Official 2014 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

My Dad's waiver still isn't appearing for the 10k. Maybe I put his date of birth in wrong :confused3

When can we expect the email? I'm getting a little concerned about this now and really want to make sure everything is ok, but I won't bother to contact them until all the official information has been sent out.

My older sister's and mine DDD waivers are showing up but my younger sister's 10k isn't showing up.

I had issues with seeing all of my waivers, too. The 5K waiver was under my actual birthday (the 29th), my DDD waiver was under the day before (the 28th). Try changing the birthday by one day earlier or later and see if it works for you.

Thanks, I will give that a go.

I did not receive "the email" for the Disney Marathon Weekend until Dec 19, 2013. I couldn't wait to see what corral I was in as this was my first runDisney event and I was doing the Goofy. So that was about 21 days before the first race of Marathon Weekend, the 5k. Who knows if that is typical, but they say to expect it about 1 month before the event.....so maybe middle end of next week or as late as Aug 6?????

Has anyone heard what the process will be for trying and buying New Balance shoes at the Expo? I heard that at the Princess Half weekend in February they originally set up an appointment system, but from reading some blogs it looks like that whole process was thrown out the window at some point during Expo and people were just waiting in lines for any shoes that were leftover.

I'm interested in buying a pair, but I'm trying to decide how much time it will take and whether I really want to spend a lot of time waiting in line or just skip it.

Does anyone have experience buying the rD shoes at the DL Expo last year? How long did people generally have to wait in line? Do the shoes sell out before Friday morning?

Is there something special about getting them at the Expo? Limited editions? Steep discounts? (*snort* like that's gonna happen....:) )

This will be my first rD race, but my understanding is that you can only get the special edition runDisney New Balance shoes at the rD Expos (or on eBay for twice the cost).

They are limited edition styles. I think they will just have the same ones as were at PHM, which were Cinderella. Think light blue with some yellow. There were red ones too - Minnie? Definitely no discounts! And I heard people who got reserved shoe buying times sometimes showed up and they didn't have all the sizes, so they still walked away empty handed. No guarantees!

If they're going to implement an online queuing system where you have to get up at 6am and have a 2 minute window to register where it's likely that the website will crash, then have to wait for a text message to tell you when it's your time (which may or may not be a convenient time to go)... It all sounds a bit too stressful. I'd rather just enjoy my limited time at DLR :thumbsup2 And take the opportunity to sleep in that morning :rotfl:

If I'm going past and there is a short line for fittings, and they have my size, I'll probably buy a pair.

I really think they should only allow runners, at least for the first day, and only allow one pair per person. At least then we wouldn't have to compete with people who are just stocking up to sell them on ebay

I actually emailed runDisney earlier this week. They responded that they have not yet determined the process.

I am tempted to get a pair of the NB shoes if I can, but it pains me to pay nearly 3x the price for the same pair of shoes I already have (with a different color scheme).

I will probably still get some, though. It's Disney and they have a way of taking my money with little resistance.

I was really surprised at PHM to see how many people ran the 1/2 in their brand new Cinderella shoes. I wouldn't want to go 13 miles in shoes I'd never run in before! But I guess they figured it was part of the experience?

I run in NB 890s all the time, but the Disney editions don't particularly appeal to me. I buy shirts and wine glasses at the expo!

Do they have Coast to Coast wine glasses? And if I ever bought one of those crazy expensive running jackets, it would be a C2C version too.

at the PHM expo, I didn't see too much Coast to Coast stuff, just couple of
t-shirts I think... I'm hoping theres more to choose from at this expo

.

Some may have purchased at the Marathon weekend expo. My regular running shoe is the NB860 and I ran the 5K in my spankin' new Disney shoes (but ran the other races in my regular shoes).

I didn't run the PHM but my Disney shoes were broken in by that point. Some of those people might have done the same thing and bought them six weeks earlier. But you're right about running a half in brand new shoes...that's asking for injuries.

Please help :)

I could have sworn that I saw a forum or group (maybe on FB) that trades Sparkle Athletic skirts.

Anyone know what I am talking about or have I gone crazy :confused3

Thanks!!
