Official 2013 MVMCP Information

I went last night to the party! I had the print at home tickets, they call over a cast member with an iPad and scan the SKU! No problems at all and it was pouring rain!

Thank you! As I'm reading about everyone going to the party and getting so excited, I had a little panic attack that it was going to be so hard to get in with the tickets. Thanks for easing my mind! I hope you had a great time!

We went to the party last night.

We arrived to the park shortly after 4pm. It had just started sprinkling. Unfortunately it kept getting worse and worse so I was glad we chose to bring the umbrella. Short line at the turnstile and then we got our wristbands and went on our way. We did Haunted Mansion which was a walk on, then went and did Space Mountain, then did TTA four times back to back while the rain slowly started to slow down.

Shortly after 6:30, we got off and went to Fantasyland to figure out where characters would be in the rain. Took quite a few cast members for us to find out Mary Poppins would be near the Philharmagic exit. We followed the CMs deciding the location and they told us where to stand. We were first in line. They came out shortly after 7. My only complaint was that the entire meet and greet was rushed. There was no photopass photographer there yet and we were rushed to take our picture.

After that, it was just about 7:10 so we went to Pooh. We were about the fifth family in line. Had a really great interaction with them- however, photopass didn't capture much of it. I don't know what their policy is but you'd think if they want people to buy photos they would take more?? We were bouncing with Tigger and my boyfriend had a toy Optimus Prime that Eeyore was holding. They completely missed all that which made me sad.

It was now nearing 8pm so we went over to Fantasyland Train Station to meet Donald, Scrooge, and Daisy. Long line. We waited 45 minutes or so and they left about three times. The third time they came back, Scrooge didn't join them. We asked the attendant and luckily he came back just in time for our group. By now it was about 8:40pm.

We then went over to get the Country Bears. I went over to Columbia Harbor House to get some apple slices and cookies before our meet. They came out shortly after 9. Again, GREAT interaction. We were dancing with them while the band played and it was great. However, photopass didn't capture any of that again. It stinks that it's only the two of us for the parties and we didn't have anyone to photograph other special moments.

After having fun square dancing and group hugs, we went to the hub for the fireworks. My boyfriend and I are local so we enjoy taking photos of the fireworks and comparing shots, so we took pictures. I have to say I prefer Hallowishes but it was still a good time. Afterwards, we moved down Main Street and got a spot across the street from Uptown Jewelers. We had almost an hour to wait so we sat and looked through photos and watched the snow.

I left to get more apple slices from Crystal Palace. I was eating my apples on the curb when some tasted weird. I eat apples all the time and didn't think they could taste strange. I looked at the bag and it said "best used by November 15." It was November 21. :/

Anyways, the parade started and we watched that. It was cute but I prefer the Boo to You Parade. We took some photos again and enjoyed looking at everything.

Afterwards, we went to Adventureland and joined the line for Aladdin and Abu's last set. We were one of the last groups to meet them. Had a good discussion with them. We hopped right back in line and got Jasmine and Genie. Afterwards, we had about 15 minutes so we grabbed some cocoa, apple juice, and cookies and walked over to Big Thunder to close the night.

All in all, we enjoyed ourselves and were very happy that the rain cleared up. We had never done the Christmas Party before so it was interesting to see the differences between the two. We will probably end up only doing the Halloween Party next time. I think we did good - got 19 characters (if I did my math right); a chunk of which we hadn't met before. Fun times! :)

Does anyone who has been to any of the last couple parties have info on the availability of the pins? Someone a couple pages back mentioned that they heard that there was an amount set aside for each date, but is this accurate?

I saw all of the pins available tonight except the Minnie and Mickey pin. Apparently they only offer a certain amount at each location per party so once they're gone for the night, they're gone.

Wow! Your fourth party...so cool!! But, if you watched the parade again, that means you have seen my DD perform 4 times and I have yet to see her once!

Less than two weeks and we will be there!!:)

My understanding is that Mary Poppins never has photopass at Disney. Something about not having the rights. I know we've never had photopass when meeting her in the park.

Thanks for the info! Maybe the "Saving Mr. Banks" movie will shed some light on that...

Is it possible to take a photo with the Penguins only or do you have to pose with all the characters as a group? Just asking because older DD will be wearing a hand-crafted Poppins Penguin scarf and though it would be a cute photo with the Penguins only.

Oh, okay. Just wasn't sure if it was because of them coming out very last minute. Literally when Mary and them came out, all the attendants and such came too so there was little time for prepping the line and such. I've only ever met her at Characterpalooza so I didn't know. Interesting to know.

I think you should be able to ask for a penguin only shot. We did that once at Characterpalooza. But it probably depends on how long the line is.

So does this mean I have to ask some random person to take my pic with them or they have photographers there, but they use your personal camera? Sorry...I'm sure that's a dumb question but totally want a pic with Mary, Bert and penguins. What dress is Mary wearing? Nanny or jolly holiday?

The photos I have see were with her Jolly Holiday dress. That's not to say if it's a cold night she won't be in her coat though.

And yes, if you aren't with someone, you'll need to ask the character handler or someone behind you in line to take your photos.

Mary Poppins will not have a PhotoPass person. you will need to have a person take your picture,

Hi, I'm hoping some of you who have gone before can help me out.

We are planning on going to the party on Thursday Dec 12. We are not interested in meeting the characters or watching the shows. I only booked the party because this is a quick weekend trip for us, so going to the party was our only shot at MK this trip. We basically just want to ride rides and see the parade and fireworks. If we could get a chip and dale pin without too much waiting, I'd like to do that also.

My plan is to arrive by about 3:30, enter as soon as they let us, and then head to Adventure Land. We have dinner reservations at Liberty Tree at 5:45, so I'd like to tour all of Adventure land and Frontier land before dinner, but am not sure that will be possible in 1.5hrs. Then just continue touring around the larger loop, Fantasyland and then Tomorrow land last, so that we end up back at the hub for fireworks and the later parade.

First, how realistic is this plan? I'm just not sure how long to expect the lines for rides to be.

Second, how will the lines of people waiting for character signatures and the parade route affect traveling around the park? Can we still move pretty quickly or is it very congested or blocked in places?

Third, if we want to get a pin, where and when are the best locations? Can I get one before the party starts or only after 7? As this is our only night to ride rides, I don't want to waste time waiting in a shop for one little pin.

Fourth, we are staying at the Dolphin, does anyone know if you can use your party ticket to schedule same day FP+ during the party?

Thanks

It depends on how busy the party and the line is. We have meet them 3 times over 4 parties. We have seen attendants say it's fine to get a group shot and then another photo with 1-2 characters (my sister got an individual photo with Bert) But I've seen them refuse on the first night (which was sold out)

Mary Poppins usually meets at the party in her Jolly holiday outfit. If it's too cold, you might get her in her Nanny outfit and Bert in his chimney sweep outfit.

They have an attendant so you can ask them to take your photo.

I don't see how this could possibly be copyright infringement. It would have to be trademark, I suppose. This has to be some kind of limitation on the license negotiated between Disney and the IP holder.

Remind me where the pins are sold? I am totally blanking out -- I think my mind is on overload trying to get ready to leave in two days!!

Thanks! :goodvibes
