Official 2013 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

Rumor I heard was April 30. Galloway told someone in my running group at a race that the plan was done and sent on to rD, just waiting for them to pretty it up and release it!

Judging by last year's training calendar, that is the day this year's training is supposed to begin.

Thanks! :goodvibes Guess I am too excited - I have already started ramping my runs up.

Thank you! I'm sure I'll be seeking advice for the PHM eventually. :)

This is all based on if they keep the same course:
Definitely bring sunglasses or some kind of hat/visor. After leaving the parks and going over the over pass (the only big "hill" on the course) we end up running directly into the rising sun. It's seriously blinding. It sounds like you're comfortable running in the heat, granted it might not even be hot by your TX standards. ;)
If you want pictures with the characters, all the picture stops are at the beginning of the race in the first 3-4 miles while you're in the parks. They have bands and cheerleaders, etc for the rest of the race (last year they had a ton of classic cars).
The corrals get pretty crowded and it might be hard to get where you need to go. There's a main road that leads to the corrals and A-C are on the right, D-G on the left. D-G are the main issue: D & E are along one road, F & G are along the on-ramp to the parking structure. There are only narrow paths to get to certain corrals, people get confused and over all it's a big mess. My first year they eventually blocked people off from even getting to the corrals and DH and I had to do some barricade hopping to get back to our group. Moral of the story: get to your corral early and don't leave. :)

Overall, it's such a fun race!

Thanks much for the info ! I am sure DH and I will be somewhere from D on...:confused3. You will have to meet up with Sunnygal, longhorns and myself at Trader sam's...I too want to try the tropical drinks ! :cool1:

Saw on another thread about folks running 4.09 to support the Boston marathon people...4.09 being the time the clock stopped because of the explosions. Since I missed training today I'll be doing it tomorrow...

Sounds great! Col, Nic and Meredith, shout out for Trader Sam's with G-mom, her DH and anybody else!

Its that a call for post race ritas. I'm in. And a little security might be needed, ya never know. LOL!!!

In for the Dopey. Decided to run for St. Jude. Ive done the St Jude marathon a few times but never as a St. Jude hero. Has anyone done a Disney run as a St. Jude hero?

in for trader sam's, but have grandchildren along, but two running (grown) children of mine....so, may be 3 of us since the other two may be left with kiddos.

:rotfl:

Getting really excited for this race. I havent been to DL since i was 6 or 7 so it will basically be all new to me. Any suggestions for a post-race celebratory beer?

They don't have any booze at DL unless you can get into Club 33 (in which case you should be celebrating more than just the race ;)).

At California Adventure, they have a beer truck in the Pacific Wharf food area. They serve a few varieties of Karl Strauss. Pretty good, IMO. At Ariel's Grotto, there's also a bar at the top of the restaurant, which I'm sure has a decent beer selection.

Downtown Disney will have the biggest selection. Pretty much every restaurant has beer. The Uva Bar is right in the middle of Downtown Disney. It would be a great place to grab a drink and some food. It's an outdoor bar, in a circular shape, with seating around it.

And it's also a great place to people watch.

In DCA, Carthay Circle also has a really nice bar downstairs and you don't need a reservation. Beerwise they have local breweries, but they a great variety of hard stuff and retro/themed-type drinks. If you like sports and want to stay more inside, ESPN is awesome too. The main room has a bar that faces the wall of tvs.

I"m getting excited too! Caught the end of the Angels game on TV yesterday, gorgeous day down there, and when I saw the field, my legs just wanted to out there and run around the foul lines. And then Indiana Jones was last night. I'm now ready for August to get here and fast!!
