Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

I'm pretty sure Ifit has that capability, but not sure how to use it correctly. I just received it yesterday and still playing around with it, I think it's on the "Map" section?

I just registered :cool1:

I have never run more than 3 miles so it should be an interesting summer training.

DVC discount? Could you please tell me where along the registration process you did that? I've been doing Disney races for years and other than the marathon in Jan I never seem to see any option for the DVC discount.

Thanks.

I found it under the special offers section when I logged into DVC a few days ago. Think it's $10 off if you register by the first deadline and they give you a code to enter it before final payment.

Thanks a lot.

My DW and I are running in the Wine and Dine 1/2 this year. We are so excited because this is the first race her and I went to when we first got together. She ran the 1/2 in 2006 and I did the 5K. 3 races and 6 years later we are running together.

That said, I jusr booked the the Beach Club Villa Resort and have been reading posts until my eyes are ready to bleed. We are looking at buying into DVC next year and thought this to be a good opportunity to see one.

Any suggestions about the resort or things to know before we go?

Thanks,

Well, I did it!! I signed up for my first half marathon! I'm going to run the Wine and Dine!:cool1:

I've run the relay the past 2 years and since it's not being offered this year, this was just the impetus I needed to finally commit to 13.1!

I'll definitely be walk/running it and probably one of the last crossing the finish line, but it's the same finish line as the first place winner right?

Have fun and be sure to enjoy the after party. As far as Dvc goes, be sure to look at resale before buying direct.

I wish I had seen that too! I will have to look for it when Tinkerbell opens.

We are planning on coming down 4 times (at least) this year, and DH wants to make sure an AP is worth the cost. We haven't registered for the event just yet, but would someone mind pricing out two 2 Day PH tickets on the discount page (no water park option) for me with tax so I can add the cost to my comparison chart?

Thank you so much!!

Sent you a PM with the info!

I don't understand the discounts.:confused3 Is it that after you register you are able to buy discounted park tickets? Is there a discount on resort stays being offered?

Thanks:goodvibes

Once you register, you will receive an email with info on discounted tickets. There is a link and a password to access the information. We've registered for both the Expedition Everest Challenge and ToT 10-Miler, but we haven't registered for this one and I didn't have the password to look up this event's info.

And each event has 3 resorts that are considered the "home" resorts for the events. This mostly means that transportation is available to/from the resort for the late night events. So, if you're staying at a different resort, you will need your own transportation! And these resorts do offer special discounted rates, but you have to call a special number to book them. We haven't booked an event-rate room, so I'm not sure, but they might ask you for your event confirmation number before you can actually book. But they will give you all the quotes you want for free!!

After doing a side-by-side comparison, DH has agreed that APs are the way to go! Our first trip next month will be more expensive, but we'll end up saving about $300 on each of the next three trips, so it's definintely worth it!

Thanks, what is the special number?

407-WDW-IRUN.

I'm sure if you try to book through that number, they will ask you for your race confirmation number. But they were great about giving me all kinds of quotes the other night!

Alright, so I finally figured my life out enough that I was able to sign up for the Wine and Dine half this morning! I'm super excited because I was feeling great at Princess and I know I'll be getting a PR at this half!

Booked my DVC for the race today! We'll be staying at Saratoga Springs (either in a 2 bdrm or Treehouse) and plan to book a room at Boardwalk for race day so we don't have to go far to sleep after the party. Thanks to previous posters for the discount tip. I never would have found that on the website.

I started training (following Jeff Galloway's plans) the last week of March and walk/jogged/ran an average 17 minute mile so far. I didn't run at all this week and I'm really discouraged because my knees are killing me (the inside of both knees). I had an injury to my left knee about 15 yrs ago (I was hit by a car) so that plus my weight are probably not helping.

Any suggestions on some type of knee support/brace? I think I'll go to the running store over the weekend and see what they suggest also.

Test Track closed for refurb through Nov. 30.:( TT was one of my selling points to DH for the after party.
