Official 2013/2014 Disney Military Promotion

Girls only trip in May for the new vera Bradley disney bags! Booked a mil discount room at GF (thanks DH!) and DH has ordered mil salute tickets which should be here in a couple of weeks. I have almost decided NOT to link my ticket to my magic band as I don't want to be tied to only one park per day under the FP+ system. (If I understand the new FP you can only do three FP per day and only at one park ) Anybody also not linked their tickets and/or do I have to link the ticket ?

If you want to use FP at all, you are tied to that park per day for your choices. I'm not sure I understand your reasoning?

I'm not sure I understand your reasoning for not linking your tickets. If you don't want to make FP+ selections in advance, then I guess there is no reason to link them until you get there. Whether they are linked or not, you still only get 3 FP and all have to be in the same park. You can still park hop; you just need to decide in which park to use the FP system.

Apparently it is been found that by NOT linking your tkts to the magic band you get a set of FP with your tkt AND a set with your magic band thus two parks with FP instead of one. If you link your tickets to the magic bands then only one set of tickets.

I don't know how that is possible, considering if you want to use your MB for your FP at all, you have to link tickets to it. I don't know where you got that info? The bar code on the back of your voucher will match your hard ticket they give you at the ticket window. Same bar code, same ticket, same FP info recorded.

crostorfer: here is the thread they are talking about. We are planning a trip to DL this year and waiting for all the FP+ stuff to settle down, so I have no idea how or if this really works:

Thanks for posting the link ! From what I understand the ticket and the MB are TWO different items so the voucher with the barcode that yes does match the ticket barcode DOES NOT show up on your MB until you link it.

This discount does also NOT apply to Disabled Veterans unless they are 100% disabled. I'm am disappointed in Disney that they refuse to offer this program to our men and women with Service Connected Disabilities and proof of such via a Veteran's Administration ID card. Thousands of Veterans receive care from the VA on a regular basis for injuries sustained while in Service. Many of these injuries may not qualify to be 100% Didabled, yet they are still disabilities sustained while in active service. Disney will, however, offer this program to a brand new Reservist who is fresh out of Basic Training and hasn't served his or her Reserve unit a single day.

Hi there Long Time,

I understand the emotion, but you need to re-adjust your fire. It is the military, not Disney which sets the eligibility. And they use the same standards they use for base access and other benefits.

I recommend contacting the National leadership of all the veteran's organizations that you belong to about this. It is their job to lobby for you.

I've read that it is possible no tax is added to the ticket price at the Disneyland ticket booths. Are the Disneyworld military salute tickets available at Disneyland as well? We are going to Disneyland first and I'm wondering if we can purchase 5 Disneyland and 5 Disneyworld military salute passes at Disneyland at the same time.

Thanks for any information.

That is correct, apparently there is no tax for anyone at DL.

The DL and WDW ticketing systems are totally separate, so I don't imagine you'll be abel to get the WDW tickets at DL.

I am very unhappy to learn that Shades of Green is being treated differently than Swan and Dolphin wrt pre-booking. S/D are getting 60 days, SoG only 30. I am writing and sending Disney an e-mail about this tonight. If anyone else feels similarly, I urge you to do the same!

Oh wow! I was so excited hearing about the 30 days that I didn't hear about this! That is definitely unfair and I would love to write to Disney to express my concerns. Any advice on where to direct my correspondence would be appreciated!

Thank you for those addresses, Steve!

Next week I'll see if my WDW Media Relations contact has any comment on the 30 vs 60 day disparity.

I did e-mail Disney the night I posted the above quote, and I received a follow up phone call from Disney today. The CM assured me that it isn't Disney's intent to treat SoG guests as lesser, but that it is most likely a contractual difference b/w S/D and SoG that is causing the difference in treatment.

She did say that, as with all of MM+, everything is subject to change. She also said she would be passing on my concerns to the executive level (her terminology). I would very much urge others who feel similarly to contact Disney and let them know how you feel!

Thanks for the update, I don't have one yet.

I agree it would be great if everyone concerned contacted Disney to advocate for equal treatment!

I also sent an email several days ago. No phone call yet...but I'm hoping the more they hear from us, the more they're likely to change it!
