Official 2013 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

I'd put it in the joint account! But you probably should ask your lawyer first:/

I'm still working on airfare too. Hoping it will drop to the $350's before I have to buy. May be coming in Thursday night after all. That way I can hit the ground running on Friday morning;)

Always consult with your attorney. BTW, what's a DB? Good luck with that airfare, Nic

Not 100% sure I am going to be able to do DDD anymore:(. I have been diagnosed with a benign brain tumor and will need an operation. Not sure the timetable at this point. I have a meeting at the Mayo Clinic (never been so glad to live in Jacksonville in my life!!) next week and will hopefully know more. Still running but traveling obviously is on hold until we know more:/. At least the race is deferrable and I hadn't bought plane tickets yet.
This sucks.

My thoughts and prayers are with you ! Wishing you a healthy and speedy recovery !

Wowzers! I would drive too! Right now, Charlotte to LAX is around $450. I keep hoping it will drop:/

DH and I are flying into San Diego (SAN) as it was soooo much cheaper than LA or SNA. Orange county landing fees are HORRID so hence the price hike to fly in.

I'll probably play nice and just give it to him. Maybe I'll wait for him to ask if it came.

Cindy, DB=think feminine hygeine, Summer's Eve. LOL!

How far is San Diego from Disneyland? I guess I also need to get a car service to get from th airport to DL.

OMG, Col. For LAX, there's Super Shuttle and the DL bus. I'm taking DL bus from the airport and Super Shuttle back to the airport. Nicki has a schedule she sent me. I have no idea about San Diego and the distances. I don't even know where it is....directionally and geographically challenged. dde01

I am such the tourist! I ordered the DL DVD and it came today! Can't wait to watch it.

Haha!! That's me too. We go to DL at least twice a year and I order it every once in a while to see what they've changed on the DVD.

San Diego is about an hour and a half to 2 hours south of DL

Is the DL bus like Magical Express? The more money I can save the better.

Yeah, flying out from Columbia. It's $414 with a hour and a half layover in Chicago. That's United. Delta is like $460 and the return times were awful. It surprised me because I looked at flying from Charlotte and that was more than Columbia. I was super shocked.

Hey M! When are you arriving in Cali?

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the boards, but not new to running the Disneyland half. :) I ran the half in 2011 and 2012- going for the Dumbo Double Dare this year. I'm excited join you all! :)

Hey Gmom! I'm staying at the BW Stovall's. There's a few other gals staying there, too. We all definitely have to try and get together. Looking to try Trader Sam's. it reminds me of the Poly! Training in Fla is not gonna be any picnic, either. Thank goodness for the dreadmill. Never thought I would say that.

I'll be there too! And yeah- the weather is going to suck but I love my treadmill. It's my friend! It won't get me faster but it will get me to the finish. :)

Thank you! I'm sure I'll be seeking advice for the PHM eventually. :)

This is all based on if they keep the same course:
Definitely bring sunglasses or some kind of hat/visor. After leaving the parks and going over the over pass (the only big "hill" on the course) we end up running directly into the rising sun. It's seriously blinding. It sounds like you're comfortable running in the heat, granted it might not even be hot by your TX standards. ;)
If you want pictures with the characters, all the picture stops are at the beginning of the race in the first 3-4 miles while you're in the parks. They have bands and cheerleaders, etc for the rest of the race (last year they had a ton of classic cars).
The corrals get pretty crowded and it might be hard to get where you need to go. There's a main road that leads to the corrals and A-C are on the right, D-G on the left. D-G are the main issue: D & E are along one road, F & G are along the on-ramp to the parking structure. There are only narrow paths to get to certain corrals, people get confused and over all it's a big mess. My first year they eventually blocked people off from even getting to the corrals and DH and I had to do some barricade hopping to get back to our group. Moral of the story: get to your corral early and don't leave. :)

Overall, it's such a fun race!

So if I play it like we have done training in the past following the Galloway for the DL 1/2 last year we should all be starting training soon... any idea when they will put up a guide...? I just am not sure what is going to change for running two races back to back so Im a little nervous about just following an old plan this time... :confused3

Rumor I heard was April 30. Galloway told someone in my running group at a race that the plan was done and sent on to rD, just waiting for them to pretty it up and release it!
