Due to getting behind, I chose to make sure I fit in all the long training sessions from Galloway's Disneyland 1/2 training plan, so I wound up doing quite a few long runs consecutively on Saturdays. Granted I'm training at a 15 minute per mile pace, but that I did okay.
It will soon be time to head to Disneyland for the Disneyland 1/2 and part 1 of my Coast to Coast challenge. Hope everyone's training goes well.
I will be joining you on Sunday. I also walked Tinkerbell in January so the DL 1/2 is just for fun and not part of my Coast to Coast this year. I'm looking forward to Wine & Dine for my first Coast to Coast.
Good luck to both you this week-end at the DL Half and any of our other DL Half runners!

I've created a hybrid training program using both Jeff Galloway and Hal Higdon's programs. Hal Higdon recommends "step back" weeks, where you will up your mileage on your weekly long runs for 3-4 weeks, then pull back significantly on the next week (i.e. build up to 8 or 10 miles, then on your pull back week, do 4 or 5). I find this really refreshes my training, and it's something to look forward to! When I was training for the full WDW marathon, I missed a full week of running completely due to a bad flu bug. We were up to 18 miles and I was terrified about losing conditioning. Surprisingly, though, the first post-flu run was one of the best of the entire training. So I think your body tells you sometimes to take a break, and you won't lose any significant gains by either running shorter, or even taking a couple of days off. In fact, if you're feeling particularly run down or sore, you may risk more injury by trying to push through it. It's been a brutal summer for humidity, so I'm completely with you on waiting until it's a bit cooler.

So bummed because I was really doing great with my training.
Try to wait to worry too much until you get the MRI results. Sending pixie dust to you.... (Having had major knee issues myself, I am really pulling for good news for you!) Knee injuries are NO FUN!!!

It would be our first one... it was supposed to be two but the house we REALLY want of course went off the market the day we inquired. The homeowners are taking their time getting back to us even though we have already said that pending inspection etc we would meet their asking price (sacrilege I know but its 95% of what we want!) I so hope they give us a chance..!
