Official 2013/2014 Disney Military Promotion

I need clarification please. I'm talking about DisneyLand. The last time we were there with a family member, every time she went through the gate, we had to be there with her and show our ID. I understand about all bring there for activation but what about entering the gates? We can't go on the 2nd day till the afternoon and she wants to be there at rope drop. Is that possible or will we need to get her in and then come back. Thank you for your help. Linda

This was the policy at Disneyland for several years, but they did stop it last fall. The party may now split up after activation.

Hi all:

I have military salute tickets and after much effort, I was able to link them to MDE.

When we go and activate them (the part the military person has to show ID for) - where can we do that? We would like to start at a water park, but I don;t know if you can activate them there, or if it has to be at an actual park.

Thanks!
Kim

We have done it at the waterparks, the land parks, and DTD over the past few years. We have done it at the waterpark more times than the others because we buy tix at SOG, and go to WP on our day of arrival.

Hi there, I will be traveling with friends that are a military family. They are letting me buy my tickets with the discount. My question is this. They will be purchasing the six tickets (3 for them and 3 for me). But I want to purchase 1 ticket with the water park/extras option. So is it possible to buy 5 tickets with park hopper option for $169 and 1 ticket with the extras option for $198 (I have 2 extras tickets left over from previous unexpirable tickets).

Thank you for your help

Question for potential future room only discounts. I'm trying to decide between leaving all military discounted trip for Sept 21-27 at Dolphin or doing Free Dining since after math, I break even and get two extra park tickets plus a true Disney resort. This is due to having nothing to choose from that made it break even.

My other option is wait until October and do all military. This is when I prefer to go but #1 discounts for after Sept 27 aren't released and #2 will rooms be available for room only. Based on projected Free Dining dates, my dates will be blacked out so not a concern.

Leads me to my "What would you do?" question. September plans will not be changed until the crystal ball is clear. Does anyone know how scarce available rooms are once the new discounts come out?

Me thinks you can book a room at the regular rate and then when mil discounts come out you can give your res number and have them apply the mil discount. I think DH and I did this a couple years ago . Anybody else confirm the book and then apply the discount ?

Sorry if this has been asked or answered already. With the disneyland tickets, I realize the promotion goes through September.. is it normally extended? We have a trip in November. I am just trying to plan how we will be getting our tickets. Ds and his fiance are both in the military. When they go, they always get the military ticket...but their trips have always fallen within a period they are offered. Is there a chance they were not be offered in November 2014?

TIA :goodvibes

So, I looked at militarydisneytips and doesn't look like you can book and apply discount . But there are great tips on what to do!

When I did our res I called the main disney reservation line and talked to a CM..have you tried to call and ask ?

We did this before - really easy to do

I have not but was waiting for Discounts to be announced for the upcoming year. I suppose I could just book a room only and do the cancel/new reservation when the discounts come out. It sounds as though it is an easy transfer!

I booked a split stay about two weeks ago so I had to make a separate reservation for each hotel. I booked at full price and was reassured by two separate CMs ( called twice because I wasn't prepared to put down the second deposit right away) that once the Mil Disc is announced for beyond Sep I can call back and apply the disc to our reservations. (This is of course assuming they have mil rooms left in the category we booked, they only set so many aside for that. Worse case you might have to change room categories:)

We are meeting up with our friends and their kids who qualify for the AFS tickets and from this thread I am reading that they do not have to purchase all six tickets at once and that we do not have to be all at the same parks in order to use the tickets. They need five of the tickets, leaving one that we are able to use. So....

1. Can they go ahead and purchase the 6th ticket that my husband will use even though we arrive four days later? We arrive around 8pm and I am concerned that we will not make it to shades of green to purchase the 6th ticket before SofG ticket off closes.

2. If they can purchase the 6th ticket before we arrive, can they activate my husband's ticket without my husband being there if I give them all of his info?

3. If they cannot activate the 6th ticket without my husband being there, can they be activated separately, or do all 6 have to be activated at once?

Am I making any sense, haha? They are needing to use 5 of the AFS tickets before we arrive and then we need to use one day of the 6th AFS ticket while they are at Legoland, with the intention of spending the remaining park days together.

This thread has been super informative!

Free dining question!

So running the numbers and it looks like free dining is better for us IF we can upgrade the included tickets for the salute tickets.

The Salute tickets are $198 (with both options) and 2 day base tickets are $200.22 with tax. Am I correct in assuming once tax is added on to the salute tickets we'd be okay to upgrade to them?

Is this still the way it works?

From what I understand the tickets must be regular priced so you cannot upgrade salute tickets (which I believe is not allowed even without this promo) but maybe I'm misunderstanding your question. ?

Yes, we did this in September. You need to enter a park with your tickets and then take them to guest relations to be upgraded before you leave. I am pretty sure that you have to do the upgrade at Guest Relations at one of the parks and not at the resorts.
