Official 2013/2014 Disney Military Promotion

If a military member has purchased tickets for their extended family using all ticket allocations BUT is arriving at Disney one day prior to the extended family, is AD member unable to activate their own ticket until everyone arrives?

The only requirement is that the service member be present when activating the other tickets. They don't all need to be activated at the same time or same place. The SM can activate their own the day prior and then the others the next day no problem.

I'm sure my questions has already been answered in this thread, but I can't seem to find the info....

DD and I are headed to WDW in July for the USSSA Softball World Series. We will be there for 9 nights. I am thinking of purchasing 4 of the AFS tickets and each of us will use two--as I understand it they are able to be used back-to-back. My question is how this works with FP+. Can we enter both vouchers (for each of us) into MDE or do we have to wait until after the first four days have expired to enter the 2nd four days? Or should we set up two different MDE accounts (one in each of our names) and link a set of tickets to each account, each for a four day period.

Hope I didn't make that too confusing! Thanks for any help you can offer!

You may have already checked on this so forgive the intrusion if so, but B2B salute tix might actually be poor value over purchasing tickets from your regular base ITT/MWR office, especially if you don't park hop. In fact, if you don't, I know it's cheaper to buy tix from your local office (Not sure if it's a no-go to post prices publicly or I would specify).

But to answer your actual question, you should be able to enter multiple vouchers for each of you with no problems :)

Thanks! We usually do park hop so 8 days of AFS is $338 while 8 days with Stars & Stripes from Shades of Green is $387, so I figure we are still coming out ahead. And, if we don't use all of the days on the AFS tickets we have until September to finish them up--just in case I can talk DH into going back to WDW!!

Oh wow! I was so excited hearing about the 30 days that I didn't hear about this! That is definitely unfair and I would love to write to Disney to express my concerns. Any advice on where to direct my correspondence would be appreciated!

Happy to report that I received a call from The Disney Company on Friday. They left a message on my machine but invited me to call back during their hours (weekdays) to discuss my email from April! So excited to call this week and give my feedback in hopes that Shades will get to participate in FP+ at 60 days as an onsite hotel! Here's hoping!

Please report back after you talk to them!

The ones we can buy from the base MWR office are cheaper than the ones available from SOG. I never have been able to explain to myself why that is. I guess for those who don't live near a base and don't want to order by mail, it's a good option. I think the S&S also includes one WP or DQ admission, but we still come out ahead getting discounted MYW.

Makes me a little dizzy to realize how much variation in military discounts there is from place to place!

The Stars and Stripes Tickets at SOG are different tickets than than the ones sold at MWRs. Looking at our MWR, the only ticket options you can have are the MYW base ticket, the MYW park hopper ticket, and then of course the Armed Forces Salute tickets (which are priced the same at SOG as at every other base - $169).

The Stars and Stripes tickets at SOG are basically Water Parks Fun & More tickets w/park hoppers. I'm pretty sure if you get a 5 day Stars and Stripes ticket, you get 5 admissions to the water parks/DQ/WWoS, just like you would with the WPF&M ticket
Magic Your Way Stars and Stripes offer admission for the specified number of days to the Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, Downtown Disney, DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, and Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex (some events require an additional admission charge) with the freedom to visit multiple parks on the same day.

Our MWR, anyway, does not offer the option to buy a discounted WPF&M ticket - just the MYW base and MYW park hopper (and the Salute tickets)

I have read a few post about upgrading a 2 day ticket purchased as part of a package (I.e. Free dining) to a AF salute ticket. Is this possible? If so, do you upgrade at a Disney ticket window or SoG? Also the post I read mentioned using the tickets first. Is this correct you use the 2 day ticket for a day and then upgrade to a salute 4 day ticket (with I assume only 3 days left at that point)? Thanks :)

Yes, you can do this. We did it last year (and wish we had known the year before).
1. You book Free dining with a 2 day base ticket.
2. Get to Disney, use one day on the park ticket,
3. Then go to the ticket booth at any park to upgrade. You don't go to SOG.

To upgrade, the ticket upgrade must be more than the ticket you purchase (as of last fall '13, the Salute ticket with water parks and more was about $14 more than a 2 day base ticket, so you could do the upgrade.)

So, you go from a 2 day base ticket to a 4 day with park hoppers and WP&M ticket. :)

Only drawbacks, you won't be able to book in advance your FP+ for the 3rd and 4th days as they won't show up in MDE. So, choose your FP+ days wisely (they don't have to be the 1st 2 consecutive days you're there, but you are limited to selecting FP+ for a total of two days, does this make sense?) As soon as you upgrade, you'll be able to book the FP+ for day 3 and 4, but you'll be limited to what's left. What we did was use the 2 days of advance FP+ for Epcot and HS, since there are some must do's where FP makes a big difference-Soarin and Toy Story, specifically.

THANK YOU!

You explained the process nicely. :)

Well, I spoke with them today. Basically, after giving me a lot of information about FP+ and what they plan to do and yadda yadda yadda, I explained that my only concern was that SOG be treated as an onsite resort and given the 60 day benefit of making FP+ reservations! Her quick reply was that the Disney company has the ability to make reservations for Swan and Dolphin but that they don't have access to SOG reservations but...she would pass along my message to the appropriate department! So really I don't think I got anywhere but maybe if enough people ask, they will consider doing something to make it happen!

So correct me if I'm wrong but if I'm active military and I purchase 6 tickets in May, go on a vacation with my fiancée, then give the other 4 tickets to family to use in July will they work fine for them?

There have been reports of needing everyone with you at the time of activation. If they require this when you activate your first two.tickets. you wouldn't be able to activate all 6. An AD member/spouse must be present at the time of activation, so if you were not with your family in July this would not work.

That said, there have also been reports of just needing everyone's information at the time of activation (not everyone there in person). If this is what you find, your plan may work.

I need clarification please. I'm talking about DisneyLand. The last time we were there with a family member, every time she went through the gate, we had to be there with her and show our ID. I understand about all bring there for activation but what about entering the gates? We can't go on the 2nd day till the afternoon and she wants to be there at rope drop. Is that possible or will we need to get her in and then come back. Thank you for your help. Linda

Hmm.. I've never heard of that happening. The military member only has to be there for activation. I've been to the parks many times on the military tickets. The non military members travelling have never had any problems getting into the parks by themselves after activation.

Thanks for your reply. This happened in November 2012. It was quite annoying to have to show our id's even when switching between the parks. Perhaps a short lived policy. While I've been back on a military id since then it had not been with a guest using a pass I purchased.
