 50%, so make sure to check there. Once capacity gets into the 90% range you'll really want to start thinking about pulling the trigger. Best guess is that everything will sell out before the first price increase in late June. :)

Thoughts, anyone else?

Even EARLIER? I live 8 miles from Epcot. I was hoping I could sleep until 3.
Maybe I'll just take this opportunity to stay at the Beach Club or something.

Earlier than if you were staying on property because typically it will take longer to drive in than take a bus from a resort. From only eight miles away, though, I'd drive myself.

Awesome! Another question...I've seen some posts referring to a discount for Disney Visa card members...do you get that automatically, or do you need to call someone? I'm also hoping to cover some portion of my hotel with the rewards points, so anyone know how to do that?
