Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

I did not get the online event code to purchase tickets when I registered last month. Did anyone else have that in their email confirmation? I may have to call Rundisney later today. TIA

It's in the email confirmation I received that discussed packet pickup, hotel info and the finish line party. PM me if you still don't see it and I can forward.

Anyone else noticed the course map is gone off the site?

Are there going to be changes?

Very curious!

Perhaps they just want a 'big reveal'. I know it miffed some of the DL ½ runners that the W&D and Marathon Weekend courses were up before theirs. (Seeing as how their race precedes the others, it would only be logical that the DL course be up first. But wait this is Disney, logic doesn't mean much.)

I hope we still run through animal kingdom! :upsidedow

I'm not sure where else they could reroute the course to get the miles if we didn't go to and through the Animal Kingdom.

Wow, that is interesting. Maybe we will see something on the Rundisney Facebook page this week.

The mouse has been working to put out maps that are a little less artsy and closer to 'usable'. That with a couple small revisions to iron out year 2 course issues and all is good. I do not believe there is a major change in course.

Just dropping in to say hello to my fellow WADHM'ers. Very excited about my upcoming November WDW trip BECAUSE I will be earning my first CTC medal. I ran the TBHM in January.

What is the weather like at night in November in Orlando? My HM training will start in the dryer fall Pacific NW weather then quickly change to running in the rain, rain, wind, and more rain.

It looks like Disney added one day to the end of Food and Wine at Epcot. It will now go through Monday. Maybe they saw the flaw of having the race on Saturday night giving the runners coming in for the weekend only a half a day to experience Food and Wine on Sunday.

Hi!

I am excited to find this thread! A friend and I are going to be running the W&D 1/2 Marathon first marathon for both of us, so it will be a neat experience.

Training with run/walk which has worked out great for me. My only goal is to finish under the time limit which I don't see being a problem at all. We can then enjoy WDW the rest of the week :wizard:

When I complete this race that's one thing I can mark off my bucket list! :thumbsup2

Good point. I'll miss "Relay runners to the right. Relay runners to the right. Relay runners to the right."
LOL. Seriously, it was a nice little distraction.;) But I won't miss all the "fresh" relay runners coming barreling past me.:thumbsup2

Now if they can figure out some way to tone down the headlights when approaching the car entry plaza.....I feel like I'm running into "the light".

We are taking the ME to Animal Kingdom. Will there be busses to the sports complex to go pick up the packet on Friday? If it goes to Animal Kingdom, will it go to both Jambo and Kidani?

I agree with this one. I almost think that it makes it more likely to trip over the speed bumps as I have to look away and I can't see a thing when approaching these lights.

Yes, as AK Lodge is one of the host resorts, they will have buses to take you the expo. I believe they run about every 30 minutes. I would think that they would pick up and drop off at both Jambo and Kidani, but I would find out for sure when you check in. If you are staying at Kidani and they don't pick up there it will not be a problem to ride over to Jambo except for maybe race morning.

Just want to point out that they are not standard WDW Buses. They are contracted charter buses. They will have a designated pick up area, not necessarily where the WDW pick up. There should be a sandwich board sign up stating "runDisney event bus service" or something of that effect.

If we are not staying at a host resort, what is the best way to get to the expo? We are staying at AoA, so would we just go somewhere, get on a bus to a host resort and then a third to get to the expo? :headache:

Couple options come to mind.

-Walk across the Generations Gap bridge to Pop Century and take the Expo bus from there.

-If you rented a car, drive to the Wide World of Sports. You can do that for the expo, but not the race.

-If all else fails, take a bus to a theme park and then to a host resort and wait for the expo bus. (yuck)

As I just checked the host resorts, my first option is not a valid option. The Pop Century Resort is NOT a host resort for this race. I think cab would be most cost and time effective. Especially since AoA is the closest resort to WWoS.
