Thank you! I'm sure I'll be seeking advice for the PHM eventually.
This is all based on if they keep the same course:
Definitely bring sunglasses or some kind of hat/visor. After leaving the parks and going over the over pass (the only big "hill" on the course) we end up running directly into the rising sun. It's seriously blinding. It sounds like you're comfortable running in the heat, granted it might not even be hot by your TX standards.

If you want pictures with the characters, all the picture stops are at the beginning of the race in the first 3-4 miles while you're in the parks. They have bands and cheerleaders, etc for the rest of the race (last year they had a ton of classic cars).
The corrals get pretty crowded and it might be hard to get where you need to go. There's a main road that leads to the corrals and A-C are on the right, D-G on the left. D-G are the main issue: D & E are along one road, F & G are along the on-ramp to the parking structure. There are only narrow paths to get to certain corrals, people get confused and over all it's a big mess. My first year they eventually blocked people off from even getting to the corrals and DH and I had to do some barricade hopping to get back to our group. Moral of the story: get to your corral early and don't leave.
Overall, it's such a fun race!
