**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

WELL!!! What do ya know??? It worked! lol. How come it worked this time? I tried it on both Disney Ticker sites and neither of them worked. haha. You have the magic touch I guess! THANKS SO MUCH Aladora :yay:

Not sure what you were trying before but I'm glad I could help! :thumbsup2

I'm a bit of a computer geek, comes from not only using them since the early 1980's but we own a tech company so I sure as heck better know a few things by now! :surfweb:

Well I certainly appreciate your help. I've never had ticker problems before so I honestly don't know what I was doing wrong either. lol

We've been twice in Sept and once in July. I was a little nervous about summer crowds, but it was't too bad and I actually liked that there was so much more entertainment in July compared to late Sept. Here's a few summer tips:

Stay longer than 3 days in the summer. 3 days were enough to do everything in Sept, but even 5 days in July didn't feel like enough.

Get to rope drop or EE if you can at the beginning of your trip and do all of the "big" rides in the morning. Our best ride experience of our July trip was riding splash 2 times in a row with a log to ourselves at 9am. We ended up doing mainly rides in the mornings and shows in the afternoon/evening.

Dancing with Disney- this is so fun and not to be missed. It's in stage 17 next to Muppet vision 3d and I think it's from 1-5pm. It's basically a character dance party.

Little mermaid is a great place to cool off in the afternoon and there is rarely a line.

Get free cups of water from counter service restaurants. The cups they give you are small but sometimes you'll get a CM who gives you a big cuo. We had water bottles that we kept on the stroller, but the water got hot.

This one is fairly accurate:

Ride Rehab list

It looks like so far the only closures are:

01/06/14 - 09/26/14 - Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
05/27/14 - 08/14/14 - Matterhorn Bobsleds

I wouldnt be surprised to see Haunted Mansion added to the list with a start date of 8/25. I think the monday before labor day is when it went down last year since they started the halloween stuff a week early

Looks like the Bobsleds are off the list as of yesterday. I hope so, all 4 mountains up and running would make me happy!!!

Looking at heading out to the Land August 24th through the 29th for our 20th anniversary! DW and I kicked off at WDW 20 years ago so we have to celebrate with the mouse...right? I'm making plans now to stay at DLH for 5 nights. Keeping it a secret right now from DD, but we'll see how long that lasts.:rolleyes1

I'm getting the best airfares for LAX. Would prefer SNA, but that might just have to do.

We were last in Cali 4 years ago for DD 4th B-Day and she doesn't remember much from then, can't wait to share it all with her again.

We were going to go the week before, but looking at the rates I just can't pass-up this last week of August!

Can't wait for Cars Lands and getting to explore more of the parks!!

Yay, welcome to the August thread!

DH and I went to Disneyland for our honeymoon almost 15 years ago and that was the start of my Disneyland love!

I totally get the debate of cost over convenience! It's at the point now that I will spend the extra money and fly into SNA but will save by not staying onsite. It's really all a cost/ benefit analysis for me.

I did it! Booked airfare to SNA for August 21st to Aug 28th! :yay: Now to decide if we're staying at DLH the entire time or doing a split stay. Kind of toying with the idea of staying near Legoland the first night.

That would make me sad :guilty: but not as sad as Matterhorn.

YAY!! That's GREAT to see :goodvibes:cheer2:

YAY! :thumbsup2 Welcome!!! I will add your information on to the first page.
DH and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at WDW. We did our special anniversary dinner at Animal Kingdom Lodge and it was wonderful. Do you have any special plans in mind for a special dinner or anything?

and i agree with you about the last week of August. It was hard for me to work our schedule out that way but I MADE it work :goodvibes

YIPEEEE! Your here to stay then? lol :rainbow:

I had some time to browse through all the posts again and jot down some notes I initially missed. I have updated the first page (posts on your dates, hotels, which parks and which restaraunts as well as races).

Please take a look and let me know if I've missed anything or if I made a mistake on anything so far.

If you specified a park day but not which park I just put HOP for now since you may be in either park.

I will continue to add and change info whenever someone posts info.

I will also start adding some questions soon. Perhaps a question per week? Things like post your FAVORITE RIDE or your FAVORITE PARK SNACK etc... Maybe I'll post the 1st one this Sunday night. Of course your welcome to ask anything else you want to know I just thought it would be fun to have a question of the week going.

Or if you think more than one a week let me know as I'm easy going :D

Thanks for keeping up this thread! I booked DLH this morning! We're staying there the full week instead of doing a split stay (no Hojo's). Staying from Aug 21-28. We might stay at Legoland hotel the first night, but I'll let you know if we change things.

I'm starting to get nervous about airfare. Originally my husband's vacation days were supposed to be approved by April 1st and now his manager says it will be May 1st.

I wanted to fly into SNA but decided I'd rather fly nonstop, which means we need to fly into LAX. It also means we need to fly Delta and the flights on the 25th have now either filled or had their prices go up. So now I'm thinking about flying out Friday afternoon and just adding that extra weekend on - but I don't know if I should book now to lock it in and risk the vacation days changing?? If I were flying Southwest it wouldn't be a big deal, but those Delta change fees are freaking me out. If I don't book now, I could end up paying way more by May??

Ugh. :scared:

At this stage we will be hopping all 3 days but that may change to one day dedicated each park and then the last day to hop between parks and do stuff again, stuff missed and any last minute shopping.

:headache: ugh is right. I hope you figure out the best way to do it. I certainly vote for the extra weekend ;) LOL

How did we get bumped to the second page??? :scared:

I know hey?!?! How tragic is that??? :scared1: Let's not let it happen again ;) LOL

Got ya - I'll put you down as a hopper

My husband and I have decided to go to Disneyland for our 40th birthdays. Neither of us have ever been. I have done Disney World 5 times and he has been there once. He must have really enjoyed it as it was his suggestion to go to Disneyland :). I used disboards to plan our April 2012 trip and got tons of great info...looking forward to doing the same for this trip. I recognized "wakica from Saskatchewan" from the official April 2012 thread! :thumbsup2
We will be staying Aug 1-Aug 10.

Welcome and yay, another Canadian!

I celebrated both my 40th and 42nd birthdays at Disneyland, it's lots of fun!

Where in Ont are you? I grew up in Ottawa. :cheer2:

Cant quite figure out how to do the "ticker" again. I am guessing the one above was from 2 years ago.
