Does anyone have the link to the 5k medallion for this year? I thought I had it bookmarked, but I can't find it.

I don't have a link but I have a pic of it.

OMG that medal is so cute I immediately went to see if there was still space to register for the 5k!!

And then I remembered that I have to run 13.1 miles the day after it and I'll get my own medal, so I should just calm down.

You guys, I may have developed some sort of running addiction.

HI Princesses.

I have not been on the boards for a few months. Please forgive me.

Thanks for posting the pic of the 5K!! Its so cute. I can't wait. I am getting excited.

I have been reading all the posts about training, this will be my 4th half. And I have ITBS issues. So for this half I have stepped down my running, I only do 1 long run a week. This week will be 7.5 (if its stops snowing)
Instead of weekday runs I have been doing a lot of interval cross training.
I read online about how high intesity interval training can help runners rather than steady pace long runs. I am not sure if this training style will work, but so far so good. I just know my IT Band can not take 3 runs a week.

I am grateful to have a place like this for support!!! Happy New Year!

We should turn this thread into the ITBS recovery thread.

Anyhow, this Saturday is a day off Saturday. Since I have been out for Christmas break (thank goodness school district office employees get the same school year breaks), I moved around my workout days some and did weight training on my legs yesterday.

I forgot my hamstrings could hurt like this.

Anyhow, I have an 8 mile run coming up this week, which I've done before, but some interesting things happen to me around mile 8. That's where typically I hit my wall. Somewhere between 8 and 9. So even though I should be running just to 8, I'm going to try for 9 tomorrow to break through that wall with a strong finish.

Today I plan a trip to Dick's Sporting Goods for a different shirt for the PHM than I have, because I am worried that it's going to be warmer than I anticipated for a February morning. My daffodils and hyacinths are popping up, which probably means in Florida, they will have already bloomed and made way for other flowers by the week of the Princess Half. That's typically here a precursor to an early spring, but I've also seen it snow on said daffodils here. Either way, I want to be prepared for anything. I also plan to do that 9 mile run tomorrow in my clothes for the 5K. Of course, out on the road, I'll leave the tutu off, but I want to try the actual clothing with socks and the bondi band.

It is really cute!! My DH will look adorable in it. ;)

.

Right?! Mine kicked in again after only 2 miles on Thursday. Saw my chiro yesterday and she thinks it's a tight quad and an out- of- alignment patella to blame now because my IT band is plenty loose. It's starting to feel like my body is physically rejecting this race! I've got 7 miles planned tomorrow and I guess I'll walk most of it.

Thank you! I'm planning costumes and couldn't remember if they were in costume or just dressed up. I decided to be lazy today and do my longer run tomorrow. I stayed up way too late looking for costume ideas so I needed the sleep this morning!:thumbsup2

SQUEEEEEEEEEEAL!!!! I just got my Belle-inspired tutu in the mail and its so adorable! Iron ons came in Thursday so I should be able to have the shirt put together this weekend! Still need to get a matching sweat band though....and earrings cuz I'm weird like that :). I found a cute Beast pin online that I might get to pin to the back of my fuel belt....something for all the people passing me to see :)

You should definitely be prepared for anything. Last year I wore shorts and a sleeveless tee to the parks on Friday, the next day it was jeans and a windbreaker with race day cold and misty. I am absolutely bringing a warm and a cold option this year.

::yes:: I live here and STILL took a lesson from a very cold few days at WDW last weekend! 37-degrees, standing in the shade, was really, really COLD. Walking around EP in about 50-degrees with wind, in tights, jeans, 2 layers of shirts, a sweater and a down jacket, was comfortable. I've got so many layers lined up for the race, I could end up looking like the Michelin Man, not Snow White! :rotfl:

I graduated PT!!!!!!! Wooooo!!!! And with my beloved Vibrams!!!!

I'm up to 5 miles in my re-training without IT pain. Shooting for 6 tomorrow. Time to double-down on the pixie dust!!!!!

Awesome! Here's hoping that the rest of our ITBS sufferers follow suit and are back on the road in no time flat!

:thumbsup2

I'm back after an extended break! I've been busy getting my life back in order. And running, of course!

Does anyone have any great costume ideas for Giselle or Megara? I don't want to wear a tutu at all, and I want a less common costume than the usual princesses.

Yay!!! Congrats!

I hope your training is pain free from here on out.

My IT band is call for the foam roller after my 8 miles today. UGH!

WARNING: TOENAIL TMI!

Well, I had 4 black toenails from my October 1/2. The two on the left foot are going to be fine (oddly, this is the side the ITBS is acting up). On the right foot, however, I keep cutting the big toenail down as far as possible. I know I'm going to lose it, but it just won't give up. The 2nd toe, a toenail grew in behind the first and I was able to remove the top nail today.

It's only a matter of time for the big one.

I ordered some toe caps from Amazon today. Hopefully that will solve my toenail problems. I'm worried I'll have a painful big toenail for the half. I won't even go into how I drained that one big toenail. Ugh. It still makes me feel ill.

Have to laugh.... Trolling through old Facebook posts and came across an October, 2010 post that had me proudly proclaiming that I had just run ...... Four miles! Here I am, just over 2 years later, having done tons of 10 Ks and in training for my 5th and 6th half marathons. So grateful for all the support I had along the way! Hang in there, new princesses! You can do this!
