Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

Thats actually pretty cool. I probably should have ore ordered one but I guess it's too late now. Any idea if they will sell them at the race?

I clicked on the pic in the email and it took me to the order page, so they may still be available.

Otherwise some will be available at the expo. Not sure how limited the quantities will be though.

Well now I'm a bit worried. I clicked on the link as well and it said they couldn’t find my registration. I have the confirmation email with all the correct information and have paid in full. I hope my registration isn't messed up! :scared:

I will be staying at Pop Century resort in November and would love to run the family 5k through Animal Kingdom. Pop Century does not provide transportation to the race. I read somewhere that the event buses will pick up participants at 'host resorts'. I do not see that Pop is a host resort.
Does anyone know if this is true? and if so, can someone suggest another means of transportation? I am really excited to run this 5k and beat my best time yet and would love to do it here but i dont have transporation, unfortunately that won't happen. Help please! :)

Yes, this is true. You need to take a cab.

At the princess they had a good number at the expo and my mom told me she saw them at the outlets later in April. Guess it depends on if you want to press your luck or now.

LOL! I agree on the cool crisp fall! This heat has been oppressive here in western MI!

I know people are all "Oh, it's a night race! I don't know how I feel about this!" As a slower runner, I say: Hey, it means everything is in the shade and we're not baking in the sun on an unshaded, long stretch of Florida roadway. Awesome.

Plus, there's an excellent chance that since the race is so many weeks later this year, it'll actually be cold.

Does anyone have any clue what they think the temps might actually be around race time? Of all the Dis trips I've taken, none of them have been in November. I was there Oct 31, 2007 and it was "chilly" because of a tropical storm, but then again, I was there October 15, 2002 and it was hotter than August from a freak heat-wave. Last Sept 30 the days leading up to the race were HOT, then race day was much cooler and less humid. In mid-december I've had mild warm weather and freezing cold weather....

So..... pretty much I guess the ONLY thing we can say for sure is that the sun will not be blazing down on us!?

Yay for night races! :cheer2:

According to the Weather History site at weather.org, last year, it was about 68 at 10pm on November 10th, and 2010 was 62 degrees.

Have to admit I haven't started yet. The W&D is the same day as a big half here in Richmond Va, so coordinating runs with my training partner who's running that race. He's suffering through a pulled muscle and I'm fighting shin splints so we're easing into it. This will be my 4th half, but I want it to be my fastest!

Not me, I did the Tink in January and after running that race with my mother I choose to bring my wife in and do a casual pace, enjoy the cast members and the behind the scenes.

I don't know about that. for January Tinkerbell the pin you ordered at registration was different from the one at the expo. The pin at the expo was actually more limited quantity. But it will be nice to see.

That was the first time I have seen an alternate pin also sold. There were an extremely limited number of pins available for the Tink at the expo that were identical to the ones available for purchase with registration.

Well I signed up for my first ever 5K tomorrow morning. The Detroit Lions are sponsoring a run here and since it's only twenty minutes from my house I thought "why not". I was tempted to go for the 10K instead but in my training plan I'm only up to five miles now and didn't want to push it. I still might try to change to the 10K in the morning depending on how my knee is feeling.

How early and what was the entrance fee? The ball and chain has to work tomorrow, and a race sounds better than scrubbing the siding.

I'm still very much a newbie so I'm going to be happy if I can make it to the finish line in under three hours.

Good luck, I think we are shooting for around 3:20.
